when I fished the piers ..i kept all quote unquote trash fish... I went on eBay and got a cheap used hand grinder... and grind up all that fish to make Chum ....especially things like mackerel with the oil ....and find mullet or Bluefish for cut bait... Chum the water up where you going to fish use the shrimp too but have another rod with big chunk bait on it bigger bait bigger fish

That’s actually a good idea with the chum. I have thought about using a chum slick, just haven’t done it yet honestly. But will eventually. And I do like to run a bigger rod with a nice livebait, a chunk of mullet or lady fish. This particular day I had some shrimp left over and wanted to use them up. I do agree, bigger the bait bigger the fish! Thanks for watching.

Changing your net to a 10’ cast net or even 12-14’ would be much better and help your odds of
catching bait a lot. That small net is also not heavy enough. Sometimes we have to go to 15 to 20 spots and cover 20 miles to get good live bait before we start fishing when land based fishing.

I do agree with u. I actually have a few cast nets myself I just don’t bring them here bc of the rocks. The net I’m throwing in this video is perfect there bc it fits right in between and on top of some bigger rocks. You can’t see the rocks in the video bc it’s high tide, I just know where they r. However on these rocks, bait usually hold on top of them and in between them. Believe it or not, with that 4’ net I will fill the bait well with 1 throw if the bait is there. This year to be honest, the bait flow hasn’t been what it was in past years.
