    i have 3 pairs of mine, god i can't explain how much i love watching them flying....for 10 months they didn't interact with me at all. they were busy exploring every corner of my house. now a days like a week ago they have started interacting and sitting on my shoulder, watching me work on my desktop.... cuddle at my shoulder... they even fight for shoulder which i never thought would happen but it is what it is now.....

    I can easily imagine the noise. I had an aviary 40 budgies back in the early 90s in Hobart, Tasmania. They loved the rain. They'd all come out into the open flight and climb over the wire chatting excitedly. In the morning, they'd wake with the sun and chatter away. The neighbours (fortunately) like it. The main problem was when they had nigh fright and would start flying around everywhere. I'd have to turn on the outside light and be down there with a torch to ensure they settled and none were injured.

      Thank you for your concern for our budgies! This video is not an accurate depiction of the space our budgies have available or the care they receive. It's just a snapshot of one part of their space during one brief (and interesting) moment in their lives. Our Budgie Buddies space has several rooms, as well as an outdoor aviary, and much of the perching is higher in the room than what this video shows. Keepers purposely chose a more open space for this release, to allow the budgies plenty of unobstructed room to fly when the transport boxes were opened. When the birds were released, they all flocked to one tree, even though there were many others available to them. Once they started acclimating to the new space, they did spread out more. They also do get lots of vegetables as part of their diet - keepers report that kale is their favorite! Thanks for caring about our budgies as much as we do!

    Hi, Budgie Landing is too hot. They are trying to recreate the Australian grassland where they live, but every color bird except the green ones have been bred in captivity and are used to AC. The birds are visibly hot and panting, and the guests have sweat pouring down all over them like a Sauna. Why don’t they provide the birds a cool mist spray to take a bath in, like the lamas have? They would really love it, and so would the guests. The birds are too hot and not really hungry for the seed sticks, and the place is too hot to stay in longer than a few minutes.

    • @CheyenneMtnZoo
      @CheyenneMtnZoo  Год назад

      Thank you for your concern! It sounds like you might be referring to a different zoo as we don't have llamas or "Budgie Landing."
      However, we do have a budgie aviary that is part of our Australia Walkabout exhibit where budgies have multiple spaces inside and an outdoor space available to them when the temperature is warm enough. We pay close attention to the climate in the aviary and keep the temperature around 70 degrees just like their native habitat, the wild scrublands, open woodlands, and grasslands of Australia. The aviary has air conditioning running in the spring and summer with multiple places for the budgies to drink water. There are also multiple bird baths in the aviary.
      Because the summer months often result in a large volume of guests, the budgies get many opportunities to eat seed sticks and will not always be motivated to eat from seed sticks.
