    I just watched someone’s video who “needle felted” eyes on her Amigurumi….I absolutely Never heard of this…..her eyes were adorable….so your video is the very first that I’ve watched…….now I have a lot of research to do to become proficient in this technique…..my question and concern is: is this safe for children under three? 🤷🏻‍♀️. All that fuzziness……….I want the alternatives to Safety Eyes and this looked nice…..I am aware of Embroidering or crocheting with yarn…..ty 🥰👵🏻

      I just put out a newer video about creating details with needle felting and if you go over it with smaller and smaller gauge needles the felt will be even more secure. Plus you can always trim the excess fuzzy bit. As far as it being safe for kids under 3, I would say probably, but I'm also not an expert on child safe toys. There is also a concern with wool allergies that you need to be careful of. I think the best bet if you aren't sure is to do embroidery or crocheted eyes. I hope that helps!

    This is very helpful! I’m about to try it in to felt eyes into a sloth stuffed animal that’s meant for a newborn baby. I’d rather do this than add safety eyes that can be a choking hazard

    would it stay if you wash your amigurumi?

    Does the filling of the amigurumi affect the way the needle felting will turn out? For example if i fill it with scrap yarns is the felting gonna be different from filling with poly fiber?

      That's a great question! I think the only issue you might have is when the needle goes in, the little barbs might catch on the yarn scraps and drag them up and slightly out of the piece. However you can use small tweezers or a tapestry needle to poke any scrap back down. This is just an educated guess though. I'll have to experiment with it myself to be sure.

      That's a great suggestion! I can definitely add that to my list of videos to make. 😊

    Grazie mille per il tuo bellissimo tutorial. Volevo farti una domanda. Una volta fatti gli occhi cosi se per esempio si dovesse tirare la lana, essa rimane saldata bene oppure c’e possibilita che tirandola venga via? Grazie

      Hi! Depending on how thorough you are with felting, the wool should not pull out once you are done. If you take the time to poke all the wool into solid layers you should not have an issue.

    If I was to do this on a plushie with plastic safety eyes, should I felt before I put the eyes in and close the project, or felt around the plastic eyes?

    • @cbfiberworks
      @cbfiberworks  8 месяцев назад

      Are you thinking of adding felted details like eyelashes around the eyes? If so, you can do that after putting the eyes in. It just depends on what you're doing.

      @@cbfiberworks I’m wanting to add patches of colour so I don’t have to make the markings with colour changes in the crochet itself, I’m not sure which way round I should do the felting in this case😭

    • @cbfiberworks
      @cbfiberworks  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@panic4theblackparade951 oooh I see. It would probably be easier to do all the felting at the end and work around the eyes. Otherwise it might be tough to push the post of the safety eye through the felted section. I have a blog post where I did something similar to do facial markings on a duck if you want to check it out: cbfiberworks.com/how-to-customize-your-amigurumi-projects/
