Just thought I would add this for when you move on to the Thunder Saga and rank that: Just a Man: "Deep down I would trade the world to see my son and wife!" Scylla: *"Deep Down" is repeated over and over and over.*
@MarzBarz71222 Polites, and you hear it very clear in Full speed ahead at "Maybe there are people (right here) Lighting a fire" in the original version. But if you listen closely you can tell his voice is far more smooth in the new version compared to it was kinda sharp in the original
I don't see anyone commenting about it, but in the new version of Just A Man you can actually hear the instrumental of Mutiny in the background just as the soldiers start singing! It starts in "when does a comet become a meteor?" but it gets louder in "when does a ripple become a tidal wave?" (This is also confirmed by Jorge!)
When I saw this i audibly gasped in excitement and dropped my phone. Can’t wait! It’d be funny if Casper put “Survive” in a low tier because of Polites turning into a pancake.
Damn the new horse and the infant thing with all the gods singing with Zeus. (especially the part with the 'the blood on your hands is something you won't lose. all you can do it choose') Really makes me think of that thing 'The gods are playing chess but there is only 1 pawn and they take turns moving it about.' That is Odysseus.
I kind of like the "scary cave" line being more audible. It makes the forshadowing more clear for one, but it also makes Polites' response, ("A cave!"), more interesting because it highlights him as almost willfully naive, trying to be the ultimate optimist by ignoring or maybe filtering out the warning. I kind of see it as Polites talking to the lotus eaters away from Odysseus like in mircsy's animatic, which could mean Odysseus didn't hear the warning. He would go on what Polites tells him, which is just "a cave"
The crew probably did fish a lot, but after the troyan war, Poseidon was a little salty with all greeks, and after polyphemus, even if they wanted to, they probably could never find fish, because the god of the sea would never let them
Pretty sure Poseidon was on Greek's side due to the Trojan's not paying back for him building their walls (just heard this, don't know if it's true). Though he is salty against Odysseus and the greeks due to them not praying/sacrificing to him when traveling on the sea and for using his horse symbol but he let it slide due to him hating the Trojan's more. Though that all went out the window when Ody blinded Polyphemus so yes, they could never catch any fish due to Poseidon now being angry at them and willing to starve them for pay back, he's petty like that.
@AUCreatoer Yeah, when I found out the wooden horse was for ATHENA and Ody was the one who gave that ideia, I was like, no wonder Poseidon tries to kill that dumbass on the way back home And that was years ago before epic, so I didn't know about the cyclops
28:34 "Is that a fin coming out of his neck??" THIS MAN SEES POSEIDON LITERALLY EVERYWHERE NOW I STG (Thank you so much for leaving these things in Mason) I miss the slightly lingering birds too Mortius, the little quirk made it sound like Ody was being less serious and more relaxed now that they're on their way home :')
I love Mason being able to fully join in the banter between the two of you in this. I am so glad that you have had the privilege and opportunity to react to these visuals for the new versions
One thing I noticed in the remakes is that the old studio seemed to use a little more autotune for certain songs/sections/vocalists, specifically Steven and Teagan. I always noticed the slightest bit of influence in their lines that is thankfully gone in the remakes, it used to take me out of it every time i noticed it and now i just headbang along with everything!
@@Azziyaisalwaysonline yes, that's another line that I always noticed! Athena was particularly egregious in My Goodbye, and it's so nice to hear it clean.
I'm glad you guys acknowledged Young Odysseus' laugh being better this go around. It wasn't precisely bad before, just really awkward, and not in a "he's just an awkward kid" way, but a "that doesn't sound like how any human would laugh in this scenario, musical or not" way.
Luke Holt watches every video when it drops, and Steven Dookie wanted to be kept up to date on the progress of this channel, so it's probably safe to say they've either watched this, or are going to soon. I've never said anything that makes me this proud of someone. Congratulations on all of the success you both have had from Epic.
@@ezracohen6020 Yep. Luke commented on one of Mortius's Tik Toks "Dude! Your reviews with Casper are some of my favorite videos! I look forward to watching them when they drop! #wethades😂😂😂" and Steven commented on that same video "Please keep me posted on the new page!!! I’m interested as hell!!" to which Armando replied "LET’S GOOOOOO"
12:44 Ohh, I never realised that the "Penelope" in 'Horse abd the Infant' is sung by Odysseus and Penelope! Also I'm pretty sure I can hear Athena in the chior backing Zeus, which makes total sense since it literally says "the Gods", but I never clocked that! Now I have to listen for Hermes and Poseidon in there...
My headcannon (knowing it’s not cannon but it’s cannon in my heart) is that the “scary cave” winion is the one ody takes into the cave in mercsy’s animatic (rip to the spelling)
11:11 Personally, I like the choir being louder because in my head, I imagine it as the choir symbolise accually the voices of the future and being part of the profesy
I heard it a little differently personally. To me it seemed more like it was the combined voices of all of the gods that are going to show up in the story said, "I don't think you're ready."
The thing I appreciate the most about your shared reaction channel is the actual teasing bordering on spiteful without context banter you two have. That’s real friendship right there 😂
I’m interested where you guys put ‘Polyphemus’ because it’s actually in my like top 3 because the melody of the parts like ‘have a drink, one sip and you’ll understand…” even Polyphemus’s part of it absolutely gives me such a dopamine rush similar to the feeling I get at the very beginning of ‘suffering’
When it came out it was my favorite, now I would say its 3rd or 4th (Ruthlessness taking 1st, underworld taking 2nd, and I’m still deciding between Scylla and Polyphemus for 3rd and 4th and then just a man takes 5th)
12:46 I think the bit you're saying you like a little less with the choir is adding Penelope's voice to some words as like, Zeus using her to manipulate Odysseus?
Everything about this video is so darn good - the commentary, the reactions, the banter, the information, Wet Hades, Mortius's villainous laughter, the motif mistake - EVERYTHING!!!!! But as someone who dabbles in video editing, Mason's hilarious editing really made it special this time around. Especially the remade version has some awesome divine chorus, befitting of our beloved Divine Sugar Momma! And Teagan is an absolutely Goddess on Earth!
OMG OARIONS ARE SO WELL FED! 🧅 So excited to see you both react to the new version of THATI (YOU CAN HEAR TEAGAN'S VOICE IN THE GODS' CHORUS), WOTM harmonies and Teagan's vocal again! And of course, Steven Dookie's Polites. ❤🩹 (Those are the differences that I especially love from the new versions. The divine chorus for our beloved Divine Sugar Momma is very fitting and has yeeted me into the heavens.) So curious about both your song rankings!
Mortius cackling while Casper looks like he's reliving trauma with his eye twitching.... love your dynamic together! Mason, you're awesome for being able to put up with these two, hahaha!
Fun fact: In the remastered Full Speed Ahead, you can distinctly hear Steven’s (Polites) voice in most of the chorus lines after he’s introduced! I like that detail, we were missing the boi in the original :) RIP Polites and the singular Odyssey braincell, you will be missed
You two are my favorite epic reactors hands down. This video was amazing and im loving all ur takes tbh. And omfg Mason makes the videos so much better lol. Love u all
Personally, to answer the proposed question for the engagement of the video, my favorite of the Troy Saga has to be Open Arms, and the more upbeat / almost tropical vibes that it has are such an atmosphere (I love beaches a lot). :D Also, I totally think it makes sense what was said about the story parts bringing down the song, but I actually like the "downtime" part of it myself, because that tone change made the transition back to the more bubbly parts more profound for me, but that's just a personal take! For me, if it didn't have those moments, I think that the return to the lighter and happier tune wouldn't feel as joyful as it is, because now Polites is "making his point" about his philosophy. While the Winions / Lotus Eaters themselves sound a bit dorky and not as "elegant" song-wise, that doesn't really bother me personally. (Also their little "ooo" part is so pretty actually.) If anything, it makes an interesting contrast between the higher, soft, crystal-clear voice and their lower, almost distorted-sounding ones. So it's just very interesting to me, which is why I love it. And naturally Polites is my favorite of the characters. I just love him so much haha. He's such a beautiful ray of sunshine.
I love you guys so much as a duo, I'm so glad you both made a channel together! Also can we talk about how AMAZING Mason's editing was in this? Excited for cyclops saga 😁
It's refreshing to hear Mortius say he's a Eurylochus defender, because I support Eurylochus so much that I straight-up changed my Tik Tok bio to "I will defend Eurylochus beyond my dying breath."
Something i noticed that i really enjoyed was that Athena's voice is very straight-laced, direct toned. Little to no waver which really goes into the whole "Athena doesn't do emotions things"
I agree on Warrior of the Mind being the best of the Troy Saga! It was the first thing I heard from Epic and the song that made me fall in love with these characters and seek out this musical.
Something my mom and I were talking about is that even though a lot of the lines haven’t been changed very much musically, the delivery of the lines are slightly different which makes it have so much more emotional depth! Super cool 🎉
The Horse and the Infant is probably my favorite song in Troy Saga. Because from a bit of an artist perspective, when I listen to this musical I'm always thinking in the back of my head how this is all going to work on a stage. I actually have a lot of fan staging in my head of how I would do everything and so the song where I have more clearer imagery in my head tend to be the ones I like more. and the Horse and the Infant has that for me. But also theres just a lot of things I really like overall, "please don't make me do this. don't make me do this" is my favorite line in the whole musical, the delivery always gets me, the desperation in it just hits me like a freight train. and I really like when Odysseus is telling the soldiers their roles. Its a part of the song that itches my brain really well.
"Yes obviously" they say about Just a Man being S tier... Meanwhile, my list: *S* - Warrior of the Mind *A* - The Horse and the Infant *B* - Open Arms *C* - Just a Man | Full Speed Ahead *D* - *F* - Reasoning: Athena revealing her callousness, the lone viola playing the danger motif as soon as young Odysseus has caught her eye, everything highlighting that their dynamic is very unequal but they have still made it work before - Warrior of the Mind is just SO GOOD. The Horse and the Infant is the DEFINING song that sets the stage for everything from Odysseus' skill in leading men (other kings and princes even) to the demands gods place on mortals, all while incorporating and incredible range of ambient sounds directly into the music. Open Arms is dang good, but it IS also very much the kind of song you get a few of on the radio almost every summer and just keep as background music at the pool, HOWEVER the tone shift with the lotus eaters and the ensuing bakc and forth elevates it. Just a Man is definitely mechanically incredible and it works perfectly for what it is, but what it is is a ballad for establishing a character, not something I'd skip in a playlist but also not something I'd listen to on its own on loop - especially as the new soldier choir no longer sounds like the entire Greek army of hundreds if not thousands of men is watching Odysseus holding the infant on the wall, losing the culmination some of its original intensity. Full Speed Ahead is another establishing song, and while it's catchy and arguably very singable, the overlapping call and response style makes it impossible to actually sing alone - it's still a really good, solid song, just not better than the others.
I never knew "I still intend to make sure you don't fall behind" was directed to adult Odysseus. I thought it was to Kidysseus, meaning even after they harmonically bonded, she intends to treat him like a pupil instead of a friend.
I didn’t notice much new differences in the remade versions (I didn’t doubt they were there I am just much more story inclined and can’t catch many musical details on a first listen which is why I watch these lol) but one of the few things is the added harmonies of the gods on some of Zeus’s parts. Specifically on “this is the will of the gods” I think because of how story driven I am lol. I love it so much because while it might not be the best musically as mortius pointed out it is SO good for storytelling. Because it adds just so much more threatening vibes to it. Not only is this the king of the gods but it’s all the Olympians backing him up. Like how could you say no to that?
Casper has given me such a greater appreciation for this musical with his incredible knowledge of music production and singing I love it so much Mortius just continues to personify me in aspect when reacting to these songs though Absolutely the best duo
You're talking about all these changes... Everything literally sounds the exact same to me, so I got no idea what the fuck you're on about.😂 At best, I hear new sound effects, but the instruments and vocals, I literally can't tell the difference.
For me its definitely 1 Warrior of the mind, 2 horse and the infant, 3 full speed ahead and 4 just a man and open arms are equal, hope Casper doesnt forget that the entire reason they visit the cyclops is because of polites who also was convincing Odysseus to lower his guard even though they are on an unknown island Edit: The reason this war happened the way it did is because when suitors came for Helens hand Tyndarius her father didn't know how to avoid the bloodshed from picking any of them, Odysseus who decided to forgo Helens hand for the pretty and smart niece of Tyndarius Penelope, he told the Spartan king that if he can gain Penelopes hand he would tell him a solution, it being the oath of Tyndarius, where the suitors would give their word that they would protect the right of the one Helen chooses. Now fast forward later Paris gains an apple(the apple of discord from Eris) and 3 goddesses ask him to gift the apple to one of them, Hera promises him the throne of Troy, Athena battle knowledge and tactics and Aphrodity the love of the prettiest woman of the land, Paris chooses Aphrodity and becomes her champion goes out and comes back with Helen. He also tried to act Mad, like he lost his mind in order not to go to the war since he didn't swear any oaths but one of the seers that the Greeks possessed said to succeed in this war they needed Odysseus and Achilles so they weren't letting him not participate The men mentioned in Horse and the Infant are in order -Diomedes he was managed to wound Aphrodities wrist in the war and recovered the Palladium(Mark of Athena for pjo references) that provided troy protection when he came home he discovered his wife was unfaithful(a punishment from Aphrodity) and that his claim to the throne was disputed and he left to settle somewhere else. -Agamemnon was Meneleuses older brother he married Helens sister Clytemnestra, he offended Artemis somehow before they sailed for troy and to appease her he sacrificed his daughter Iphigeneia(don't know why that worked a virgin maiden sacrificed and killed in the name of the protector of maidens) and he caused some problems in camp like taking Achilles war prize Briseis when his (Kassandra) was returned to her father, something that made Achilles refused to fight a time, he also angered Apollo which caused a plague on their camps, he was later killed by his wife when he returned home. -Meneleus was a mostly ok guy, he was married to Helen, he delayed his journey because one of his crew members was killed so he waited until he was properly buried and he in some myths did gain Helen back. -Teucer was Ajax the greaters younger half brother, one of the few that did not commit some sacrilege, he was a great with a bow, he after his brother basically commits seppuku manages to insure a properl burial even if some of the other generals said he didn't deserve one, one of his supporters being Odysseus(Odysseus kinda caused Ajaxs death because Ajax either lost in duel or Athena made him hallucinate to lose a duel) when he returned home his dad didn't let him in because he didn't bring his brothers son back, even if the son came back later. -Ajaxs the Lesser was a real piece of work, he was boastful and arrogant, he violated Kassandra infront of Athenas statue and was nearly stoned to death by his allies the Greeks, when they were leaving Troy Athena and Poseidon collaborated in killing him, Athena by wrecking his ship and Poseidon by casting him to the sea and drowning him when he managed to swim to a rock and boast his superiority to the gods -Nestor was the son of Neleus(king of pylos) and Chloris(nymph goddess of flowers) his brothers were all slain by Herakles, he was about 70 in the Iliad and he tells Telemachus what he and the rest of them suffered in the war. -Neo(Neoptolemus) was the son Achilles, which he sired while being hidden in Scyros as a woman by his mother Thetis, because he angered Apollo and was prophecies to die in the Trojan war, Neo was brought to the war by Odysseus because a Trojan seer that they gained Helenus the twin brother of Kassandra(after he left because is some tellings Helen did chose him to marry after Paris died, or that he was captured by Odysseus or he left because of the treacherous murder of Achiles) prophesied that they could only take troy if they had a descendants of Aeacus who helped build the walls, Neo committed the sacrilege of killing the aged king Priam at an alter, he married Hermione the daughter of Helen but took Hektors wife Andromache as a concubine and Helenus with him to Epirus, he later died in Delphi when he demanded Apollo atone for his father's death, Helenus and Andromache married after his death and ruled Epirus.
21:21 the only thing I personally have to criticize (like, mild mild criticism) about the remastered soldiers, is that they sometimes sound like less people then in the first version because you can hear the individual voices now, which lessens the effect of there being fewer and fewer voices in the chior as the story progresses a little bit for me. But I'll take it for those beautiful new harmonies!
Great thoughts on the saga! Love Troy so much, it's truly great from start to finish. Pretty sure nobody agrees with me on order, heh, but that's what's so fun with a musical so consistently outstanding! I gotta go with: -The Horse and the Infant -Full Speed Ahead -Warrior of the Mind -Just a Man -Open Arms
Ooooh! I understand now... I mentioned in the Premier chat that the trailer's "Early access to the Cyclops and Ocean sagas" confused me a bit; I didn't realize you guys were doing multiple episodes of this for all the sagas, so I thought it was a typo/mistake. Now it makes _much_ more sense. Very excited to revisit the whole musical thus far!
30:20 They didn’t fish cause they aren’t fishers they were living from Ravaging Villages and stuff (which is why Eurylichus suggested to raid the Island with the Lotus Eaters) or just from supplies. Tho it’s still isn’t the Smartest decision for the Warrior of the Mind not to take even 1 Person who could fish (like if he would have taken 1 person who could fish she wouldn’t have met Polyphemus)
Fishing wouldn’t have been sustainable regardless, as they had to feed 600 men. Also, Ancient Greek warships wouldn’t have had to storage to store 600 men’s worth of fish.
I noticed that Zeus's melody(? Idk music terms lol) in Horse and the Infant comes up in Survive and Mutiny; those three songs also happen to be followed by songs where Odysseus is forced to make a difficult decision between himself and others. Horse and the Infant is followed by Just A Man where Ody chooses to yeet the baby, Survive is followed by Remember Them where he spares Polyphemus, and Mutiny is followed by Thunder Bringer where he chooses to spare himself over his crew.
Mason's edits honestly contribute just as much enjoyment for me as your reactions. I love the wit. "That'll be $10" "These take 8 minutes each." 13:21 "No he didn't" 😆 The brief flash of "No" 😂 "What is wrong with him" 40:26 🤣
Something a LOT of people miss in the new Just A Man, listen very very very closely to the background when the "when does a man become a monster" part starts (spoilers for it below) You can hear the mutiny motif, the violins. The fact that it's here is crazy, it makes me think of Ody trying to reason with the crew by saying I'm just a man
Y'know, I agree with that smiling thing, because there are some song where i have to keep a smile on my face, and some songs where I have to keep a neutral expression, or they just don't sound right.
While I would put my tier list differently I also 1000% respect and understand their reasonings. It actually made me reconsider songs like Full Speed Ahead
I think that in the new version, they had the actual voices of the soldiers (Luke Holt as Elpenor, Armando Julian as Eurylochus, etc.) be the soldiers voices. I could be very wrong, though.
33:15 "I can't quite justify Banger with howmany songs we have ahead" For me, Full Speed Ahead is going straight into Best of the Best, It recently became my favourite song from the Troy saga.
I love that you are doing this Tier List thing. My ranking so far is: S: Warrior of the Mind, Just a Man A: Open Arms B: The Horse and the Infant C: Full Speed Ahead If we only talk about the song, Just a Man probably would be over Warrior of the Mind for me, but I just love it so much more, to sing along to Warrior of the Mind, that it is my Top Song of the Troy Saga.
I don't know much about the technical aspects but the new versions are so much clearer. I don't know if its mixing or just recording quality but there's quite a few spots that I couldn't quite make out the words in the original that are much easier to understand. Zeus/Ody's bit at the end of The Horse and the Infant is just one example.
I’m soooo glad Jorge was able to re-record all this. It’s just even more insanely brilliant. Sucks that he was screwed over for it but it really elevated these first few sagas. In song one, not sure if you noticed the connection (because you commented how Luke’s voice rolled) but the way he rolls his lyrics, his voice rolls like thunder. Incredible.
I love watching you guys react to epic and hearing you guys puzzle out where are you gonna put things. But at the same time I love hearing this hilarious custody battle over Mason happening at the same time.😂
Mason is so funny! I just wanted to share because you both mention it sometimes about having long videos. I absolutely enjoyed the long form of this video. You and Casper bounce off eachother so well, you stopped to appreciate all the good moments of the new songs and I really enjoyed this video. Also I was definitely yelling at my screen for some of these tier list choices :D
I really need to watch these on RUclips as well as Patreon. Mason’s edits and comments are *amazing.* (I always run the videos in the background when they go on RUclips for the hits/algorithm support, but I don’t usually pay much attention-now I want to fast forward through them all looking for the Mason commentary)
The Horse and The Infant will always have a special place in my heart because while it's maybe not my favourite song from the whole show it immediately made me cry. On the first listen (specifically the "I could raise him as my own"). That's some raw skill from Jorge there

It starts in "when does a comet become a meteor?" but it gets louder in "when does a ripple become a tidal wave?" (This is also confirmed by Jorge!)

I love how much more confident Steven sounds in open arms. Completely re-recording the songs is such a feet! For Jorge and the whole cast/crew.
Yes finally someone else mentions this! The second “I fight for us” in H+I was my least favorite of those moments (Edit: I mean the old h+i)
Right? I love how there's less autotune in the songs, especially Polites' vocals. He sounds more natural and great in the remake version :D
I don't think it was meant to sound like a genuine laugh. it was more like a smug "HA i was right"
Luke Holt watches every video when it drops, and Steven Dookie wanted to be kept up to date on the progress of this channel, so it's probably safe to say they've either watched this, or are going to soon. I've never said anything that makes me this proud of someone. Congratulations on all of the success you both have had from Epic.
Wait really?
Bombom!

I just realized that Odysseus has a small rasp when saying "Imminent" in horse and the infant!
That choir behind Zeus are the other gods
I thought Athena that you? Hinting that it is a test since Athena is always testing Odysseus.
@@aniheartsong5102 Its them all. You can hear Poseidon and Hermes a bit and Athene a lot cause Teagan's voice is just so powerful.
This is exactly what I'll need on the bus ride home from work, perfect timing
22:57 the euryscylla image got me burst out laughing 😭😭😭
It feels like the first two sagas are performed live and i absolutely love that. It makes you feel like you are there.
Oooh yes I love the beginning of Suffering so much! That song might be my favorite Thunder Saga song (it’s a close competition, but still)
@@Azziyaisalwaysonline Suffering is currently my favorite of the entire musical, maybe because its fresh but the beginning of it hits every time
When it came out it was my favorite, now I would say its 3rd or 4th (Ruthlessness taking 1st, underworld taking 2nd, and I’m still deciding between Scylla and Polyphemus for 3rd and 4th and then just a man takes 5th)
54:45 Accurate Athena with auburn hair??????!!!!! That’s amazing!!!
"Jorge, when I find you Jorge" -Mortius 2024 best quote. Makes me giggle everytime
“That’ll be 20 dollars”
MASON BEING A SAVAGE😭
12:46 I think the bit you're saying you like a little less with the choir is adding Penelope's voice to some words as like, Zeus using her to manipulate Odysseus?
Everything about this video is so darn good - the commentary, the reactions, the banter, the information, Wet Hades, Mortius's villainous laughter, the motif mistake - EVERYTHING!!!!! But as someone who dabbles in video editing, Mason's hilarious editing really made it special this time around.

Also my favourite Troy Saga song is definitely Warriors of the Mind! Especially the remade version has some awesome divine chorus, befitting of our beloved Divine Sugar Momma! And Teagan is an absolutely Goddess on Earth!
I love this comment! I'm glad you enjoy my edits! I put a lot of work into these videos :D
OMG OARIONS ARE SO WELL FED! 🧅
So excited to see you both react to the new version of THATI (YOU CAN HEAR TEAGAN'S VOICE IN THE GODS' CHORUS), WOTM harmonies and Teagan's vocal again! And of course, Steven Dookie's Polites. ❤🩹 (Those are the differences that I especially love from the new versions. The divine chorus for our beloved Divine Sugar Momma is very fitting and has yeeted me into the heavens.)
So curious about both your song rankings!
Mortius cackling while Casper looks like he's reliving trauma with his eye twitching.... love your dynamic together!
Mason, you're awesome for being able to put up with these two, hahaha!
my thought on the added choire to horse and infant is that they are all the gods that will apear in the musical
Fun fact: In the remastered Full Speed Ahead, you can distinctly hear Steven’s (Polites) voice in most of the chorus lines after he’s introduced! I like that detail, we were missing the boi in the original :)
RIP Polites and the singular Odyssey braincell, you will be missed
You two are my favorite epic reactors hands down. This video was amazing and im loving all ur takes tbh. And omfg Mason makes the videos so much better lol. Love u all
Mason’s “That’ll be 20 bucks” made me laugh lol. So cute 😂
56:26 you finally caught it man. High five.
If the characters showing up aren’t canonically romanceable we riot lmao

It’s ridiculous how big my smile is when open arms starts playing😭 Oh Polites, too soon. (If u don’t like this song,u don’t know happiness apparently🤨)
I love how evil Mortius's laugh sounds. It's so amazing
Proper villain cackle he has

How could you guys NOT react to "This is the will of the gods" :OOOO It's so much more dominant and thunderous than the prev version
The Eurylla flashback lol
I love you guys so much as a duo, I'm so glad you both made a channel together! Also can we talk about how AMAZING Mason's editing was in this? Excited for cyclops saga 😁
It's refreshing to hear Mortius say he's a Eurylochus defender, because I support Eurylochus so much that I straight-up changed my Tik Tok bio to "I will defend Eurylochus beyond my dying breath."
I’m not able to choose a favorite song. That you two are able to put them into tiers is amazing.
Mason, genius editing. Thank you for that input
"Yes obviously" they say about Just a Man being S tier... Meanwhile, my list:
*S* - Warrior of the Mind
*A* - The Horse and the Infant
*B* - Open Arms
*C* - Just a Man | Full Speed Ahead
*D* -
*F* -
Reasoning:
Athena revealing her callousness, the lone viola playing the danger motif as soon as young Odysseus has caught her eye, everything highlighting that their dynamic is very unequal but they have still made it work before - Warrior of the Mind is just SO GOOD.
Not the weirdly elongated birds
I’m so happy you guys have a channel together now, and I love the official Epic albums, they sound so clear now!
I always heard it as "why should we take when we could give" and I think it still sounds like Athena says "Well done, you lied to me" ngl lol
Mason, providing that levity and keeping us honest all at the same time.
Casper has given me such a greater appreciation for this musical with his incredible knowledge of music production and singing I love it so much
Mortius just continues to personify me in aspect when reacting to these songs though
Absolutely the best duo
I adore full speed Ahead it gives me Drunken Sailor, Wellerman vibes
You're talking about all these changes... Everything literally sounds the exact same to me, so I got no idea what the fuck you're on about.😂
At best, I hear new sound effects, but the instruments and vocals, I literally can't tell the difference.
honestly, best part ofthe remade versions is that less autotune in general and everything is much clearer to hear
"There's no way this video end up under an hour"
*glances at video length*
I mean.... Mason did his best?
For me its definitely 1 Warrior of the mind, 2 horse and the infant, 3 full speed ahead and 4 just a man and open arms are equal, hope Casper doesnt forget that the entire reason they visit the cyclops is because of polites who also was convincing Odysseus to lower his guard even though they are on an unknown island
Edit: The reason this war happened the way it did is because when suitors came for Helens hand Tyndarius her father didn't know how to avoid the bloodshed from picking any of them, Odysseus who decided to forgo Helens hand for the pretty and smart niece of Tyndarius Penelope, he told the Spartan king that if he can gain Penelopes hand he would tell him a solution, it being the oath of Tyndarius, where the suitors would give their word that they would protect the right of the one Helen chooses. He also tried to act Mad, like he lost his mind in order not to go to the war since he didn't swear any oaths but one of the seers that the Greeks possessed said to succeed in this war they needed Odysseus and Achilles so they weren't letting him not participate
The men mentioned in Horse and the Infant are in order -Diomedes he was managed to wound Aphrodities wrist in the war and recovered the Palladium(Mark of Athena for pjo references) that provided troy protection when he came home he discovered his wife was unfaithful(a punishment from Aphrodity) and that his claim to the throne was disputed and he left to settle somewhere else.
-Ajaxs the Lesser was a real piece of work, he was boastful and arrogant, he violated Kassandra infront of Athenas statue and was nearly stoned to death by his allies the Greeks, when they were leaving Troy Athena and Poseidon collaborated in killing him, Athena by wrecking his ship and Poseidon by casting him to the sea and drowning him when he managed to swim to a rock and boast his superiority to the gods
-Nestor was the son of Neleus(king of pylos) and Chloris(nymph goddess of flowers) his brothers were all slain by Herakles, he was about 70 in the Iliad and he tells Telemachus what he and the rest of them suffered in the war.
The based opinion is putting every song in best of the best
Warrior of the mind is my favorite from the Troy saga. It’s just really fun to jam to
21:21 the only thing I personally have to criticize (like, mild mild criticism) about the remastered soldiers, is that they sometimes sound like less people then in the first version because you can hear the individual voices now, which lessens the effect of there being fewer and fewer voices in the chior as the story progresses a little bit for me. But I'll take it for those beautiful new harmonies!
Great thoughts on the saga! Love Troy so much, it's truly great from start to finish.
Pretty sure nobody agrees with me on order, heh, but that's what's so fun with a musical so consistently outstanding! I gotta go with:
-The Horse and the Infant
-Full Speed Ahead
-Warrior of the Mind
-Just a Man
-Open Arms
One one hand - agree. On the other hand - I'm pretty sure he picked those who can fight, not those who can fight fish/lh
Caspers sheer ptsd due to the wet hades and posiren hyjinx is hilarious........... also umm eurilafin anybody the fullspeed ahead part
Mason's edits honestly contribute just as much enjoyment for me as your reactions. I love the wit.
"That'll be $10"
"These take 8 minutes each."
13:21 "No he didn't" 😆
The brief flash of "No" 😂
"What is wrong with him" 40:26 🤣
Something a LOT of people miss in the new Just A Man, listen very very very closely to the background when the "when does a man become a monster" part starts
(spoilers for it below)
You can hear the mutiny motif, the violins.
I can't wait to see the reactions to the new Cyclops songs. I like the new versions way better. The emotions are insane
33:15 "I can't quite justify Banger with howmany songs we have ahead" For me, Full Speed Ahead is going straight into Best of the Best, It recently became my favourite song from the Troy saga.
I love that you are doing this Tier List thing.
My ranking so far is:
S: Warrior of the Mind, Just a Man
A: Open Arms
B: The Horse and the Infant
C: Full Speed Ahead
If we only talk about the song, Just a Man probably would be over Warrior of the Mind for me, but I just love it so much more, to sing along to Warrior of the Mind, that it is my Top Song of the Troy Saga.
My favourite is without hesitation "Open arms" 😊
Fantastic editing from Mason! Really funny additions :)
Incredible.

Yes! love this dissection of the new songs! Tier list is also an awesome way to keep things fresh
