Life is always about compromise: most folks don’t have unlimited funds. So we appreciate when other folks like you take the time to unpack their journey and share good and bad. I’ve shot a7iii for years and it’s still proving to be excellent in so many situations. By the way, that little ZV-1 is pretty good for street photography (I don’t Vlog with it). For the price, it’s nice to have a pocket sized camera that shoots RAW :)

I switched from Nikon d750 to an a7iii too and I love it!

Love my Z6ii. It has a grip similar to the D750. It’s also insanely sharp with the new Z glass, especially on my 50mm 1.2 lens. It’s also a low-light monster that even my friend who is a Sony a7iii user and a professional videographer was impressed by it. The menu system on the a7iii is kinda terrible too. Love that Nikon kept its simple menu system. As a wedding photographer, the Nikon Z6ii is more than enough for my needs as it’s autofocus is really good as you learn how each AF-option works. They also give tons of firmware updates to make improve members. They’re probably the most generous with that. Finally, nothing beats Nikon colors straight out of camera (as you have learned).
Check out the Z system again when you get the chance. You’ll like it.

I don’t mind the a7iii menu since I’m used to it from my vlogging camera, but the Z6ii wasn’t released when I was looking to switch and I absolutely needed a dual card slot since I shoot weddings! But I’m glad you love the Z system!!

I switched from Canon to the Sony A7III. Best decision ever! Colors are great and that eye AF is amazeballs!

And with the Nikon D750 you can see the image in real time when you change the settings, not just Sony. When you have the image on the screen, press the "i" button at the bottom left, then scroll to the "Exp" option, select "Activate" and then you can see the settings in real time on the Nikon. ISO differences are almost non-existent sony vs Nikon

Why is this the first time I am hearing of this option? I guess I should have read the Manuel?

What was your favorite lens for nikon d750?

Dear Elizabeth! Nice review, I am just about to make the same switch to A7III from Nikon. You are mentioning the differences in color straight out of camera. Did you manage to create the same style with your editing eventually, so can you create the same style in the final edited pictures with the Sony? Cheers!

Thank you so much for your insight. I find D750 very challenging with low light, even if the lenses offer apertures that are supposedly good for low light situations. And I'm going more video centric as well, and it's a bonus that it's about 6 megapixels more than the D750. Thank you Nikon. I have no regrets over the years. Time to move on...

I'm shooting both. Yes A7iii takes more time in post, more tweaking. eventually, time is money and that's why I prefer shooting on My Nikon Z6ii. few little tweaks and the images looks fantastic. Sony takes more time and if you're shooting a lot of images - that becomes an issue.
I recommend shooting both to enjoy both worlds and advantages

I'm not sure why you can't get the same color in post out of your sony than what you used to have with your Nikon?

It's a little bit complicated than that, Nikon have the reputation of producing better colours out of the camera than Sony's. The irony is that Nikon use Sony built sensors!

Thank you so so much for this! I also started with a D5100 and upgraded to a D750 and am
considering going to a Sony mirrorless as well. I LOVED my Nikon DSLRs because I shoot primarily interiors and primarily for my blog in the beginning. Now I’m more on the content creation and lifestyle side and really need something that’s super easy to carry and travel with. And also something that’s fast, quick and captures stunning images straight from camera. My only concern is ive already invested in so much Nikon glass. I definitely need to be able to still use my lenses. An adapter is the key!

I tested the Sony A7 lll. Fast and Sharp. But will not buy it. Didn’t like the ergo and color science. Tested the Canon R6. Fast and sharp. Nice ergo but didn’t like the colors, flat and dull. Will be testing out the Canon R next….we will see.
