One of your best videos in my opinion... Great editing,,, added text emphasizing what your doing, background music,, and your delivery during narration is superb .. Multiple admitting that you made minor mistakes cracked me up.. Loved seeing you customize the board.. But chuckling while describing Max's wipe out was hilarious,, obviously if he was worse off it wouldn't be funny,,, but since it appears that he was only scraped up, I enjoyed your description of the accident..
After applying the griptape, if you had sanded it before cutting, the corners are easier to cut because the griptape is thinner at that point. Make for cleaner lines. Love the riot kit so much fun.
Definitely looks nice! Don’t worry about the bearings, they fit in nicely. But why remove the trucks and add visible screws? I feel that the screws under the grip looks cleaner.
You can do that even if the screws are below the griptape. Just gently press on the screw through the griptape and it will lock itself while you tighten the nut.
Thank you so much for this video! Very clear and straight to it. Also, not many videos working with electric skateboards on yt so more props for that (I ride a meepo mini)
Where can I go to get grip tapes like that? I saw your comment about that one specifically only shipping domestically but I'm new to e-boarding and need to find a good grip tape shop.
I would have to say the choice of grip tape color went great with the bushings and wheels. Too bad none of us can purchase it since the link provided doesn't take you to the same style/color. I would like to get the same pattern but different colors.
@@DanielKwan Yup, and the ones out there usually have bad audio or too much unnecessary talking and awkward silences, you did yours in a professional 'here's the steps' way.
tapping in bearings with a mallet is a little sketch, you are fine if you don't go to hard. Just be careful. Nice content. One of the best eskate channels on youtube! Keep it up!
Helmets are only 1 part of protection while boarding. I never ride without knee pads, hip pads, elbow pads, and skateboard gloves with thick padded palm protection.
Mount bearings on your trucks' axles vertically (board lying sideways) with your bodyweight. No risk of damaging the bearing shields from pushing it in manually or with a hammer.
The Exway looks sick! Also, I'm glad that Max is okay, besides a few bruises. When I first fell riding my electric skateboard I dislocated my shoulder. Wouldn't wish that even for my worst enemy.
I like to only remove a small amount of the backing (about an inch) then get it centered and tack it down, then remove the rest of the backing. This way I don't have to worry about the adhesive side touching the board while I am lining it up.
Just bought a Exway Flex Riot and was wondering if you could assist me in finding different wheel pulleys so i can swap the wheel sizes, thanks brother love your content!!!
you shouldn't hammered the bearings because it could damaged the internal part of the bearings, to put the bearing into the wheels simply use your trucks against the wheels (reverse the wheels position so the front face wheels facing inside of your trucks) and put a little force until the bearings sit completely into the wheels
Considering the physics of how these boards work it astonishes me that none of them offer options for heavier grip. There’s already a brand that offers really good tape, Vicious Grip Tape, that is used extensively by the downhill community. It ruins your shoes much faster but basically glues your feet to the board. It also comes in 12x10 mats instead of long rolls so you can place it just where you need. I’ve been in the market for an electric board and my main concern with a lot of them is voiding warranty for changing the grip.
Daniel that foam grip tape, will it still glue to the board after you heated it? I mean can you for example just heat and loose the area around the trucks, and then glue it back to the board again? I have a Meepo NLS pro that also have that foam grip tape that cover the bolts, and I might have to change the rear motor truck on it.
Hi Daniel Kwan , can you tell me that was there any significant difference between the Foam Griptape or the Standard One. & Do you prefer a Graphic Griptape or a Regular black Foam Griptape. Im going to use a graphic Griptape on my First Board of my Own Eskate Brand. Hey Daniel, thanks a lot for the quality content. I'm planning on doing this with an Exway Wave. Do you feel a big difference between a regular grip tape and one with the shock absorbing foam? Thanks a lot!
Dan the man, it looked like you removed a water seal from your board when removing your grip tape, I wouldn't ride in the rain with that board anymore.🇺🇸
weird questions, but how come everyone charges their boards wheels up? is it just in case it kicks on and runs away or just for no reason and im being weird?
If the baseplate screws are countersunk, then you don’t need to take off the baseplates. I removed them because I want the screws to be accessible and not covered by the new grip tape.
Why take off the wheels? I have an electric longboard seems a pain in the ass! Also Ive seen a few others not take off the wheels is that just to put in on your table steady or is there another reason?
I want to be able to access the screws holding the truck baseplates. If I don't take off the trucks then those screws will be covered under the new grip tape. Some people prefer that for a cleaner look.
This is how bad skateboard shops put on grip tape because it's quick and Stanley blades are cheap. seriously people, buy a file and do it properly, that way you won't be putting a hard edge on your grip tape like shown in the video that inevitably leads to it being caught on something and pealing up and dirt starts seeping in. First part great (or leave the board propped up on a radiator) second part lose the hard object and just file off the access, a quick pass to start with to create a line you can see and work on, then a slightly harder grind to remove the access leaving a perfectly beveled edge that can't be caught on anything There are no other parts, skate. Tools needed: File.
Hammer the bearings is not recommended! Just use your trucks to slide the bearing inside the wheels ;) The kegel is only 80mm, why did not choose the caguama 85mm? Keep your excellent work!
Hi. I've got the same wheels on the front of my hub board and noticed a significant difference in ride quality. What differences have you noticed from the original exway wheels?
i have the same issue with the holes being covered on my lycaon board lol.. might take it to zumiez and have it re gripped lol so i can get some lights on that shit.. dangerous at night..btw where yall located.. eboard buddies would be dope
You should have been cutting from the top of the board, not below with a direct downwards cut. That would allow you to trim downwards and not lose any of the adhesive edge. Just my thoughts.
At the moment I only send them to people who used my affiliate discounts dkwan.com/freestickers 😁 I’d like to set up a shop but haven’t found a cost effective express option yet.
Try Getting a B DUROMETER the durometer svale go from 0-100 BUT is only accurate in the middle 50% (25-75) A durometer is a leftover from skating with hard wheels (street skating) B or C is a lot more effective for e-skate....
using hammer isn't good over time you can actually use the tool to push it in with the bigger diameter part or I use my fingers so you don't damage the bearing.
I don't believe the hammer slam is a great idea, just seems kinda sketch. I've been pushing my bearings using my trucks, i believe that is more gentle on your bearings.

Isopropyl alcohol also helps a lot to remove grip tape. You can also spray it with pulverizer on tape for convenience.
Looking forward to the riot maintenance tips!

i love your videos, bro. keep going
Does anyone know the exact name for the grip tape? I’m looking to buy it but I can’t find it in taobao.
