For anyone who's really undecided about the sport, or who lives far away from any ski resorts but still really wants to learn, I really recommend buying a caster board (Ripstik is probably the most well-known one and available at any big box store in the US) and trying to learn to ride it. It's a lot cheaper than a lift pass + gear rental + lessons + travel, and if you can learn it well enough to ride confidently on flat to gently sloped pavement, you'll have a good grasp of the balance and turning fundamentals needed for snowboarding.
I grew up in a super flat area with no snow so I never learned as a kid, but I had a Ripstik that I rode a lot. When I finally got to try snowboarding for the first time, I found that it was remarkably similar, and I was actually riding blues by the end of my first day. No lessons, no RUclips, just 100+ hours riding my Ripstik around the neighborhood. It was so helpful that as an adult I went out and bought a new one just so I could practice my snowboard switch riding off the snow.

The first day is the worst day tho i don’t agree you should start on the bunny hill you have to throw your self in the fire start on a blue and by that you force your self to learn my brother learned on a blue run and progressed faster unlike me i learned on the bunny hill and learned slower tho I am quite better in other things like park and carving tho I learned how to carve in a couple seconds on a blue run so guys who r jerry’s throwing yourself into the fire helps to get a faster result but confidence is key if feel uncomfortable to up that hill don’t there cause most likely something is gonna go wrong naturally my family and me are fast learners so they way we learned may not work for everyone it’s a slav thing one thing I recommend is not to be delulu abt snowboarding don’t think ur gonna be shawn white the first day it take practice and dedication to get good and also another thing I hated helmets and thought I looked dumb in it and i had a big ass head u know wut will look dumber if u come down in a toboggan with ski patrol so wear your helmet catching a edge while going 20 mph hurts
