My first jazz piece was a Jody Jazz HR* 6 and it served me well. I found later that I personally prefer slightly more resistance and have since switched to Morgan mouthpieces but I gotta admit that DV HR sounds lovely and I've always appreciated Jody's dedication and enthusiasm. He's also fun to listen to! Solid stuff, gentlemen.
There's something about having metal on metal... brass on brass.. (okay, the cork in between), and then the GOLD PLATING?! Golden Ratio proportions??!! These, to me, are the selling points of the DV Metal mouth piece. The sound comes from all these points, AND ofcourse; the baffle and chambering. I'm glad that Jody has the patent on the golden mean proportions of the second opening. That's gangsta. Well done Jody for re-discovering this renaissance golden ratio to incorporate into your work. 👏🏽 P.S I'll be buying a DV in the new year after watching MANY videos on all your mouthpieces! Thank you, and happy new year! P.P.S Please could someone recommend a tip opening to go with a 2.0 M/H D'addario Jazz Select Reed? Shall I move up to a 3.0 as l've heard in some videos about this mouthpiece/reed combo? God bless!!!
Great video, thanks. I'm being a bit picky i know, but it would have been interesting to have heard the three mouthpieces being played on a less expensive saxophone.

What about the DV Chicago? Thought that was the one between the the original DV and NY. No mention of it on this video. Have to say that JJ do fantastic marketing.
I've got 5 JJs across the 4 horn sizes. My go-to MPCs.

DV HR Soprano would be awesome
Great vid, but the guitarist’s beard and those strings is an accident waiting to happen.
Good thing Jody was blowing the dude's chin whiskers away w/ his super strong altissimo! 😂😂😂
Excellent 👍
A++++++ JJody
