    I have an S&S 124 HC Twin Cam crate motor in my 2015 Street Glide with 47,000 miles on it. I've been all over the US on multiple trips in 30 to 108 degree weather and have had minimal issues with this engine. I can cruise between 80 and 125 MPH all day in the western states and this engine loves it, yet it has good manners in stop and go traffic. Maintenance is the key to reliability and longevity with these engines. I do my own work and make sure things are right between trips. I took the heads off at 20,000 miles to look it over. Although things didn't look bad, I honed the cylinders, put new piston rings on and replaced the valve springs and seals while it was apart. I also replaced the lifters at the same time. I viewed that as cheap insurance. Like this guy said, a clutch upgrade, air cleaner, exhaust, ignition, throttle body, and a bigger oil tank were all necessities. I also change the oil every 2500 miles and use 20-50 synthetic.
    I have shut it down a few times in stop and go traffic on 95 degree days when the factory head temperature sensor hit 330 degrees to prevent possible damage to the engine, but I do not have an extra oil cooler or head fans like this guy does. I chose not to spend the money for those things and just watch the temperature in tough conditions. I have not converted to chain drive and I'm running my original belt, but I don't do burnouts, 2nd gear wheelies and stuff like that.
    I'm running a 2 into 1 exhaust made by Khromeworks and I have to tell you, it sounds pretty good going over the Rocky Mountains at the higher RPM's. My engine dynoed 148 horsepower and 142 lbs. of torque. I had some head work done by MegaFlo to raise the horsepower a bit.
    No regrets, I would recommend this engine to anyone who wants to enjoy serious power and is mindful of regular maintenance.

      @jorgevela8450 2 месяца назад

      Surprised didn’t need chain conversion, good to know the belt will hold up at 130hp.

      Like I said, I'm not doing burnouts or 2nd gear wheelies, my power is applied at 50 MPH and up. My horsepower is 148 and torque at 142 by the way.

My Evo,TC, and M8 are all high compression,big cam,high rpm bikes.They all run from Ohio to Daytona and back every year with no incident.Only reason for bikes built like that is a few of us just plain enjoy mastering big power,then using it.Very nice build.👏👏👏

      I agree. To me, building a harley and having it operate as near to flawless as possible, was a right of passage. Growing up seeing the guys that had bikes and couldn't ever keep them running well and seeing the guys that had highly modified bikes that seemed to always be running good without failure, I always new it had alot to do with the operator. Although for me, while growing up, those guys were riding mostly shovels and a handful of evos. Regardless, it had been a goal of mine since I was small, to one day have a harley, not be stock, and have all systems operating concert.

    I throughly enjoy your videos, very well put together. I too run a S&S 124, and cut a few $$ with having a bike builder custom build one for my needs. I'm still cranking out 140/140 on an "08 Road King and it's my Sturgis travel bike, strong as hell. You can't go wrong when wanting more power than with some major cubes. As for some of the associating upgrades, the compensator is a must as is the clutch and I found the front motor mount needed upgrades. I have put nearly 20K miles on the factory belt and tranny with this engine, no problems.
    Love your bikes, videos and enthusiasm, keep it up.

    Hey mate from OZ..Love that serious weapon you've got there..Very tasteful mods all round👌
    I've been watching your vids on and off now for the last 5yrs or so when I get the chance and love seeing how and what others do with the same bike as mine..
    Is that the ultracool oil cooler you're running there, and have you had any issues with it? Also have you ever measured the engine temps you're getting it up to on hot days with the cooler on?
    Either with your previous 110 or on the 124?
    I've got the mini love jugs and they do help a bit but im just deciding which oil cooler im gunna have to go with, because as you know when you start giving it a bit of stick these things start cooking rapidly..
    And if i keep going the way im going without an oil cooler i fear its gunna shit itself soon..And this bikes a keeper for me too..TIA👍

      @FXDLSBrooklyn  5 месяцев назад +1

    I'll admit, and I'm not one to humble myself to such humble proclamations...having ridden your Dyna last fall, I haven't quit thinking about "the perfect Dyna."
    Unlike you, my starting point to everywhere I ride is not urban clusterfrak that would make me feel like I would be destroying the aluminum and steel cooking me a few inches away, and within ten fast minutes I could be riding on the stretch of road in the country; 1-71 south from Sparta to Louisville Kentucky...(sure Texas and Utah have long stretches of highway, south of Atlanta, 1-80 westbound from the Poconos on Sunday mornings, but 1-71 is aggressive, and you're doing battle with methChallengers, Chromestack tuned Cummins powered dually's, outlaw Porsches and day trucks...) Within a half an hour I can be on Rt.22 which is the Midwestern Isle of Man,...yes a high horsepower light, huge torque Harley fits into my wheelhouse...
    Floorboards this time perhaps, expensive suspension, fxrt fairing with taller windshield...
    I must not think bad thoughts....

      Respectfully disagree - I dig the raw & simple aesthetic of the stealth and haven't had any issues 🏁 ⚡

    There is no difference between an hour or a hundred hours, engine-wise. If it makes it an hour, it'll make it a hundred. Engines don't have feelings. :P. Also, I'm not broke but not overloaded with money either. How do you afford taking these "chances" on an engine? Maybe you have endless $$$s. I have a few extra $$$s but not limitless money.
