This is a VERY nice kit. I'm a bit frustrated, personally, because I have stepped away from Procreate for a bit and coming back has been more frustrating than when I was first learning (personal expectations that I should not be struggling so hard). I've done several pattern classes for Procreate in the past and so I'm not even new to the concepts - but it still has been harder than I expected. BUT - I got a pattern completed by folloing this video and I see LOT of potential. All that to say - if anyone is coming at this with a similar background - having been on Procreate then stepped away - don't give up if you are feeling a bit overwhelmed. I think I'm going to break it up into some steps that will help my foggy brain. First - I am just going to focus on creating some pretty designs with the templates and getting used to them and Procreate (again). Then after I have a few pretty layouts ready to turn into patterns, I'll go back through and focus just on the pattern layout process over and over with the different designs. I have a couple of fun little creatures I have already created and I can see dropping these into some of these layouts for some really fun (and eventually quick) layouts. Thank you, Lisa, for putting together another fantastic toolset as well as wonderful instructions and an awesome guidebook. You are a wonder!!!! My goal for getting this figured out is to create some fun patterned paper for my junk journals and other paper crafts!
SO glad you are enjoying the kit! I totally understand how it must feel coming back to something you stepped away from for a while, feels like you have to learn how to ride a bicycle all over again! But you have a great attitude and I'm 100% certain you will feel comfortable and confident again in Procreate in no time! I love your plan you have, sometimes the technical side of pattern making can be overwhelming which can dampen creativity. So focusing on just making cute motifs and lovely designs first, then moving onto the techy side later is a great idea!! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to let me know. Enjoy!!
Lisa, I am so excited to have found this amazing product. It’s like magic. I’ve been reviewing “how to” videos for days. And your template puts them all together. Another winner for sure. Thank you
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you find the product and templates helpful. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a wonderful comment! 🌟
Hello, again. Quick question about snapping settings. Do you have a recommendation for the settings within snapping…the distance and velocity? Thanks, in advance!
Hi! Here's a help article with instructions: support.lisaglanz.com/article/45-how-do-i-download-directly-onto-my-ipad If you still need further assistance please don't hesitate to email me at help@lisaglanz.com
Hi! yes I do, you can find the tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/cjAUDm_NDJo/видео.htmlsi=UK90CJ_ajvBqR8bh The templates for Affinity Designer are included in the same toolkit: www.lisaglanz.com/shop/pattern-design-toolkit-templates-for-creating-the-perfect-repeat/ Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for your purchase, it's much appreciated! It depends on your style of art. I personally like texture in my work so I enjoy using my Vintage Tales and Nitty Gritty brushes to create motifs. If you prefer smoother linework, you could use a basic smooth inker which is very effective for bolder shapes. Not sure if that helps?
So, this is probably a dumb question, but what is the advantage of creating the half drop pattern in this way (larger than the final sized tile, then cropping)? Do you find it saves time? Makes it appear more random? Or is it just easier? I just got the guides, which I love and think will save me a lot of time! I was just curious why you set up the canvases in this way. I know there must be a logical reason. haha.
Great question 😊 Half drops are notoriously difficult to create given that the motif isn't repeated horizontally on the same plain, so it's a huge advantage to see the full motif and where all the elements will appear once repeated BEFORE drawing them. The templates help to guide you in where to place your motif elements so they don't obstruct the repeated elements once you've created the half drop. SO much easier that way 😊

When I repeat four times and distribute, the pattern appears inconsistent, like you do in the video. Do you have any tips for this problem? I want you to see that. Do you have an Instagram account to communicate and show my problem? Thank you👍
