Astle is the king!
Jeff Astle was the best header for the Albion, as long as the crossing was good Jeff always looked like scoring, not only that he was instrumental in starting off moves from Inside the Albion half, giving the ball to Clive Clarke, who would beat several defenders, before crossing the ball for Jeff to head in, wonderful days! The Albion should have won more than the FA Cup in 1968,but sadly it wasn't to be. Great days!
loved king jeff'' was 10 when we won the cup''i remember being in the brummie road and when chippy 'went down the wing or [sir]bobby hope crossed the ball the crowd used to sway and you got carried forward like a tidal wave in anticipation of an astle header ripping into the net'''took you 10 mins to get back to where you were standing ''fantastic atmosphere them days r.i.p the king''' long live the king'' to the tune of hey jude [beatles] la'la'la la'la'la'la'la'la'la'la' hey jeff'''clap'clap clap'clap [repeat'''''''''''''''' soulgraywba
Astle is the king. Astle is the king. The Brummie Road will sing this song. Astle is the king. 👑🙌
Wish he'd have fluffed his chance against Everton and put away his big chance in Guadalajara. Only Albion, and maybe Liverpool fans would think otherwise but had he scored in 70 we may just have managed to hang on to the World Cup. A bit of remorse for his blunder wouldn't have gone amiss either.
Can we get an apology from every member of the team for such a disgraceful performance today please? After QPR & now this, I can see that there is no desire in any member of the current squad to play with passion & commitment for West Bromwich Albion. The only passion I saw today was from the fans. I'm afraid we are a Championship team with championship players living on borrowed time. Will anyone from West Bromwich Albion care to comment?
Apparently not. Chris Brunt is played out of position at left back, Morrison was okay, lescott had a shocker, and pulls gave everything. The players, like you said, have no desire. I hope we stay up, hopefully the 'Irvine loose the ball and forget how to pass' is forgot. Tbh, Berahinio was shit too. Gardner and Flecher had a right go. Ideye tried, same as anichabe when he came on. The rest... Need to step up their game or else we are done. We need to go attacking. Formation 3-3-4 with mcmannaman on right (when he is fit) Berahinio on left, Ideye/Anichabe in ST.
Mid: Yacob Gardner and Flecher (C)
Def. pocanyoulli at lb and gambowa at rb with Macaulay/ lescott and Dawson. He is played RB, out of position.
Clarke, Mel, Irvine, Downing, Pulis, it doesn't matter who's in charge, there's one common denominator, and that's the players. They're just not good enough. Okay you get one good game in three off some players, others are just mediocre, and some are just not good enough full stop. JP must have seen his investment halve over the last week, and anyone coming in must surely realise they need to spend at least £50-60m to get some good players. Struggling to see where the next point is going to come from. 33 isn't going to be enough
Made up they beat everton 68
Jimmy husband alone lost us that cup final,we murdered albion twice that season and were all over them in the final, just wasn't to be thats football, glad for astle though as he is a great guy.
