I'm a DJ since 1985, and when turntables disappeared from the Clubs here in Sweden in the early/mid 90's, I got myself the very first Pioneer CDJ-500. Later CDJ-500II/DJM-500 and so it has continued until I got the NXSS2 setup in 2016... As most clubs and venues have gear, I don't need to bring my own gear very often, but when I do, it's a pain in the a** to lug a full club setup around. When the request for bringing my own gear became more frequent, I got the XDJ-700/DJM-450 setup, and it's a lot easier to carry and still have everything I need with a few exceptions. I prefer modular setups as I have different setups to mix around with, but when Denon Prime 4 was released, I got one, and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Engine was not ready for working DJ's at all yet. A few years past and I've been very satisfied with my Pioneer gear and it has never failed me, but when the Numark Mixstream Pro was released a couple of years ago I was offered one for $500, which is peanuts in the Pioneer world of gear. This one has no battery and no Amazon chip, but otherwise it's identical with the Go. At the beginning the Engine software was very limiting on things like the effects, and there's still no way to turn off the vinyl touch on the platter, as you can on Denon gear. On Pioneer gear I still use CDJ mode, so it's a bummer, but not the whole world. Slowly as Engine is updated and the unit is getting better I've been using it more and more at home, but with the Engine 4.0, the unit became useful on the level that I wanted to at least test it on a gig. Now, 4 gigs with it later, I can tell it's really doing it's job, even on a professional level. Certainly in the jobs I've used it for when I play lounge sets, 3-5 hours, mixing traditionally with long transitions on the ins and outs. Mostly Afro House, Soulful Hose and Vocal House in general, but also some commercial music. If I need to play Party style, short and cut mixing, I will stick to Pioneer gear because of the CDJ mode and the timing of the buttons and jog wheels, but for the rest, My Numark works just as good. For someone not tainted by other gear like me, this could probably be the best and only gear you will ever need. The lack of extra channels and XLR mic input can be compensated by using a small PA-mixer in between the Numark and the sound system. They are very small, and will make you mic sound a lot better, give you more headroom for your Numark (Sounds better), a spare channel for a backup music source, and maybe a both out for when the internal speakers are not enough.
I own 2 of these devices and I'm happy with separated Filter design. I had a lot different mixers with Filter FX and this one on Pro Go unit is easier in use and basically better
yea its def a great unit if you dont wanna bring so much stuff just to play music for people. you just need the unit, wifi connection/streaming subscription or USB SD Card, speaker wires and a portable powered speaker. you can be set up and playing music in less than 1 minute! Thats nuts!!
I've been using this thing for everything from weddings to New Year's last year (they booked me again this year) and it's truly the most convenient controller in the game and a lot of fun to use. That being said, if you had just waited another month, you could've done this review with stems functionality. But yes, it's dope.
I have owned one for over a year now. Over 70gigs done on it . Its truly a game changer . My only issue is the build quality . The crossfader is the weak link if you use itz they also had issues with some units with speakers going out . I wish on the next revision to have longer pitch faders and 8pads. I also had an issue with the master output being to loud and clipping most of the speakers at the 12oclock , I would honestly trade the speakers out for other features. Both output and better mic set up. And filter placement as well. Maybe a Mixstream Pro Go + for $999 . For now im thinking of getting rid of it and getting a used Denon Prime 2 for $800 . I still own the XDJ XZ for main gigs and the SC6000M for separates with a DJM A9 but need a small gear for small gigs .
I agree with you on the quality. I have owned a Mixstream Pro for almost 3 years now and my Cue and Play buttons need replacement. Overall this is an amazing stand alone controller especially for small gigs. I currently use it for smaller gigs and use the XZ as well for bigger main gigs.
Hello, I bought a Numark Mixtrack Platinum FX controller. Would it be possible to get your opinion on this controller and maybe a few tips on how to best use it?
Only if you use with software, but if that, mapping, is what you want to do, I'd suggest buying a controller instead. This is a standalone unit and them you learn how to use as intended, and even if you intend yo use it both ways, you should use it in a similar way both as standalone and with software, to avoid brain freeze when pushing the wrong button...
@@Tesnopesno It's useful in case you use it with friends and some of them prefer using Serato or Virtual DJ because they can. But buying it for private use only, it's made for standalone use.
Im really seriously thinking of getting one of these... Im fed up of problems with Serato and old controllers, I boguht a very strong laptop (Ryzen 7, which I ended up discovering its not as good as intel for DJing) and it keeps giving me some glitches with Serato and my DDJ SX2. I was thinking of getting an used pair of any pen drive supporting CDJ, but these stand alone units look good for my purpose (some live streaming and practicing, I dont play on events any more). So maybe getting rid of laptop for playing my stuff makes me feel very interested, the only downside of this Numark are the small faders (i am open format, something I switch from hi to low bpm) and the fact that I have a very huge music collection (more than 38k songs lol) which makes me unsure if my extrernal drives would be fast enough. If anyone out there could help me with these doubts, i would be glad. For me, getting rid of the laptop for playing -- obviously there is the need of having a software plaftorm for you management and so on -- sounds good enough.
Hey there, please suggest between Novation Launchkey Mini MK3 VS Novation FL Key Mini... I am confused, initially i was looking to buy Novation launchpad for EDM and Dubstep on FL Studio and Ableton, then i saw some videos of Novation FL Key Mini, including your video. So now i am confused which one to choose.
Sure you have the Go? It's the third version of the Mixstream Pro and was released just a little bit over a year ago, but you can still buy all of them. The color scheme tells if it's the Go at a glance.

hmm. can you map buttons in that platform? those filters could be turned into gain knobs or smthn and gain/eq could be with filter then.
Hmmmm....When i get mine imma try that.
I will need to check, not entirely sure

@@dj-peterofficial2753 yeah, it doesn't make using standalone as a controller
