I dunno why, but it completely cracks me up in the death where, if you miss your ride evacuating the mothership and you've got plenty of time left before it blows, the game just decides to actually be somewhat merciful to you and blows you up right then and there. >XD
The game is supposed to be a comedy. Roger Wilco is supposed to be a bumbling moron who accidentally saves the universe again and again despite his own ineptitude. When he dies, the programmers aren't laughing at you, they're laughing at Roger Wilco for dying yet again. Don't take the game so seriously!
That was one of the hallmarks (and criticisms) of the Sierra Adventure games- they pulled no punches when it came to your character dying. And they could die very easily. I miss the glory days of the Adventure genre. Sierra, LucasArts/Lucasfilm Games, where have you gone?
It's fun to figure out the puzzles when there is a bit of a challenge. These games rarely have time-limited or reaction-based puzzles (although there are a few exceptions) so you can try out different solutions at your own pace. If you save your game often, dying isn't really a problem. And most of the time, the deadly choices are obvious. The point of these videos is to look at the humorous death sequences that are characteristic of Space Quest games.
the reason I asked if the video features the '16' color vga version of SQ1 remake because for years I had thought the death by showing the amry droid your id too many times was only available on the '16' but apparently not because this is definitely the regular vga remake release. I don't know why I though that
What's so unbelievable about that? There is a lot of text in this game, after all. It's not very surprising that there are a few typos in some of the less common death messages. At least there are no typos on the first screen (like in Double Dragon III).
Ha,ha, this game is so funny, it keeps reminding you are an imbecile when you screw up, Monty Python humor right there. Wouldn't mind seeing deaths in today's adventure games as long as they bring you back right before you died, no need to save and load constantly.
I understand about the puzzles, i just find unfair that is so easy to die even for the smallest error, and when you die looks almost like the programmers laugh at you when as maybe you sayd too, "Isn't really your fault" because you have just tryed to do that scene for the first time.
Imagine playing the original Space Quest. The player had to spend almost as much time guessing at how to correctly phrase the verb+noun combination than they did actually playing.
I love how the Grim Reaper has the whole planet in his grasp.

Because the time is over, but we didn't notice it.

And 5:04 bondo in that whole.
NANI ?!
"seqeunce" at 9:18 contributes.
@@aviation_nut "You'll need to react a little faster be little sharper than that.

0:10 I found an overtyped typo "your."

And THAT is why you don't overwrite saves!
Do you die if you get caught between the Macromat field thingies when they spark?
I find thes death scenes scary and disturbing...
I have no idea what you're talking about. I never ran into that death. How do you trigger it?
:D Congralutatins you survived....but EARTH NOT!
Artur Chlebak It's Xenon. And it got Alderaan'd.
@MindstormXL That's not a death. That's just a comment you get at the end of the game, it doesn't end the game so it's not counted as a death.
Ah, I'm embarassed. It's the same message as if you miss with the grenade so they are bunched into one.
Nice
Did anybody else catch the misspelling in the first dialog box?
Yep. “Now your just carbon” lmao.
What happened the deah here you get to Xenon but forgot to bring the Star Generator Cartridge with you?
I saw "your dead" in those dialog boxes.... So I guess even Sierra makes spelling errors :P

This explains all then, yeah i'm probably too much an hardcore gamer to may have understand it by my own ^^;
Is this the "16" color VGA version? I can't say for sure because the resolution available is so poor
you missed the one at 5:00
we hate to tell you this but your dead again at these rate you'll never see the end of the game
This game looks frustrating if you die for anything and the creators tease you everytime like that =\

I get it. You're making fun of the poor spelling.
