I was on a week long walk on the Offah's Dyke/ Wye Valley Way when he played this on Jo Whiley. I was lying in my tent on a perfectly clear, warm night in the campsite in Ross-on-Wye. It was perfect. As is this version of an absolute classic.
It's a beautiful re-imagining of one of his and Oasis's very best and most iconic songs. The bit that really gets me is the guitar solo. It's so wistful and melancholic, it conjures up images of an elderly person looking back at the photographs and memories of their life. Kind of like the video of Hurt by Johny Cash. Where the original Live forever solo soars with youthful vigour and energy this one is so understated and mature. It's magnificent. To me it feels like a different song to the original. This version feels like it's the grown up version of Rocking Chair.

You have to appreciate the way Noel breathes new life into his older songs. Sometimes it’s a dramatic reimagining like this or a simple tweak during a live performance, but it never fails to make a classic sound new and interesting all over again.
I’ve always liked this song better when Noel sings it. So glad he’s done a proper NGHFB recording of it! I hope he slowly re-does a lot of the old songs. He just keeps getting better with age. Which is so opposite of many or most musicians who lose their edge and their drive! I love him so much 💝

This is absolutely stunning. This breathes a whole new dimension into an already legendary song. The original version was far more suited to Liam's voice, these slower more emotional versions of Oasis classics are best suited to Noel's voice.
