      Thanks! Wait until you see the OTHER pit that was on this lot (for the building right next door) that was a saloon at the time. We got some really nice finds out of that one. Will be in our next video!

    Save that mason for a lamp/light. Very cool idea good sir. Definitely hang onto that lid. Folks are always needing those lids.... Me included. Lol Please be sure to show us the end results from the electrolysis on the naughty Nelly.

      Definitely! and I did! It's shown in the cleanup at the end. Has some bad iridescence though so would need to be tumbled or something. Probably not "worth" the effort. Maybe a temporary solution like mineral oil to make it less foggy

      Thank you! Wish we got into some better age in this one, being that the house was 1820's, but we plan to go back and see if we can probe another pit. We DID get a pit a few feet over from this one, that wasn't for the house, but the saloon right next door. As I mentioned in the last part of this video, we got a TON of great early beers and other sweet finds in that one. That will be in our next video!

    All those killer shards gave me flashbacks. That strongs off the bat was unbelievable! wish it was stronger...😢. Like that Bennington mib for you and door knob cleaned up nice. Amazing that knowles pitcher was intact. The whites shard displays well, nice jug. The syrup pitcher would have been a dandy. Makes me wanna ebay myself one up, does yours glow? Naughty Nellie definitely is deserving of a bath, keep us pisted on progress. Also its amazing how fast you were able to ID her Shayne. Nice sample swamp cure. The amber flask with glob and the Cylinder are Sick (Double rainbow). Pipe bowls lids nice. Hey i wonder if the castle gave patients kilmers products? Thats a hospital dump we should try and scout out! Next time you go lemme know bro's...🍻😎⚡️🍀

      Thanks buddy! I bet that syrup pitcher will glow. I haven't tested it, but I have a feeling it would light up like a Christmas tree! I believe Ryan has been up to some of those dumps before. Mike and Ryan found one along part of the creek but it was really tough to be able to dig. This spring/summer we def have to get out together to do some digging AND detecting!

    ParlorCityPickersand Diggers,The small storage rectangular aqua blue bottle is made from melting used bottles at 14:23 I believe is a Chinese opium bottle.

      @ParlorCityPickersDiggers  Год назад +3

      Hey John, which small storage rectangular bottle are you referring to? Also, though the size/form is similar to that of a Chinese opium, the bottle at 14:23 is American made for sure. My guess is probably some sort of essence/perfume

    Nice dig! I feel your pain with the Strongs, I was cleaning an unlisted version of a RI pharmacy bottle recently and out of nowhere it also popped a crack which grew 3 times in a couple days.

      Thanks! It was totally random and unexpected. I've seen them before, so I was familiar with them. Just never thought of it as being the type of item that would come up in a privy. Though pretty much anything is possible. I'll try to make a post when we clean it

    • @ParlorCityPickersDiggers
      @ParlorCityPickersDiggers  Год назад

      You will definitely get them! If you're finding stems, you'll find the bowls! The stems are actually harder to find usually. We find more bowls than stems. Maybe just because they are easier to spot with the eye

    The mark on the chamber pot lid is a British registry mark. It will tell you the exact day it was made. Look up "British registry mark", see which version of the mark it is (there's a pre 1867 and post 1867 version).

    • @ParlorCityPickersDiggers

    What do you say to homeowners to allow you to dig in their property. I have trouble getting people to let me. I know many will say no but maybe I’m missing something?

    • @ParlorCityPickersDiggers
      @ParlorCityPickersDiggers  9 месяцев назад +1

      I basically just explain what we do and tell them we will be respectful and clean up our mess. Sometimes helps to show them pictures, especially if you might have an old sanborn map or other map that shoes their property on it. Makes you seem more legit and believable. It's a weird thing, and many homeowners might not understand and might be skeptical. The last thing you want to do is sketch them out. I just always try to keep it short and sweet, while still giving a good explanation of why we are there and knocking on their door

    What is a ‘ seed ‘layer?

    • @ParlorCityPickersDiggers
      @ParlorCityPickersDiggers  Год назад +1

      The seed layer is a "use" layer from when this outhouse pit was still actively being used as a toilet. They are seeds from the foods these people ate back in the 1800s/early 1900s. The seeds don't decompose and weren't digested.
