What do you guys think of train travel? PS - Vlogs of the park visits from this past weekend are coming out next :) Previous upload: ruclips.net/video/9dg_UBoaCsU/видео.html
Trains are awesome and super fun, downside it can be expensive and it is just like road tripping but no driving! I’m sure you are ready for this chapter 🤘🌈💕
For me as a German, it's funny to watch an adult man taking the train for the first time. Our trains look a bit more comfortable, but they are always too late.
Our lovely nation is run by the fossil fuel & automotive industry 😍 plus our rail systems are private and really only owned by 2 companies who operate in completely different regions so they don't ever have to compete or improve their service. Ahh the beauty & efficiency of corporate america 🇺🇸🙄🤢
Omg hun you would love England, you can get trains everywhere!! Well, when they are running of course 🙄🙄 Loved this vlog-can’t wait for more train travel in the future xx
America is not a TINY nation like the UK. While this short less than an evening ride of around 5 plus hours may be considered a long ride in the UK, there is the Texas Eagle overnight sleeper train running on these tracks from Chicago to St. Louis that continues on all the way to Los Angeles after spending THREE nights on the Texas Eagle. I am sure most of the British would have chosen to FLY that distance in a few hours instead of a few days, just like the USPS chose to so for the mail long before UPS, FedEx, and Amazon were a thing....
The Trainshed Restaurant looked so cute! I love that whole area wow. I've never taken a train like this either. See you in the next one Alex, thanks for the vlog
Hey Alex, One day you should do a Northern California trip to visit the 3 major parks there Santa cruz beach board walk, California’s Great America, and Six flags Discovery kingdom I would love that❤.
The first mistake you're making is showing up for a train an hour early like it's a plane. Do like a European and arrive at the station 5 minutes before departure, think you have enough time for a stop at the cafe, then run down the platform dropping crossoint crumbs as you wave at the staff to wait for you, then spend the first 20 mins of the journey complaining about it being too hot as you worked yourself up a sweat
bro congrats on your first train ride! Here in the US we don't have enough trains and it's a shame. Slowly that's starting to improve and people are considering taking the train more seriously as a method of transportation. It's a really fun and chill way to travel. If you enjoyed this shorter distance trip you should look into taking an Amtrak long distance train, most of them start or end in Chicago, like the Empire Builder, which goes to Seattle (or Portland) through the Cascades and it's INCREDIBLY gorgeous. It takes a little longer to get to your destination but part of the value is having the time to yourself to just read or enjoy the scenery while you travel.
Pretty chaotic on some of your video moves but overall I love these kinds of videos...first time train rider. I feel like every time someone rides a train for the first time, they want to do it again and again and that's what we need in America.
@@AdventuresWithAlex please do! Maybe a new series to think for! Also I am dying to go to canadas theme parks! I know there’s already some out there BUT NONE WITH YOUUU! Slay, Happy Pride 🌈🤘💕💕
Was just at Six Flags St. Louis yesterday ( 6-10-24 ) which is where I grew up going to can't wait to see your visit to Holiday World and Six Flags St. Louis rode on ninja, batman, and boss for the first time. Boss gave me a bruise on my left knee and was a rough ride also met Petunia Pig with my brother-in-law right before we left and we got our picture with her.
Trivia from an old man: Our family took the train out of Chicago for vacations, I'd say in the 60s. When you flushed the toilet, that flap at the bottom? Yeah, it hinged down and dumped the contents of the toilet ... onto the railroad track. If you held the flush button down the flap would stay open and you could see the metal rail zipping by below. Thoughts: Kids used to play near and on railroad tracks, yuck. If you had to go while stopped at the station, do you flush and leave your mark right there at the station? Or not flush and leave your mark in the bathroom? Yuck.
So I’m taking my first ever Amtrak trip soon and watching your video was awesome! Thank you for your experience! Just subscribed and followed your channel! Amazing video and content! Also just a small side note, I love your Pride band! It’s so cool! 🏳️🌈
As profoundly dysfunctional as trains are in the US, it's still a fantastic way to travel if it's an option. I do DC to Philly or NYC a lot, and it's not the smoothest trip (tracks really need work), but it's so, so, so much better than driving or flying. Plus, it drops you right in the center of town and you don't have to pay for parking or an Uber from the airport. I really hope this recent movement in the right direction continues and we start getting more and better train service throughout the country. I didn't realize how bad trains really was here until I traveled in Europe and experienced how much better it could be. But with some work & some funding, the future is bright.
Dude! I am going on a train for my first time next week!! I am going to make a video about that too! Springfield MA to Newport News VA!! It is a long train ride, but I am going to survive don't worry! Can't wait
Damn it, you're wearing a Good Gravy shirt. My biggest regret from my coaster trip a couple weeks ago is that I declined a discounted GG shirt when I was buying my Voyage shirt. I'm glad you weren't as dumb as me.
The Texas Eagle is a long distance overnight sleeper train that goes all of the way to Los Angeles whereas the Lincoln/Missouri Riverrunner is/are considered a regional day train. On the Texas Eagle there was a Cross Country Cafe car whose tables are RESERVED for the sleeping car passengers who paid much more for their ride than you did in coach. On the Lincoln/Missouri Riverrunner there is no sleeper cars and the business class/cafe car's tables are available for everyone. When you pay a thousand dollars or more for a ride and can't eat your dinner provided with the sleeping car fare when someone in coach who paid less than a hundred dollars is using a table, or coach passengers using all of them, you would be PISSED OFF... With Amtrak other overnight sleeping trains there is a diner car RESERVED or the sleepers, and a sightseeing lounge cafe car for the coach passengers with tables. Unfortunately due to Amtrak ongoing Superliner fleet refurbishment program, the shared train sets of the Texas Eagle and Capitol Limited had their sightseeing lounge cafe cars pulled from service until all in the fleet have been refurbished. To refurbish cars cars have to be pulled from service. Amtrak WISELY chose NOT to pull them from the trains serving the more scenic west coast. Sucks to ride on the shared train sets of the Texas Eagle and Capitol Limited currently, no sightseeing lounge cafe car...
Hey bestie!! I may be slow! But what do u rate Amtrak? Its a easy way to travel as it has almost every state except for south dakota and if you want to go to florida ! Take it from chicago to washington dc I think and transfer from washington dc and it drops you off right in orlando FL The cons of taking amtrak a lot of delays bad food etc Pros : Bring own food . I remember taking it from PHIL To RMT NC and was supposed to arrive around to NC Around 12 AM and ended not being there until 4 AM
Haha hell yeah, welcome to the club of being a trainpilled thoosie! I also sold my car when I moved to Chicago and have some stories from experiences attempting to get to parks. Some, like Great America, are super possible! (even if it takes a while longer) Some are….a doozy!
yeeesss trainpill thoosie era is here!!! Yeeaahh i'm a little scared to try to transit to great america lol I may just hit up zipcar for great america trips
eeeehhhhh yeah lol i figured anyone on my car couldn't get too far with it... but that was definitely way too risky lmao. I won't be doing that again 😅
As someone who lives in Columbus OH, a top 15 city with almost a million residents, we STILL have no Amtrak somehow! I’ve taken it from Toledo all the way to Oregon, yet somehow the capital city has no idea how to get it done 😂 oh government
Houston only has trice weekly service, as does Phoenix if you consider a town's station more than twenty miles away from downtown serving Phoenix... Another large state capital Nashville doesn't have any Amtrak services either...

That's probably because we cherish our cars in America 😂
