The thing I love about this intervention is Jorma states just the facts. No assumptions, no speculation, no making up facts when he talks about Janis. Just honest truthful answers. Short and to the point. Just like playing, less is more most of the time. Great interview. 2023, I'm 72 in New Hampshire 👍☮️
These people can't be replaced. Please be sure they deserve nothing but our highest respect. Never to be be forgotten, always to be honest, always to be remembered. With love and and the best of memories.
Jorma is such a grounded guy. Music is his mojo! I love this whole video. Being a "Folkie" really has its advantages!! Love that Martin guitar he's holding!!
So interesting to hear Jorma talk about the transformation from the beat poetry scene (50's), to the coffee house scene Jorma describes (folk, blues - 1962-64), and eventually into the rock and roll that we discovered in the late 1960's) - the Airplane, the Dead, Janis (1966-69+). I remember my friend Keith playing me this new record with an outrageous cover and sound - "Cheap Thrills" when it became the #1 album on Billboard (1968). I had never heard anything like it before, and still love to listen to it 50 years later!
Jorma I LOVE YOU TO PIECES. thank you for keeping Us sane during all this chaos. You got me into the Blues from Son House to Rev. Gary Davis etc. You are one of the few true Gentlemen in the entire Music business n I have such love n respect for you n your extraordinary Music. Your guitar n Voice still give me goosebumps the second I hear it. You, Grace, Jack, Papa John, Paul got me thru my tormented, wild awesome teens; even saved my life a few times. Thank you doesn't begin to express my gratitude for all you have given/done for Humanity. Many Blessings to you n your Family. Oh n please tell Jack he is still the sexiest guy around (n the best Bassest ever.) My teen motto: Sing like Grace, play like Jorma, write like Paul n marry Jack, lol.
Great Jorma, I was about 21 when I went in love with these wonderful songs and (only hearing) learned Jorma's & reverend Gary Davis 2/4 thumb picking style !!! Thanks Jorma !!!
Thanks Jorma! ...First time I saw you was with Hot Tuna in the early 1970's at UMD. Your music and insights about music have enriched my life, thank you!
Really enjoyed listening to jorma and grace talk. Got my mind off of other stuff and even lol a few times. Also took me back for a bit to the bay area and different days-thanks
Thanks Jorma. Saw JA on a double bill with the Doors at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Jim dancing next to Grace. Then he went up the stairs again and collapsed. So we saw the Doors as trio, the bastard. :-) Great memories though! Saw JA and Hot Tuna later at the Dutch Woodstock: Kralingen Pop Festival Rotterdam. Those were the days. Love and Peace from Holland.
Not surprising that Jim Morrison is part of the 27 club along with Joplin, Cobain, Henrix, Winehouse, Jones.... Jim partied to the Extreme!! Appeared wasted at many shows! So bad that people demanded their money back!$$
This performance gets me..was just a teen when I first discovered that voice and rag times sound on some left of the dial radio staion..maybe Bob faas station ..the distinctive vocals..dylan...jorma..who were they, these voices coming through the airwaves in the late night? Loved to imagine who they were...years go by...if you get to piece the voice to the person perceptions change and things thoughts expections fall where they may...I got to say jormas finger style was so alluring, another realm...God bless you..its always been about the music..whinin' boy...

Cool answers to horrible questions. How many times are you going to ask the same question and have Jorma say "as I've said several times I don't know about her personal life"
Here's my questions to Grace; would you like Jorma and Jack come to you house and film a short set? Are you writing any music in your self isolation? It's really great to hear from ya!
Yep..lotta plain dumb out there..they aren't pro enough to do better. Yet that said we all do our self's a hugh favor by not piling on that with tons of criticism..its a haul we just better leave it off the truck bro🎈
The Jefferson Airplane was the Baddest Assed American band ever ! They put a black player in the band at the height of their fame .But what made them great was what they talked about. I miss them.
hell, we even had pastor floyd shaffer as our clown minister there for a few years... mime with make-up worship service... floyd was chaplain for the big circus clown gathering down in FL some time ago...
Hot tuna has this ROCKING l.p. out years back all i didn't have it it has a song it's chors is talkin bout you i do mean you just trying to get a message through yea tryin to get a message through i was a wee lad i grew up on music playing pro at 15 what's the name of that song and record. By hot tuna as i learned to play these guys ARE HOTMAN great music the guitarist n bassist bad to the bone man
@ Stephen Griffith - Sounds like you're referencing Hot Tuna's cover of the Chuck Berry song "Talkin' Bout You", from their album "Hoppkorv" (1976). Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/_xZ7yutXqgk/видео.html There's also some live videos on RUclips of them performing this song that you may enjoy. I would also recommend you check out their album "Burgers" (1972) featuring violinist extraordinare, Papa John Creach, which many consider their finest studio LP. ruclips.net/p/PLE85129CD1F00BC46
We saw Electric Hot Tuna at My Fathers Place, on Long Island back in the 80s.... great crowd, great music.... I go there in my mind from time to time!!🎵🎶💥🎵🎶💥

What a fascinating 86 minutes! Thanks so much for this one, guys!
Recently Robert Plant was asked which song he wished that he had written. He responded “White Rabbit.”

Thank u Grace and Jorma. Lov

49:30 jack just finished paying off his student loan!😅great..so many defaulted
I wish the questions for jorma were about him not janis. How would he know the answers to most of these questions?
Not only did the interviewer ask him what did Janis Joplin wear - and other inane questions - but he asked him twice.
Yep..lotta plain dumb out there..they aren't pro enough to do better.
Yet that said we all do our self's a hugh favor by not piling on that with tons of criticism..its a haul we just better leave it off the truck bro🎈
wpow.....that was pretty cool...

"Some day we're gonna be archetypes" wow
That was eerily prophetic.
Nice painting..grace did that?
The Jefferson Airplane was the Baddest Assed American band ever !

hell, we even had pastor floyd shaffer as our clown minister there for a few years... mime with make-up worship service... floyd was chaplain for the big circus clown gathering down in FL some time ago...
i think he even did a gig at the lama foundation place in taos NM...
pete seeger offered floyd the chaplain position on the ship 'clearwater' .....

My cousin lived on Fremont St. in Santa Clara. I wonder which house he lived in.
