    That’s a burl, a very desirable piece of wood that grows on the trunk of a tree. The voids are part of the beauty. Because of the nature of a burl it can be difficult to identify what sort of wood it is.
    You made a great job of it and it looks fab.

      Thanks Mark. I love working with burls, but most of what I have gotten my hands on I haven’t known the type of wood.

      I think she was trying to get something other than black...alcohol inks normally are transparent.

    I can’t say what wood that is, but I don’t think that’s a root ball. Looks to me like you got yourself a nice little burl. It looks great.

    Other senses often signify mystery woods...does it smell like anything? It's not spiky wood?

    • @VickiAndersonwoodturning
      @VickiAndersonwoodturning  3 месяца назад +1

      It is funny you say that I do remember a smell that was reminiscent of something but could never put my finger on it. When I turn the other piece that I have I will have to pay more attention. Yes it was very spiky all over once I removed the bark.
      Thanks for your watching, comments and suggestions.

    Why would you destroy natures beauty with plastic? It’s a shame. Sorry, just my opinion.
