- Hello Buddies
Recently there has been a surge in people filming the release of their budgies to the wilderness.
They are killing their birds unwillingly.
THIS NEEDS TO STOP.
A captive bird will never survive in the wild.
Help share this video to spread the knowledge about this awful trend.

I was actually going to release my pet budgies because I felt like that was the right decision, but after watching this Ik I can’t let them go or else they’ll die. I’m really glade this video popped up cuz if I didn’t know about this, I would just let my birds go without knowing they would die within the day because of me
That's the right decision, thank you for that, keep your budgie safe and healthy 🙏
Yes. Thank you for not releasing your budgie. Budgies can survive as part of a large flock. There chances are slim to none on their own.
@@Bird-Nuggets
no, thank YOU for making this video!
thanks to your video many people that was about to reals their birds had a second thought and saved their bird lives
Than take that Video down. You are clickbaiting dumb Kids that will release their pets and let them die in the wild
@@Mangela_Erkelyou think this is clickbait while you're wrong this is actual proof that you're actually killing your birds by setting them free that's so messed up like think about it they're like like a birds that eat other birds you know like vultures and eagles you're such an idiot
Man I can’t believe that nowadays there’s still a lot of dumb idiots that can never learn like they should literally not have access to buy a pet, can’t believe that there’s this type of stupidity going around with pet budgies
@@IHateLiterallyEverything True. A lot of dumb people people says that "animal live longer in the wild", ignoring the fact that it takes more than just pure instincts for an animal to survive and that pets have no idea what their natural habitat looks like.
These monsters should never have pets and that was so sad when they made her leave her babies
Honestly I woudn't mind if they would ban buying pet birds. Its enough. We have seen enough.
Some dumb idiots release goldfish into the sea
Sadly, I can. People dump their dogs and cats, and even horses, too. They release pet fish and reptiles into environments that animal isn't native to. In some cases it works out okay for the animals, but then they become an invasive species that needs to be culled (like the pythons in Florida's Everglades). For the most part, people who release pets don't know or don't care that they're sending their animal to a terrible death - they don't have to see it, so....
...... I really don't like people like that. If you can't care for an animal, get it a new home. There is a lot of help out there if you need it, and are willing to look for it (and it's usually not hard to find).
If your budgie escapes that's a different story but this is unethical
It should be illegal to do this tbh
One of my budgies escaped many months ago :(
He was actually nice and liked to be pet and held unlike the others.
@@SSADO- My budgie also escaped, we were lucky since I can hear my own bird from a up to 100m range, even tho it only made a noise any 30 Minutes, I found her again and lost her again and again. After 8 hours and 2°C outside at night, she wanted to switch trees and felt to ground. Could pick her up and take her back home. She was eating for 30 Minutes straight afterwards.
It was also kinda lucky that she was super aggressive and didn't got catched by the crows. My little budgie actually went to pursuit the crows and pigeons and all the hunters where scared of her.
She only lived 2 more months before dying at the age of 9. She was flying about 3-4km that day.
Atleast she got to see the outside before her death.
I'm aways afraid mine will escape. I know they wouldn't last long.
Budgies never try to escape. I have many times forgotten to close the cage door after cleaning but not once they have tried to escape.
The ignorance of people is infuriating. Any normal thinking human should understand why this is a death sentence for the birds.
My 11 year old brother, who doesn't know much about parrots or how ecosystems work was able to immediately and easily pick out what's wrong with that trend.
I think the people who do that are genuinely mentally challenged, If they're being mentally outclassed by an 11 year old.
I think most normal thinking humans don't know this. And with quarantine it got worse because they felt trapped and thought it was the right thing to do.
@@nairazak_art anyone with a working brain would know you’re not supposed to release pet birds
@@Dnznxbebwushdn or just dumbasses who either do it for clout or give themeselves a sense of the "I'm such a good Samaritan!" feeling. Even my "mentally challenged" cousin knows releasing a pet isn't a good idea.
I found a Budgie near the trash in my building. I ended up keeping him because he is so small I couldn’t image him surviving on his own. I wasn’t sure at first but I think keeping him was the right thing. I never had a Budgie before and he has taught me a lot.
What a wholesome story. Good on you :)
How’s the budgie?
I lost my budgie last month and never saddened before like thus. I hope he is with some good Hands like you.. thank you for your kindness.
@@kosmotheprotogen what the budgie you spoke about above died
What has he taught you?
They're called pets for a reason. They're not like birds that can fly for hours and hours and search for food. I honestly don't know why this is a trend but it need to stop.
Exactly
Because they're "saving animals"
Caging a bird that was born in cage is okay because that is how it is! But caging a wild budgie or any wild bird is very bad because your destroying the animals of the nature!
I don’t know why this is a trend but in Australia these birds are wild they’re not pets in Australia they’re wild and they’re more tamer if that makes sense I know there’s no tamer in Australia to teach them in the wild but they’re young they are free to do what they want in Australia
This is so true because they don’t know how to look after themselves!!!!!!
Releasing budgies in the wild? That is the same level of stupidity as leting a baby 'free' by leaving it on the street!
How stupid are people
Yeah its like abondining them
i agree
I mean,it went out to the wild tho
Wrong in a warm Asian country they will be just fine
Fun fact!: Blue budgies that are born in the wild are usually rejected by the flock as they stand out to much!
Also this breaks my heart that so many peeps release their PET budgies into the wild were they don’t even know how to find their own food 😞
its not really a fun fact

A year ago, a family of wild tiny birds adopted a budgie. Winter was coming up, so my neighbor captured the budgie and has kept the budgie warm, safe and took good care of it to this day. edit: the budgie was taken to the vet and it turned out the budgie was domesticated and managed to survive in the wild.
I have a large bird feeder in my yard. One day a budgie landed. He was with a group of House finches. He flew away before I could try to get him, but came back the next day with the finches again.
Sadly I couldn’t get him and never saw him after that, but those finches def were with him.
Our pet lovebird escaped from his cage but after few days, he came back. He had no choice, it's obvious that he's hungry so he went inside his cage for food and water.
Glad to hear that, I got a lovebird too. A friend of mine has a lot of parrots, one escaped and came back after eight months. It was incredible.

I got my budgie back tho, so yay!
I stopped being friends from that day forward
Good choice for unfriending them, how's your budgie doing?
How could a friend so that. I would unfriend them too.
Omg I’m so happy you got the bird back
@Sergej Brašanac sometimes people can do stuff like that out of nowhere its not their fault that their friend released their bird.
@Sergej Brašanac this man thinks there are pure friends in this world who would stay loyal to u lol🤣. U dont know anything about the real world dude grow up
A few weeks ago I was eating dinner when some movement catched my eye just outside my living room. There, stood on a tree, was a big bird (I still don't know if it was an eagle or something else) with a fluttering budgie in his mouth trying to break free from him. In a state of horror I dashed out to my balcony and threw a clothes peg at them to make the eagle let him go (it didn't hit them since they were a little bit further away from my house don't worry). The budgie broke free from him so he flew off right away. The eagle like bird was holding him in his beak by his wing so I very hopelessly hope that he didn't get injured badly and is alright. It was such a horrifying and devastating moment for me and I can't imagine what the budgie went through. To this day, I still can't get his helpless screams out of my head. I wish I could help him more than what I did but I couldn't. I have a budgie friend at my home and the thought of something similar happening to him is crushing me. Please please please be careful and never ever release your budgies thinking it is "good" for them. There are many dangers awaiting them in the wild and they are clearly not capable of dealing with them. The deadliest ones are starvation, predators such as cats and bigger bird species, injuries, diseases. Some may say what I did was intervening with "Nature's bussiness" but no it isn't. To begin with, they are domestic animals which are not supposed to live in that area. They don't know how to fend for themselves out in the wild. We took that capability from them long ago, breeding them in cages, and we can't expect them to survive by themselves now. So please DON'T RELEASE YOUR PETS INTO THE WILD. Take extreme measures such as installing fly screen on your windows and doors to prevent them from going out of your house by themselves. Love them and care for them properly. And if you think you can't, then don't even think about getting a pet in the first place! Lastly, don't buy, adopt!
Where do you live?
These fools should know that there is a difference between being domesticated and being WILD. Domesticated budgies mean that they will never ever be able to survive in the wild, while wild budgies mean that forests and the outdoors is their literal home. you can't just free domesticated budgies in thoughts that you're helping them and that they can be free now, without knowing the actual thing first. Thank you for letting people know what the right thing even IS :)
So true. You could probably train some domesticated animals to survive for a short while in the wild (say 48 hours to a week) but that is about it. I think these dumb asses should watch Naked and Afraid and tell them what they are doing to their bird is the equivalent of forcing those humans on the show to stay permanently in the wild.
A budgie landed on my shoulder. The owner released it.So now its in my aviary living happily
That budgie got lucky it found you.
Yes it did get lucky it found you
So glad you rescued them!🖤🖤🖤🖤
You are that budgies hero
Oh it found a great soul 😄
How come people somehow THINK that a domesticated bird without ANY experience in the wild in a city would ever survive for long periods of time….
I'm so glad you brought this to light because it's very important that everybody realizes that these domesticated birds cannot live on their own! You, who made this video did a great favor to budgies everywhere! Thank you for being so aware! ❤️
It’s not like these birds even enjoy their short lived freedom. Birds that have lived all their life inside in a cage will likely find the outside world terrifying. Due to the limited space they have had to move around in all their life, they also have no where near the kind of stamina that wild birds have. They’ll be scared, tired and hungry before they die.
Omg that should stop being a trend bc pet budgies do NOT KNOW HOW TO LIVE IN WILD!!!!! They will die soon!
Yeah!! They don’t know how to feed them selves either, they can’t live like that

Exactly. A neighbor of a friend of mine decided she didn't like her dog anymore, and just released the dog into the neighborhood. I just couldn't speak to her again after that. How could she be so cruel and irresponsible? Forcing a domesticated animal to fend for itself is sadistic.

2 days later, my grandpa got a call from our neighbors of a blue budgie on their RV. When we got the budgie, it turns out it was Phoenix!!

It is not being done by asians only but I've also seen normal people from america and the uk doing it

Yes it is common sense, anyone who released their pets has an IQ less than 90 or even less than the temperature of a room. Who in their right minds would think releasing a domesticated animal to the wild would be good for the animal? You feed them, protect them and care for them all their lives, but somehow they are supposed to learn a lifetime of survival skills in a few minutes? Not counting the fact that this isn't their natural habitat either

It makes NO SENSE! You don’t release pet dogs to “live freely” they are DOMESTICATED animals! They are going to die!😭
Dog was not a good example as they are very well known to be great at surviving alone.
@Dex Tiger clearly your not very bright, even little dogs like that have and can survive
@Dex Tiger A. Being fed by people is still surviving
B. Life sucks
C. It’s rough
D.Get used to it buttercup
@Dex Tiger just like any animal, some will have more trouble surviving than others, but it doesn't mean it can't 🤷🏽♂️ Navajo mountain dogs have been feral and surviving for quite a while. You don't think a terrier can survive? Or German shepherds? Rottweilers? Literally any hunting dog breed? Obviously they shouldn't but if anything I think we shouldn't have brought birds into cages far from their homeland in the first place 🤷🏽♂️ that's pretty damn cruel to me
@Dex Tiger I agree with you. Another thing is the risk of small breeds getting impregnated by larger breeds left astray on the street. Imagine a chihuahua impregnated by a labrador.

I live in Australia, and even here we do not release pet budgies in to the wild. They will get eaten by cats and lack the skills to find their way to the centre of Australia, which is where you find their big flocks in the desert.
Last year, we found a pet budgie in our garden. She was so hungry and thirsty and exhausted, we didnt know if she would survive. With the help of the neighbourhood we managed and she survived. We got her everything she needed including birdfriends. But she only had a few months due to a heart disease. The doctor couldnt say for sure, but the disease might have been caused or at least worsened by what she had to go through. Even if the birds get rescued. They are scarred for life. Its incredibly sad.
Why would people do this? Not only is it morally terrible but you really are just killing them. Domestic budgies need a warm home with constant food, water and attention. Luckily, these friends of mine took him in and nursed him back to health, and he ended up leaving an extremely long, happy life.
My Budgie, Sheriff escaped last Easter 2021. She flew over to the next block and down the street....she was gone for about 7 hours. I didn't call anyone or know what to do. But ...a guy that works with Raptors lives a block over. He had seen me looking and found my budgie was at a neighbors home, thinking maybe it was mine. They brought her home. I love Sheriff more than anything,,, and so glad she is home. I've had her for 2 years and a bit....thank you for the video/ SOME survive here but not many, and not for long.
that budgie was trying so hard not to leave her young and yet he dumps her out of the nesting box
Everyone doing this trend think they are helping but there just giving them a shorter life
How-......
Budgies don’t know how to feed them selves or live in the wild alone! Were these already wilds?
yes they were but since they are raised in captivity they cannot survive in the wild due to lack of knowledge
@@fisht6765 thanks. And yes, you’re right. Who would do that!
They live in groups. A singular budgie won’t make it.
This subject is very important. Thank you for your valuable contribution!
People: mad
Me: laughing at the intro
The things that ppl do just because its a trend is utterly shocking & appalling. Apparently its more important to be ‘cool’ than caring (and responsible). What’s next? Parents booting-out their 6 yr olds to live free & fend for themselves? Its not so different ‘freeing’ a pet bird. This is truly a very sad state of affairs. TYVM for this video. If it saves the life of one budgie, it’s value is priceless.
Oh no! 😭 It's an act of thoughtlessness!!! Poor birds!
I feel HORRIBLE!
Its just been a couple hours since I lost my escaped budgie Mango. My Snowball won't stop chirping. Then finally she gave up and I didn’t hear a single chirp anymore.😢😢
As a budgie owner myself, this literally makes me want to stay in my bed and cry all day. seeing those innocent little budgies in tiny cages being grabbed and just chucked into the air. It just makes me want to cry
Oh well
I am not sure that that half of these people are releasing their budgies out of the "goodness" of their hearts. It looked to me like some of them at least just wanted to get rid of their pets in the easiest way possible. It is horrible to see and horrible to know that there are monsters out there that do this consciously. Thank you for bringing this issue up I will share the video with everyone I know to spread the awareness.
I always tried to explain that cages are, for pet birds, like houses.
They still should fly around our house, just like a human walks outside.
No.
The problem is,that some budgie owners don’t do much research before adopting a budgie. So they can believe that budgies are meant to be free, but it’s the complete opposite
I agree what u said #Salvador #Budgie they really should not release budgies 2 the wild, and it 💯% really needs 2 stop releasing budgies 2 the wild. Cause if they can take care of budgies and don't want them anymore, then it's better 4 them 2 give the budgies 2 there families or friends if they wants birds in there lives. Quit releasing budgies 2 the wild, keep them or give them away 2 friends or families because wild does not take care of budgies.
I remember getting shit for keeping my old birds in cages( although I let them fly around in my apartment every day). Like I can’t just let exotic animals out in freaking Austria. They’d die instantly
i thought about this because my budgies didn’t seem to like me i didn’t want them to not like how they’re living and be stressed every time i come by the cage, i’ve had them for a year but i’ll take care of them for as long as they need i’ll never let them go free
This just breaks my heart by you saying budgies won’t last a day in the wild, I had this budgie her name was capri, I bonded with her so well and would spend SO much time with her, would play with her, give her treats, clean her cage a bit, and talk to her, but yesterday, a helper we have at our house was putting her seed mix inside her little bowls that were inside her cage, and he forgot to close the cage’s door after giving her food (this happened outside btw) and eventually she flew away in the sky, I am absolutely heartbroken. I love her so much and I’m so worried about her, the second I heard the news of her flying away I broke down crying. I can’t control it. It absolutely saddens me the mere thought of a wild animal eating her. She is so, so dear to me and always will be. Her flying away has caused me an immense amount of pain that I literally can’t even express. I feel like crying.
Thanks for the info ... apriciated ..
In 1974 in Heizel, Belgium, they released a whole bunch of indian ringnecks. They now spread throughout the whole country. I often see hem fly at work.
Even in the UK there is a population near Hampton Court
I will never realise my budgies.
i remember when my pet cockatiel escaped when i was cleaning its cage, i was suffering from depression at the time, and my cockatiel was what made me feel at ease, but fortunately my cockatiel after about 2 days came back to my house and i managed to catch it as it was also being attacked by crows, but it didnt get hurt luckily. but now i gave him away to a family member as i couldnt keep him anymore as i had to focus on studies. i miss my cockatiel :(
I wonder what will the macaws do to the crows
@@NUBOY_SHORTS probably not much, crows are known to gang up against hawks and things like that
This made me cry 😭😭😭😭 i need to hug my budgie
That's why they are 'captive' bred and are mostly not captured from the wild. Their colours are mutations caused by captive breeding. Releasing them in the wild means death since they have literally no instincts of a wild budgerigar. Instead, bring one home, Take care of it and tame it so that your birdie will get the freedom to fly in your backyard and you will feel great to have the trust of your small furball.
This is just so wrong 😭 I live in Australia and they are so beautiful in the wild 😍 but letting domesticated budgies go needs to stop 😭
My sister in law found a budgie in her yard. It must have heard the call of her pet budgies. Anyways she took it in and it’s been a great pet. Crazy to think someone would just release one like that
I am abit worried because I am getting new budgies but my old ones have to go.I don't know if they can survive in the pet store in winter.plz help
