Woodturning - Battle-Scarred Live Edge Apricot Bowl

  • As the quote at the beginning of this woodturning video says: “Scars are just reminders that you are stronger than whatever tried to hurt you.” (Unknown).
    This Colorado Apricot tree looks like it has been through some battles! I’m not sure how it grew like this, with parts of the heartwood and sapwood wrapped around horizontal branch extrusions. Or maybe they were intrusions? I don’t know, but the resulting piece of wood was weird!
    I decided to keep the rim as untouched as possible because it’s just so interesting. Basic woodturning techniques produced the finished bowl you’ll see at the very end of the video. It’s certainly got a lot of character.

      At this point, I don’t have enough of anything to put in all the bowls I’ve made! :)
