This really is one hell of a song. I bet if someone else tries to play it, it would sound like a Dire Straits tune at most (and even that would be high standard). But Phil and the boys somehow walked the extra mile here to put true energy in this simple track. It literally sounds like a massive sun going down and putting the horizon on fire for one last time. An epic swansong for this incarnation of the band !
Phil's goodbye song to the world, if he had one this one would have to be it. Absolutely love this song, Thin Lizzy, one of the greatest rock bands of all time PERIOD. RIP to the Irish Immortal Phil Lynott, hero's get remembered but legends never die.
This is in reference to his addiction to smack. I know cause I was there from 83-86 when I lived in Germany as a civilian. After a while you feel no hope, like theres no way out. That's what Phil is talking about. Listen to the words & the music.
There will be only 1 Phil and 1 Thin Lizzy ! I'm so Grateful to have got to Hear their Treasured Music and even had one Johnny and the Fox album way Back ! Phill and the boys will reside right there in the Heart of Rock and Roll with the other Greats one big Rockin Juke Box !
Philo's bass playing was always top-notch as displayed on this track! Also for singing lead...Philo never missed note on the bass, besides being the Irish Warrior Poet, Phil was just fuckin' Cool and you can't teach that :-) Rock On Phil, T/L 4Life!

Love Sykes' solo on this! I think he only played it this one time. Love Gorhams too!
It's Scott Gorham playing this solo.
@@jamesbarbour8400 Scott plays the first solo. John plays the second solo. which isn’t on the album version.
