I'm a 365 a year rider myself(unless there's ice on the ground), and biggest tip I can give is rthis "NEVER ADD THROTTLE AND LEAN AT THE SAME TIME" My harley is my only vehicle. so I dont have a choice, if it's rain or shine, bike it is. I have ridden in wild downpours with my GF on the back. But I learned that bit of advice the hard way. I got a video of the crash on my channel, showing you just why you never add throttle and lean at the same time. Especially on a wet surface. I almost lost my dream bike, and my primary transport. What I like for winter is heated gloves, heated grips, A Snow/rainbib with a Rainshell over top my leather jacket and airbag vest. I have a Bright orange Helly Hansen rainshell and orange snowbib rainpaints. I look like a trafic cone on a harley but hey rain and snow i want to be seen, so traffic cone is exactly what i wanna look like. I can look cool riding in the summer. But yeah, every single person who sees this video remember, never add throttle and lean at the same time. Accelerate, get into your turn and carefully slowly smoothly maintain speed and as you come out of the turn slowly, smoothly, safely add throttle as you come upright. I would not have crashed if I had known this.
Yeah you make a really good point and a point I forgot to mention, which is how much of a game changer running rain gear can be for cold weather riding - A quality set of rain gear really does trap/cut off wind like nothing else
Always a good day when FXDLS uploads a video! As a MA rider, love riding in the fall and winter. Nothing like the ambiance, smells, and scenery of western MA and northeastern NY.
This is Paul S. If there's no ice I'm out on my harley , carhart and leather jacket,. Spanked by yt can't comment on videos, I was a bad boy. Anyway merry Christmas happy new year to you and your family
i should get an FXR with an FXRT fairing and lowers, and put on some ADV tires and add studs to the blocks. i'll keep a '07 Dyna Super Glide as a summer hooligan machine.
Been riding year round in Massachusetts for 2 full year. I'd consider myself a noob at it still, but I've gotten so much better from it. Riding dirtbikes helps too.
I regularly ride through -30° weather here, just a T-Sport fairing and hand guards. Gear is everything! I do need new gloves I gotta say, otherwise I’m good.
@ similar to all your gear honestly. I have wool lined winter doc martens, nbt insulated riding pants that really cut the wind and the most significant change that I’ve ever made was trying chaps. It may be hellyeahbrotherr but holy shit it totally kills the wind. I have a leather jacket like yours, typically something like a madball or warzone long sleeve under with a carhartt balaclava under my modular. My gloves are like snowboarding gloves hence the need to upgrade. I just ordered some leather gauntlets that should be here tomorrow 💥
🎉🎉🎉You read my mind man! I’ve been contemplating these matters as the cold weather draws near and I feel like I’m being forced to drive my car more often than riding…but it just doesn’t feel right! ( Even though it’s a ripper!) Thanks for all the info and inspiring words that help solidify my own thoughts about the weather and riding! You’re a true pioneer FXDLS Brooklyn! I’m working on becoming an all season rider myself! See you out there brother! Ride safe and outride your demons!
I appreciate that man! I'm by no means doing anything new, just continuing to experiment and dial in what works best for me - Let me know how it works out for you #OUTRIDE
Living in Texas makes it easier to be a four season rider. Winter is fantastic, at most just need heated gloves and some long johns under my pants along with a good jacket. Summer riding is where it sucks down here lol
10 years now wow much respect. I've been doing it for 6 years now and really thinking about buying a truck for those really bad days. I've been saying for the years now and every time I save enough money for one I buy another motorcycle 😂 hey check out the pants that are kind of like chaps you don't get the cold spots it's what I use highly recommended I go through Fox Creek Leather
Ahh yeah I know what you're talking about, I think First MFG calls them Leather Jeans, but they're essentially what you described, definitely something I plan on trying this summer - Another motorcycle will forever be cooler than a truck ⚡️
@ I live in the hill country so my commute to the city is just a little bit over an hour but you know how Texas weather is in the “winter months” last week it the low was 25 and the high was 70 so it’s a Gamble sometimes.
Unfortunately I live in northern lower Michigan. 99% of the time you can’t ride here during winter. Lol. Many snowmobile. IM 55 and approaching retirement. We are moving to SC in the near future. Sick of winters. Need to ride more.
If you ride all year, I am starting to do the same. How long does it take before the bike starts showing rust when it sleeps outside while being ridden every day?
Shin wind, that's my winter whine. Shin wind turns into knee wind which converts to cold ass and tootsie-popped frosty toe. How do I stop the hurricane from down under without adding lowers on my FXLRST?
i mean i would IF MY BIKE WOULD BE RUNNING Is at the mechanic for over a month now, keep having issues with it we have 4 degrees celsius now and on wednesday there will be 8 !! which is amazing for december but again can't ride :( 2:48 it's turkish actually called Baklava (Baclava) also THANKS haha EYE REVEAL 👁👁 OMG DO YOU ALSO HAVE GREEN EYES LIKE ME
Not bad. Well done video. If you don’t care about looks. I’m in DE and ridden in the teens. Cheapest thing I bought was a Walmart money suit and with a cheap heated vest can keep you going until money frees up for better gear like in this video. 👍🏻
If there is no salt on the roads, I will still ride 🤘🏻💯
After ripping through the Bonneville Salt Flats, my threshold for what I considered to be salty roads has vastly changed
@FXDLSBrooklyn , lol, oh I bet lol.
LOL thanks for responding to me on IG by essentially making a really rad video my brother! Super helpful!
You got it man! I hope that helped!

My hot wired heated liner and heated gloves have been a game changer for years!
Always a good day when FXDLS uploads a video! As a MA rider, love riding in the fall and winter. Nothing like the ambiance, smells, and scenery of western MA and northeastern NY.
Yeah that really is true - Part of the reason why I go to the lengths ride year round ❄️⚡️
@@FXDLSBrooklyn Enjoy the season! P.S. I dig the Incendiary shirt. Always cool seeing hardcore dudes on RUclips.

That’s crazy, assuming this is your wife’s account? Appreciate going through these lengths to still stop by and leave a comment, thanks Paul! 🙏🏼⚡️
@FXDLSBrooklyn it is hers. Your welcome
HEY PAUL! Loved watching the show on discovery channel :D
i should get an FXR with an FXRT fairing and lowers, and put on some ADV tires and add studs to the blocks. i'll keep a '07 Dyna Super Glide as a summer hooligan machine.
That's the winning formula 💯

That's what's up! I also started on the dirt, really need to work that back into my regular riding
I regularly ride through -30° weather here, just a T-Sport fairing and hand guards. Gear is everything! I do need new gloves I gotta say, otherwise I’m good.
What are you running gear wise?

@@FXDLSBrooklyn lol I meant >30° not below zero

the Metal gear codec was a nice touch haha
Shadow Moses gets pretty damn cold this time of year, gotta be prepared
Living in Texas makes it easier to be a four season rider. Winter is fantastic, at most just need heated gloves and some long johns under my pants along with a good jacket. Summer riding is where it sucks down here lol
Oh yeah man, I definitely had my fair share of that type of riding this summer with 115 degrees and above - You ever run a cooling vest before?
@@FXDLSBrooklyn I haven't, but I might look into it when summer rolls around again. Usually I just wear a mesh jacket or vest

Making motorcycle noises, and singing early 2000s pop, hip hop to myself helps me stay warm. 😂
That nineties & early 2000s hip hop is always a good playlist on these longer rides
Appreciate the info!
Glad you found it helpful man, ride safe! ⚡️
The fxrt with lowers is king year around for me in Texas cold or hot.
Truly is a game changer - How’s the weather been down there lately? 40s? 50s?
@ I live in the hill country so my commute to the city is just a little bit over an hour but you know how Texas weather is in the “winter months” last week it the low was 25 and the high was 70 so it’s a Gamble sometimes.
That mgs codec call got me good lmao
Been stuck on deployment in oki but watching your videos in the same area I ride is making me extra home sick 🤒-love the videos though
Unfortunately I live in northern lower Michigan. 99% of the time you can’t ride here during winter. Lol. Many snowmobile. IM 55 and approaching retirement. We are moving to SC in the near future. Sick of winters. Need to ride more.
Be prepared, ride on and ride smart! Be aware of leaves in the fall, sand and ice in the winter.
One of the first lessons my Dad taught me in my early years
Nice tips
If you ride all year, I am starting to do the same. How long does it take before the bike starts showing rust when it sleeps outside while being ridden every day?
I garage all my bikes so I can't really say - But especially if you're regularly putting it through salt, it's definitely something to consider
Shin wind, that's my winter whine. Shin wind turns into knee wind which converts to cold ass and tootsie-popped frosty toe. How do I stop the hurricane from down under without adding lowers on my FXLRST?
None are on the Road unless Needed.
Visor stays clean for Days vs Miles.
Can always add Layers hard to add Protection in the Heat…
Yeah that's true - But there are definitely ways to stay cool and outride that heat
i mean i would IF MY BIKE WOULD BE RUNNING

Thought you'd like that one Paul - How's the new job at the other cinema working out?
@FXDLSBrooklyn oh damn u remembered
Pretty good actually, got used to it and I like it :D
This won’t help in Montana unfortunately
Yeah that’s real man, I have many friends in that situation - However, once the thaw happens, all these things can be a game changer ⚡️

Greek Desert? boy you better watch your mouth. 🇹🇷🇹🇷
What about snowboarding jacket with membrane? Guys in japan rock those🥸 plus you looks cool in it
