The amount of detail Hara has woven into Kanki's character as a whole is simply astounding, especially in relation to the current chapters, seeing his back story which recontexualizes and puts into perspective everything that's either been shown or hinted in the past. I wouldn't even be surprised to suspect that Kanki, as Shin's foil, was born into slavery as well, hence why he calls Shin "Slave", viewing him to be the most villainous person, as well as calling Sei the most murderous. Kanki, like Sei, witnessed/experienced the full brunt of humanity's darkness. But Shin had Hyou and Sei had Shiki to act as those shining beacons of light. Kanki more than likely only had himself and the darkness, that only continued once he used that darkness to shield his inner circle of friends who, in a twisted way, are the only embers that act as sources of heat that perpetuate his flames of wrath rather than shine as firelight. Good job at holistically expanding upon those in this video🔥🔥
Yeah I spent more than a month working on it and rereading most of the times he went on monologues and through out I was in awe at the level of writing and depth that hara has been putting into Kanki. It's brilliant through and through
I strongly believe that there are some misunderstood points about Kanki. Note that no one refers to Sei as sadistic even though he is the one who launched these invasions. Kanki disregards all the law because once you submit to a certain behavior, your actions tend to be excused, therefore the war continues. In fact if everyone was as savage as Kanki there would be a possibility that people would abandon war altogether, but now, when it`s sort of compromised it just goes on endlessly. Thus came "Keep struggling for all eternity you small fries". Also, the very last attempt to kill Riboku could have succeeded had Kanki took Kyokai with him, but he did not want Shin to become like him, and he took it upon himself to do the job, basically telling his own Kingdom to go f**k itself. Which I respect to no end. "Time to learn how the adults fight." Kanki lived and died like a G.
Kanki is goated, all three scenarios you paint for betrayal at the end are very likely. The best would be a team up with Ousen, that would be a terrifying pair of antagonist. I don't believe Ousen would betray Qin unless he truly thought he had an unbeatable plan to conquer and become King.
@@Expizzapie1811 I went thru the manga to find out why Duke Hyou wasn't a great gen; he didn't feel worthy compared to those who got the titles, and so he declined.
@@edwinpoon he just didn't have the conviction as them, he is comparable to them with strength and talent, the only difference is that he was born to be a warrior. They are born to conquer. Yes he isn't a great general at title, but he could be if he wanted.
In the manga I completely agree with Kanki and find shin annoying a lot. Like he said sei is the biggest murderer, every soldier death is one his hand as king. But I really want a ousen flashback or learn his background.
But there is a massive difference between deaths of people that signed up to be a fighting soldier and soldiers that surrendered. Most of all civilians.
Not really though if it was any other general they wouldn't have died. The general would've figured out a different way to deal with those situations but Kanki chose that.
My point still stands if they're other generals then why haven't sei used them? If other generals could handle situations better then Kanki then why can't Sei just stripe him of his rank? Is Sei not the King of Qin who sent Kanki out on the campaign? Can't blame Kanki for the outcome of war that was waged because of Sei ambition to "unite all of China"
@@Ace_D And Sei still chose to pick Kanki after knowing that he kills civilians, if Sei cares about the other kingdom surrendered soldiers and civilians then he shouldn't have Kanki as a 6gg. We know Kanki use tactics such as killing civilians but why give him the power to continue if it's so bad? Is Sei ambition so high that he is continuing to allow a monster such as Kanki to continue what he is doing? We see who the real villain is.

When Kanki died, Shin inherited his Fire of Will; that's why Shin was the most affected of all the survivors.
