- Alberta Fishing Regulations Crayfish
Crayfish cannot be harvested by any means from the Beaver River
or its tributaries.
When fishing for crayfish with a rod and reel (angling) a sportfishing
licence is required and sportfishing regulations apply (for example
no harvest of crayfish when waters are closed to angling).
When fishing for crayfish using a dip net, seine net, trap or by
hand, a sportfishing licence is not required and is permitted at any
time of year.
The retention and transport of live crayfish is illegal. All retained
crayfish must be immediately killed.

What river u catch them
Just walk through the river shallows with sandals...you'll see them reversing away from you...sneak up behind them and grab them. Delicious with sauce and rice when you remove the head shell plate and third middle tail fin. What did the First Nations and First Canadians think of local crayfish? I ate some tonight:)
Thanks for watching!
Only a few people eat the crayfish in my country.
The Blackfoot of Alberta used to eat crayfish and other creatures but the cree only ate aquatic mammals like beaver and otter which the Blackfoot didn't eat and both the Blackfoot and cree only ate fish in times of extreme hunger
You ate an Indian?
Nice size crawfish not bad but where is the crab boil
After I make breakfast for my son I’m heading down to the river and toss in a trap, maybe some crayfish for supper tonight

Have you ever trapped for cray in BC?
@@Alberta1stPodcast No, never.
Enjoy trapping! 👍
it is legal to use trap?
Thanks for watching!
crayfish trap is legal in AB.
@@superstrike Thanks.
Most parts of Alberta they’re considered an invasive species so they want you to kill them. But they taste great with some wild garlic. Red deer river has them now. A cheap can of cat food in a minnow trap that’s modified works great. I’ve caught thousands at this point.
calgary told us these are invasive and to fish them ...
