This video was taken at Antheria on Friday, 2011. This was the "First Fur Con?" panel and I was invited by 2 and kage at the start of it to be a part of their demonstration, which I come in around 13:20 but watch the whole vid, if you want.
This is an excellent demonstration and explanation by 2 The Ranting Gryphon and Uncle Kage, with me as Haze Fox, to help describe the do's and dont's of a convention for new comers (which this was also my first con, even though i've been in the fandom for around 3 years ^_^).

@RWSsuits I was so excited when I was told I was going to be the person to come up there with them, honestly I didn't have any idea what to do and was kind of frozen in excitement most of the time.
When I went to my first convention, I ate a real breakfast, snacked for lunch, and had a real dinner every day. I'm surprised I didn't forget to eat! I did get a little bit of con crud I believe, but I took care of myself, and I had so much fun!
I am going to confuzzled this year and I am extremely worried about everything whilst I am in suit... Should I take Multivitamins? Will those help? I am also going for a shower every night and a swim every morning to keep me refreshed. I guess being my first time around so many people in suit, I am just worried.
Thanks, I learned from other Cons, mostly anime cons, that being prepared can be a benafit instead of a burden
well in that case we would have to, how much fur do you have, how many colors? and i still need a reference of your character. Any remaining fur can be sent back since it's buyer provided.
and is that of uncut fur or is a lot of it cut up and full of cutouts? And again, I will be needing a reference of your character. it doesn't have to be anything really professional looking as long as we can get the basic idea of how your character looks. If you want, you can send me PM with a link and i'll get to it as soon as I get a chance to, i'm a little busy at the moment, but as soon as I can, i'll get back to you with more info.
yup, bringing so many people together from different parts of the world also brings the germs and illnesses with along with them, even though the people who brought them may have already been immune to them, other people are very much vulnerable to them and can much easier get sick.
Ok, thanks for the info ^_^ I think I have to wait till 2014 until the first con comes up that I shall be old enough for.

About the dealers part and pricing problems, what about asking for a discount? It's not rude like asking for free artwork; and it's still not good, but would that be very bad?

that's cool, it's all upto you though, if you're interested in the furry fandom, then feel free to join in, if not, then that's fine as well, continue doing what you enjoy doing and you'll be happy.
There's no need to be worried, just follow these rules and you'll be absolutly fine.

This got me to be less nervous for my first convention... MFF will be my first next year hopefully as I get my suit after Anthrocon this year so I am not going. (Vowed my first huge con would be in my suit) :D Thank you guys for the help though in signs to do and such :3
@UnrelatedLove That's good to hear! Hope you have fun at your first con as well, both MFF and AC are very good cons to go to, antheria is a smaller con but was still a lot of fun.
...This explains why I felt like walking death, forcing me to leave, last year at Anime Detour.
is their a Billiards room at this con if their is I want too know so I can play 9 ball or 8 ball against someone suit or non suit
not guaranteed, but yes, some people do. they end up having so much fun that they go through something like a form of withdrawl when they have to leave
as far as I know, yes it's canceled, idk what happened but I don't think it's happening. califur is coming up soon though

Sadly, I must agree with this. I'm seeing this more and more now (and I work retail for a living), and it's tactless and insulting to haggle, especially when the products you sell are some of the best quality in the world.
yah true, pretty much any form of costumer can appreciate the tips in videos like these.
it's fine, but yes, taking a multivitamine everyday helps for sure, but aside from that, the best thing u can do is drink plenty of water. And no, soda does not count as water, water itself is the best thing you can drink. I personaly drink about 12-24OZ of water right before going suiting, it keeps u well hydrated while suiting and can keepu going for hours. but don't be afraid to use the headless lounge if needed, it is a very ideal spot for suiters to rest and ger hydrated at.
22:30 I've had kids yank my tail so much that when I started walking, my tail completely came off of its seams. It's so depressing to look at.
well by the looks of it this con isn't going on this year, idk about next year
Since I'm a cosplayer and now a suiter, I carry water with me at all times and nature valley bars to tie me over until i go get "real" food at denny's or a quickie mart. Its good to have a time to go eat somewhere
@TheFurryDragon but if you follow the 621 rule, (and take a multivitamin tablet everyday, like I do lol) then you should be ok, right? xD

OK, You learn somethng everyday, I generally try to get the sketchbook back before I leave the con but the name idea is one I will take into consideration.
we actually don't take fur from customers, we order a certain quality and would like to stick to that type. and partial fursuits start at $550 and depending on the complexity and amount of colors on the character, it may cost more. To give a quote, I would first need a reference picture of your character to know what it looks like.
yah I was the guy in Haze Fox, the suiter that got pulled up to the front
they can get even hotter than that, depending on what the temperature is around you at the time of suiting.
some headless lounges at cons will provide extra long straws to help a fursuiter drink water. I would get my own though so as to not rely on that.
the "whoa!! SHIT!!!!!!!" makes me laugh every time

well most cons allow minors to attend but require an adult to be with them at all times, preferably a parent, but anyone over the age of 18 can be considered a temporary guardian at most cons for what i've seen so if you have a friend over 18 that's going, they could be your guardian for the weekend.
But i need it to match my existing bodysuit!! Can't we work something out?

yah water especially is very important while suiting, it's far too easy to get dehydrated while suiting.
The dalmatian? If the guy wearing the suit was also the maker(dunno if he lets others wear his suits) he updates his FA pretty recently. No worries.

yup, made them myself, was the first pair of paws I made. I dont much care for them, I like fluffy paws. Yay fluffy paws!

I have a question I am going to RMFC 2015. I am a type one brittle diabetic. Who can I talk to about to make sure I do not have a sugar crash. I do not drink alcohol or do illegal drugs. I just want to be safe.
You should do whatever precautions you normally take on a day to day basis, and DO NOT FORGET anything like shots or eating or whatever it is you need. Set phone or watch alarms if you need to. If you need someone to know what is wrong if something bad does happen, wear something like a badge that says "I am (condition), if an emergency happens please do (response)." Now another precaution you can take is bringing a friend or family member who knows how to take care of you, who can be by your side during the con.
I'm going to RMFC 2015 as well! I live in Colorado and it's so fun!
Keeping Protein Bars (ones without garbage in them, cliff bars are good for eg.) on hand is also a good idea (I am hypoglycemic myself and also suffer severe and sometimes random crashes) Avoid Energy Drinks like a fatal disease, although Natural Soda's with real sugar are fine in moderation. (Joes/Hansens etc)
yah, it just so happens that my mate and I makes suits together and are taking commissions. Fursuits are rather expensive as it is, but we're on the cheeper side of suit makers and still offer excellent quality and comfort with our suits. I've heard from a few people that works really well. personally i'd like to install a bull horn of some sort into my suit and blow it at a kid when they pull my tail. that would scare the crap outta them and i'd be laughing hysterically.

lol, yah that might work. but in all seriousness, taking a multivitamin every day would in fact keep you healthier and be able to do more at a con than someone who would normally have the same physical capabilities as you that doesn't take a multivitamin.
I think the rule should be 6-2-8-1. 6 hours of sleep, 2 meals, 8 cups of water, and 1 shower. You need hydration.

I have the 6-3-2 rule, 6 hours of sleep, 3 meals (morning,1pm,evening), and shower 2 times a day(morning, evening)

17:58 i know this from experience, i was fursuiting and went to give a bunny at the annual carnival a hug, and the bunny turned out to be a girl, i didn't know this cuz she was in overalls and looked extremely masculine.

I'm from the Midwest as well, but I call the drink soda nonetheless. I suspect there is a scientific name for that amalgamation of pathogens that causes so much trouble at conventions, but anybody can use whatever colloquialism they want to.
