Aww, all of them are only small babies based on their beaks and the head bars, what precious little things. I wonder if they mistook the car shine for the water surface or just were attracted to it because it reflects. I wish I could see wild budgies one day. Such precious birds.
I think they were attracted to their reflections. I've had wild turkeys and other birds look at their reflection in the shiny stainless steel on the bottom of my pickup more than once. One tom was fighting with himself on my pickup. Rest of the video is awesome too. Thanks for sharing!😊
We've had a lot of rain in central Australia the last couple of years- I thought that we were going to get a plague of mice like we did a few years back but no. A swarm of budgies instead. I like this outcome better.
As someone who absolutely adores budgies that would be like heaven being surrounded by so many wild budgies. I pray to god you didn't run any over driving off, there were loads on the ground at one point.
If I were there, one half of me would be overflowing with wholesomeness. And another half would be the genuine fear to drive even a centimeter in any direction, as some of those birbs might be next to wheels. So I would just be there on a standstill for half an hour minimum, admiring budgies, that are in such big numbers they fear no human
That's too cute! Those are my favorite kinds of budgies. The green ones. I have 4 at home. 2 green, 1 blue, and 1 purple. They're familiar with the house layout so they'll let me know when they want to come out to fly. Smart animals!
Lol I love it, they're too smart for their own good! They're picking bugs off the cars surface and seed from the inside cavities, but also looking for water from the Ac and window wipers as the water condensers at the spray head. They can smell the water....
the biggest budgie taxi the world has ever seen! :D man i love these birds, have 2 for my own. love to you and all the budgie in the world from germany!

as a bird owner, all these comments about how they wanna capture and keep them are VERY distasteful. don't joke about catching and keeping wild birds, that's a real issue. only buy your birds from reputable breeders.
It might psychologically scar birds. It might cause decline of wild population And it makes domestication pointless since you introduce wild birds that never seen a human before to a population of birds that raised by humans. Also it's illegal to catch wild birds in Australia since it's their only one habitat Just purchase from breeders since at least you know where are they coming from and not poached.
"Time to go"?? Sorry but if you haven't noticed. This is a moment. Truly a moment to just check out of day to day life and soak in the beauty in this. Wow. Absolutely unreal. Wherever this is, heaven must be nearby.

@@Oldsaway I have a theory that they like cars because it's just a chance to stop in their daily journey, like if it's a tree. That or they see themselves reflected on the glass.
They probably see the glass and and looks like water to them ,these birds are Nomatic meaning that they dont stay in one place they are constantly movong about searching out food and water sources.
I remember my brother rubbing something my hair and then kicking me out of the car. The bastard got seed and crunchy peanut butter made a paste with the seed and then slapped it on me head. I had my entire face attacked by Budgies and one real giant prick of a crowe. Its like the prick was mining my thoughts.
Los periquitos están esperando comida. Lo que para muchos es un "encuentro sorprendente natural con una bandada de periquitos salvajes" para los periquitos debe ser una sorprendente situación de ansiedad.

Seeing the behaviour of those on the shiny surface I'd say they thought it's water, and since they're still small they don't know what cars are

look at their cute little faces
They probably think the reflection from the car is water which caused them to swarm you. Very cool to see how close they got!

I keep wondering how come budgies love cars so much. There's like... three more videos in which budgies visit cars in the australian desert.
I haven't found any explanation of this behaviour - not sure anyone knows for certain.
@@Oldsaway I have a theory that they like cars because it's just a chance to stop in their daily journey, like if it's a tree.
That or they see themselves reflected on the glass.
Maybe they are thirsty and the reflections in the glass windows of the car look like water?
@@jase123111 maybe, but they visit cars even in places where there is water
