Tar Barrel in Dale by George Unthank ❤️

This is one of my favourite New Year’s songs! Just heard it as a version by Rachel and The Unthanks. And it is by George Unthank. I think it may be a uniquely British tradition, and I am told that it also happens in Devon as well as Northumberland, where flaming barrels of tar are brought into the village and set alight for the New Year!
