WMATA Metrobus NEW!!! 2023 New Flyer Xcelsior CHARGE XE60

Here is WMATA NEW 2023 NF Xcelsior CHARGE XE60 #1060 on Rt W4 heading to Deanwwood Station. WMATA has ordered 2 of these NF XE60s (1060-1061) first battery electric articulated buses in the fleet which entered service on 11/13/23. These XE60s will be assigned to the Rt W4 on certain AM & PM rush trips. As part of WMATA electric buses test project 10 more electric buses will be coming in 2024 (5 NF XE40s & 5 Nova LFSes). All 12 of these electric buses including the XE60s will assign to Shepherd Parkway division since it was the selected location to test these electric buses. WMATA goal is to have an all electric bus fleet by 2042 so in the coming year they plan to only ordering low or zero emission buses only.
