The stakes behind Ukraine's surprise attack inside Russian territory

- Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is gambling that his surprise attack into Russia can convince Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the 2½-year-old war which has produced an estimated one million casualties. But Putin's forces continue to rely on the sheer weight of numbers to grind Ukraine down, and Zelenskyy must depend on America's deeply divided politics for the aid which he needs to stave off Russian assaults on his front lines and air attacks against his cities. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin talks with former Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Miley about the stakes.

Ukraine will soon be manufacturing its own long range weapons.
А раньше почему не производили ? не пишите чушь !😀😀😀😀
The west gave them the tech to do so. When the war began it was about defending Ukraine but now they bring the fight inside Russia.

Putin's folly.
The Russian munitions depot bunkers could easily be destroyed because the Russians left the heavy steel doors open. They couldn't stand the smell of the low quality North Korean propellant of their rockets. Then simply FPV drones had to fly into the bunkers and.... kaboom.
sure made fun out of them ? and kim said he will send millions more and dont cry about it ! for being big ******* its fair ppl think !

I love CBS Sunday Mornings ❤
Thank you for bringing this show and news 🎉
They're NOT long-range missiles! ATACMS is a medium-range system. Sheesh. Can we'd get something right for once?
How does this conflict end?
What does the real legit end of it look like, what steps lead to it?
Probably gonna have to start with Russia leaving Ukraine
@@lucassevey5989 Russia will not abandon the ethnic-Russians in Donbas and Crimea. Those 5 regions are now legally part of the Russian Federation. Russia can't desert them!
Ukraine will have to concede those 5 regions and possibly Kharkov and Odessa as well!

"Republicans & Russians what's the difference?"
Been saying that since Trump took office & it's even more obvious now what the answer is.
Zelensky has proven that he is capable of accelerating the demilitarisation of Ukraine by 20%, losing more than 15,300 UA troops plus 1,053 armoured vehicles in the Kursk area alone! What a stunning accomplishment by Russia!
Combined with the more than 60,000 troops the UA is losing each month in the SMO, 16,810 this week, 'it should all be over by Xmas'!

I saw it coming. Dumb nato expansion
@@Random_Dude42 its never between ukraine. US promised that no expansion back then. Dumb ukraine should have stay neutral but funny boy zelensky acting tough n got his wishes destroyed
It appears a putler expansion as he has more palaces than Tsar Nicholas II. And we know how that went down.
As opposed to the wonderful moscow supermarkets and the benevolent rule of putin? Too bad you can't actually experience what those Ukrainian folks who are fighting for their freedom are because you wouldn't be posting nonsense.
@@Random_Dude42 Did the USSR have the right to put nuclear missiles in Cuba? The US didn't see it that way!
@@graemepeters5717 Did the US invade Cuba?
The video's description says the dude smacking his junk on a piano (ukraine) is trying to negotiate an end to the war by bombing deep inside Russia - 🤣
This is REALLY all about the BRICS nations moving away from the US dollar
Then why aren't all the other BRICS countries involved?
So obviously it's not + the US dollar still rules the World's economy.
BRICS isn't going to be a significant part of the world's economy anytime soon.
Ruble is absolutely worthless. Nobody wants that trash.
Why Europe has to help Ukraine? Ukraine is not in Europe, Ukraine is in USA. That the reason Europe doesn't send everything they have. Is USA problem.
Wow. You need a map.
World peace. Trump 2024.
Which?
Offensive war wirh Russia using Ukraine as our proxy
I do not approve!!!!
I do not approve your Putin lies.
NOT a proxy war. If you remember, it was PUTIN who INVADED Ukraine. The US and other countries are supplying weapons to give Ukraine what they need to defend themselves. If Putin would leave, the war would end. Ukraine would not invade Russia. Putin making ridiculous threats against the NATO is quite comical considering.
Sit down and rest those bone spurs.
Agreed, let Ukraine fix this, with their money
@@redbarchetta8782 send your children to fight then
What is the percentage of aid that Europe is giving, and what is the percentage that USA is giving? I think Europe needs to help more because it’s their continent.
Europe IS providing more military, civilian, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine than the US is- by a massive margin. This has been the case *consistently* since the conflict began. There was one period from July - September 2022 where the US gave them the equivalent of approximately €14 billion, versus the EU’s €12.2 billion. That is the only time the US gave more than Europe lol, per the research of the Kiel Institute.
Then actually look at what Europe is spending. It's considerably more than it was a few years ago and the U.S.'s military budget is in part to fight the Russians so, we get to use up old amo, that would otherwise cost money to destroy and we're degrading putin's military. Maybe get out of your silo and find some real facts.
Russia's war affects all of us, there is only one earth. We should all help Ukraine.
