*UPDATES* So which watch do you like best?? Is Fossil, Samsung, or TicWatch the best for Android users? Also, I misspoke when I said the GW4 has Qi charging. I am looking for a smartwatch that allows me to see photos sent on WhatsApp or normal photos taken with my Huawei P10 LITE. I also have a budget of € 120 and can go up to € 150. Could you give me some names? Please answer me; I would need it for a gift, so I would have the utmost urgency.
@@raffaelesicurezza2636 You shouldn't buy the Galaxy Watch if it's a Huawei, because you can't match them with Huawei and Apple phones. Maybe, if I were you, I would buy another Huawei smartwatch like the GT2 pro or the G3, good battery life, answer calls, control your fitness and also see your messages.
On the update/correction front for the Pro 3 Ultra, you stated it was all plastic but it actually has a metal bezel. Also you stated all but the Fossil had silicone bands. Not sure about the Galaxy, but while earlier TicWatch's did use silicone the Ultra has an upgraded rubberized composite that is similar to the new Apple watches....
I will be getting a samsung watch 4 (only cause I have switched cell providers and can get an LTE watch as part of my plan), but I have a bluetooth only ticwatch that I have been using for three generations of it now. I suspect that I will still prefer the ticwatch purely on the bases of battery life and the fact that it still functions as a dumb watch.
Got the Watch4 Classic LTE in Black. Most people struggle to recognise that it's a device at all and I like how I have a very well built smart device which syncs well and works well with my phone(S20) but also flies right under the radar. It's understated and it's amazingly comfortable to use with the bezel.
true! I have the same and with a metal chain strap and a classic analogue watch face, it goes well with formal wear and looks like a classy (dumb) watch Having the rotating bezel and no black bezel around the display makes it so. I saw the fossil gen 6 but it has a huge black bezel which kind of breaks that look.
It's a shame they tried to lock features behind software that can only be used on Samsung phones. Thankfully, a modded app can be installed on literally all other Android phones that unlock the ECG and Blood Pressure features, because Samsung phones do not have anything special and they literally just wanted people to buy Samsung phones, but that shouldn't be necessary.
A Galaxy Watch with the design of the Fossil and the graphical interface (the icons of the Fossil are too beautiful) and the autonomy of the Ticwatch Pro 🤩
I got the tic watch and it's been my favorite android wear/ wear os watch ever. A lot of that has to do with the essential mode preserving the battery and only needing to charge it every 3 days or so. I do wish Wear OS/google fit had native O2 sat/sleep monitoring because I'm not wild about Mobvoi's platform. But overall I'm happy with this.
@iPeter I'm loving it, these days it seems like familiarity with the OS is the big hurdle. After watching some videos I've been getting around just fine. The device itself does youtube and ebook reading via moonreader pro that I always wanted my iPhone to do. I came for the functionality, almost any new device was going to have hardware upgrades.
I've been samsung/android for pretty much my whole life and I'm debating switching to Apple products but my sensibility screams "DONT DO IT!" Any input?
@@Ivy-ne9zw ya don't do it I had the iPhone all the way up to the iPhone 6, I broke the 6 went back to the 4 and couldn't handle the slowness and I took the chance and went with an s6 now I've had the s9 and now the s20, I'll never go back to iPhone samsung lay out and everything is way better you can do anything with these phones they're unreal.
It's crazy how much fitness accuracy changes from all the YTubers who review this watch. These reviews can be good, but without getting the actual watch you'll never know how accurate they are to you. I also think you should speak to the fact while the native GPS or HRM may not be up to par, there are several apps that you can connect a external HRM. That is an option and wish reviewers would talk about it.
certain smartwatches tend to get outdated super fast within 2 to 3 years. so choose wisely, if charging daily is not your cup of tea , you will eventually hate your new flashy smartwatch in a matter of months. smart watches that require daily or every alternate day charging will make one feels like they have two devices , i.e. the phone and smart watch that need constant attention to ensure they dont end up running out of juice. better invest in a watch with battery lasting for at least 5 days or even longer to save you from the battery anxiety.
The frustrating thing about the battery life on a lot of smart watches, to me, is that they advertise sleep tracking and everything. When am I going to have the battery to use the sleep tracking, at the end of the day?
I'm leaning towards the TicWatch at this point, the battery is the biggest issue with my current, ancient smartwatch and I do sometimes go off the grid for a week at a time where it would be nice to still have some tracking and the time. I think I'll wait a few days to see if the rumors about the pixel watch coming out are true or not then probably end up ordering the TicWatch if it either doesn't get announced or isn't as appealing to me.
I have at three generations of the tic watch now... and still use a ticwatch pro 3. I can easily get 3 days even with moderate usage... that said I have button only to wake (prevents it from waking unintentionally), I don't always have the heartrate monitor on and I NEVER turn on location services (GPS will more then half the battery life, honestly its a pig).
No more walking around with charger. Left fossil and went Ticwatch pro 3. I can't go back until fossil utilizes the screen and gets better battery life
I've had my TicWatch Pro 3 since about February, I don't have to consciously take time out to charge it. No matter what watch I get I'm not taking it in the bath or shower, soap and hot water, just don't like the idea of it. So as a result I put the TicWatch on charge for 10 minutes each morning when I shower or 20-30 mins on the weekend if I have a bath, as a result I don't have to take it off purely to charge it, it just gets done when I would naturally take my watch off anyway. The above might sound a bit odd of a justification or mentality, I guess my point is, I doubt the other watches in this line up would be able to do this to anywhere near the same degree.
I was very disappointed that Samsung stuck with their proprietary apps. I was hoping with the move to wear OS they would ditch them. For that reason I'm leaning more to the Fossil but the delay in updating to Wear OS 3 has me on the fence if I want to snag one now or wait to see what hardware revisions come out by the time the Samsung exclusivity ends.
Everyones upset about delayed os3, way i see it is you get two dopamine rushes instead of one... with samsung there's nothing to look forward to, fossil you know you're getting that update, and when you do itll be a new watch experience all over again :) yeah samsung apps stink, and i read an article that explained that they just looove to collect and sell user data to a point that many consider invasive. Sorry samsung, my blood pressure and body composition arent yours to sell.
I Have the Tic Watch Pro 3 GPS, had this for around 6 months. Great Watch. I wanted to try the Samsung Watch 4 Classic LTE. I got it today. My first impression is that the battery life is seriously lacking. The 1st day I had it, it didn't even last a whole day, whereas with the Tic Watch I never worry about battery life. Since I have my TWP3GPS set up and I get all the notifications correctly, and on the SW4CLTE it's not really set up at all, I'm still liking the TWP3GPS. I think I'm going to return the SW4CLTE. I'm not digging it and the battery life sucks. I may buy the Tic Watch 3 Pro Ultra. It has a couple of things I like that aren't on the TW3PGPS. It has the colored essential mode, which has got to be better than the black essential mode on the TW3PGPS. It also has a compass, and it's got that standard MIL-STD-810G which means it's more durable than my TW3PGPS. The only thing I really wanted was having the LTE, but its not available on the TW3PGPS or the Tic Watch Ultra.
It irks me that in 2021, big companies like Samsung and Fossil can't get their battery life to a comfortable level. I'm currently daily driving a Fossil Gen 5 and it goes from full to 30% in about 4 hours on some days. Probably going to make the TWP3U my next purchase
Nah. always on display, full brightness, wifi, gps and health tracking all turned on gets me 24 hours on my galaxy watch. I charge it for a hour before bed and wear it to sleep, never had it below 15%.
Same they look great and I like that they feel more of like a stock wearOS watch. No bloat like the others. Only "bloat" are the fossil faces, but they're nice
As the owner of the GW4C LTE 46mm,I was really disappointed with battery life at first. After latest update though battery has been great,I mean really great. Been getting 40 plus hours easily. Only takes a hit during exercises. Thumbs up to Samsung for getting it right.
I just did a bunch of research on this myself (including a bunch of your videos!) after pestering one of my friends repeatedly about her Apple Watch, and I more or less landed where you did. I was initially more drawn to the fossil 6 because of its appearance and advertised rapid-charging. But saw the disadvantages of no OS3 and a higher price tag (very high in Canada). Once I looked into it more, I saw that the galaxy watches have a better price point in Canada (unless I get LTE and top-end everything), have OS3, and there are a number of third-party accessories available that make it just about as fashionable as the fossil. Moreover, I already have a galaxy phone and tablet, so my current "ecosystem" is pretty compatible with a galaxy watch. I did look into Ticwatches, but it seemed like the worst of all worlds for me - no OS3, not as compatible with my current devices, and not as fashionable. But yes, cheaper price and better battery life! I haven't bought mine yet (just got back from travelling and need to bring the credit card down a bit...), but I also landed on the Active, as you suggested at the very end, without the hard bezel. Partially because it's cheaper, partially because I like the rose-gold and that doesn't seem to be available with a hard bezel, and partially because I have a tiny girlish wrist and don't want to end up with a giant watch on it. My goal is to fool my mother into thinking it's a regular analog watch before I show her all the bells and whistles. I debated about springing for LTE (I like the idea of calling and texting from my wrist like a Star Trek character), but honestly, I'm rarely far from my phone, so Bluetooth for those functions is probably fine. I do intend to set up Google pay to pay from my wrist, which seems convenient (this was one of the things that perked my interest in my friend's apple watch). Finally, for anyone who's read this far, I wanted to point out two features on the galaxy watch in particular that I'm drawn to: the "kidnapping" alert and the "hard fall" alert. The former allows you to press the buttons in a specific sequence to send your location to 911. The latter will activate if you have, well, a hard fall. If you don't dismiss the alert it will then send your location to 911. As a lady who often hikes and takes solo trips, as well as dates online, those two features will likely help me to feel much safer.
Both the Fossil Gen 6 and Ticwatch Pro 3 will update WearOs 3 in early 2022. Beware of GW4, as there are lots of reports that it's leggy with WearOs 3, which is why Fossil nor Ticwatch Pro 3 hasn't moved over yet. Also, GW4 is showing signs of inaccurate measures of HR etc... Last but not least, GW4 runs its own assistant, not "Ok Google" and if you don't have a Samsung phone, you can't measure your blood oxygen level. Just an FYI
So I ended up trying all 3 of these over the last month or so. I got the GW4 for cheap as an upgrade from my Galaxy Active 2. Overall it did work well, but 2 major issues for me: 1) Gmail notifications are completely broken right now, as confirmed by several others. This is a huge issue for me as it's one of the primary reasons I have a smartwatch. 2) The fanciest sensors like the ECG requires a Samsung phone Given those issues I tried the Fossil Gen6. I love the look of the device and the 3-button functionality, but the battery life was absolutely awful. Even after a week I didn't even get a full day of use without it running very low on battery, and I didn't even use GPS or anything super crazy. Ended up returning that and ordered the TW Pro 3 Ultra as soon as it was available, and so far loving it. Battery is SO SO much better, it's night and day difference. Looking forward to WearOS 3 on it!
What most tech reviewers don't mention when doing these comparisons is Samsung's trade in programs, you have the option of trading up the new watch,if that's your preference
Got the Fossil, looked how I wanted! The battery isn't great, but I run with my preferred settings so it could be much longer, but it charges very quickly! Perfectly happy with my decision. I got it for cheap! And yes I've already updated to WearOS 3. 🙂
Great video! It really helped me make up my mind on the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra. My biggest struggle with Android Wear since my moto 360 has always been battery life. @ 14:20 you mention discounts in a link in the description, is there one for the Ticwatch? I'm only seeing the 299.99 price point.
I have been wearing fitness tracker type watches, was really excited about the new amazfit but for $70 more getting an actual smartwatch seems like a no brainer. Also, has to be ticwatch because I want AT LEAST 3 days of battery with light use.
Hi Mike, I realize this video is several months old but very well done, and an excellent review of each of these brands and models. Of course, Ticwatch has the Ultra version out now, essentially the same as the original Pro GPS but uses the 4100 co-processor for the second display, saving battery. I came here to learn more about Fossil Gen 6; I admit I'm interested, but I've decided no more watches until Google and the watch manufacturers are clear on their upgrade paths to Wear OS 3. Until then, the Ticwatch is working well for me. Yes, their apps are wonky and Wear OS 2 Voice to Text is broken, but the rest of Google Assistant works for the most part. Thanks again for your effort, and I'll keep my eye on Fossil as the Wear OS 3 upgrade path becomes clearer. Be well, sir.
Sadly, Mobvoi hasn't updated their documentation or software in a long time, Ive moved on from The Ultra to a Samsung 5 Pro. Wear OS 3, great apps And battery. Ticwatch will update eventually, but it was time to move on. Good luck to All.
A question for anyone who reads this comment. I am struggling to decide between the TWP3 Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 4. I see that most reviewers do not talk in depth of the lack of features of the GW4 on non-samsung devices. I do not own a Samsung phone, hence I wanted the TWP3 Ultra, but support from Mobvoi is what worries me (I have read some horror stories on Reddit and comments sections) just in case that something happens with my watch. Just to point it out, I do not really need the BP and ECG features since I own a BP monitor at home. I just want an overall, well-rounded, smartwatch that will last a few years. To summarize, do you think that the GW4 is still worth on non-samsung devices (Considering everything that I mentioned before)? UPDATE: I ended up buying the GW4, I own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, works pretty much excellent, I have nothing to complain about. I usually charge my watch after waking up, and doing my morning daily routine before going out, that easily gets me through the day and night for sleep tracking. ECG and BP are the only two big features missing (and don't really need), fall detection is another one that is missing, but I have never tried to configure it. Overall, I am really satisfied with my purchase. Do I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY!
Being a person who used the original Galaxy Watch I really loved it. The best looking smartwatch in my opinion. I would really love to buy a second hand one now since I had to sell of my first one, so my question is that will it be worth buying the Galaxy watch in this time and age when there has been so many different upgraded models? My main usage would simply be receiving notification alerts, sending texts, and controlling my phone music with the added feature of having songs loaded in my built in storage of the watch. Would an old model like the original Galaxy watch be able to serve my purpose??? Mainly asking because I don't want to face any possible lag in my UI.
Ticwatch is a winner. Best all around in my opinion. Battery life is incredible. Functions are smooth. One thing Google needs to fix is calling and texting with voice. Just doesn't work.
I have older Ticwatch Pro 4G and I have to say my older Galaxy Watch was more accurate with sports. Much better to use. To me it seems Samsung wins in software and accuracy/reliability hands down. With Ticwatch I had some odd GPS errors were odd, like suddenly I had 1 km while reality only 400m. I bought Galaxy 4 44 mm LTE version. To me it seems most sensible. Price is not too high but you get lighter watch with biggest screen area. Its 44,5 mm screen actually without bezels same size as 46 mm with bezels.. Far as I understoid they are eventually all actually same size 40 mm is actually exactly same size as 42 mm, only the bezels make the difference there too.
Hey Mike. Luv ur vids man♥️ Query: If I use galaxy watch 4 on a non samsung mobile, would I miss out few functions which would have been available if I had a samsung mobile.
I would really enjoy if you open your smart watch review with going over the these functions of a smartwatch: text, email, phone call, use without phone nearby, durability. I’d also really love if you made mention to which watch will give you these functions the best and not have to spend money on things that might be less needed for some: health tracking, etc. Thank you for you time and hard work in making this, and other videos.
I was so waiting for your video a week back when I was to get one of the three. But never mind i went with fossil gen 6 cause I wanted a better looking watch. Happy to see you agree there ❤️
Hey Mike, how is the weight on these three watches? Assuming you don't have a big clunky band on it. I own the Galaxy Watch 4 and it feels pretty slim. I went to the store and saw the regular Galaxy watch classic and it seemed huge. How do the ticwatch and fossil compare?
go and watch the comparison of the three by "Chigz Tech Reviews". At Minute 5:45 he talkes exactly about that: Video title: TicWatch Pro 3 ULTRA vs Galaxy Watch 4 vs Fossil GEN 6 - Best WearOS Smartwatch 2021 - Which to Buy? have fun :)
Hey just got the watch 4 classic 46m, great watch but big downside is that you can't use the ECG on the watch if you have an Android phone like mine which is a OnePlus. Other than that great watch
Bought a galaxy watch 4 44mm and got to say its been great, obviously the battery is not brilliant but that compared to everything else it's a small price to pay. Keep up the good work
@@MikeOBrienMedia I think for savvy buyers, it's best to wait 18 months time when Fossil and other WearOS watches will get heavily reduced in price. And the WearOS 3 update would have landed by then, making it a good buy.
@@MikeOBrienMedia I am looking for a smartwatch that allows me to see photos sent on WhatsApp or normal photos taken with my Huawei P10 LITE. I also have a budget of € 120 and can go up to € 150. My two biggest questions are always battery life and waterproofing. The concern I have is that the Ticwatch apparently can't be worn in the shower??? What's up with that. I get that soap is their concern, but if I have to be careful when washing my hands I am giving up that security. Have you had any concerns about this?
Using it in the shower has less to do with water and more to do with steam. Steam can affect the sealant used to make it waterproof. I don't know the details but I've heard that's the logic behind it.
Mike I'm a big fan of your review videos! First thing, the light behind your left shoulder was driving me crazy. Second, $XXX format 😉. I have a watch4 classic silver, and both black and silver watch4s. I have being considering the Ticwatch for a while now because of battery life but until wireless charging capability is available I'll continue to wait. Thanks for putting together another awesome video!
In my opinion it would be easier to decide between the two because it depends largely on which ecosystem you use (ios or android). You can't use apple watch on Android and vice versa, so it seems pretty straightforward to me...
Love the review. I’m stuck between galaxy watch 4 classic and the new garmin epix. The best part is the epix works with iOS and android. If you have the garmin connect app on both devices, you can disconnect Bluetooth on one phone and just connect sync the data with the other phone. What are your thoughts on the garmin vs the Samsung
I ordered a bunch of different 20mm straps for my GW4 classic and 22mm ones for my Tic Watch Pro 3. I also got a few bezels for the GW4. Buy the bezel for the GW3 as they fit on the GW4. They are cheaper and are the same. Oh and did you forget to put the link for the leather strap for the GW4 ? I looked and didn't see it. I like how yours widens at the end like the stock rubber ones
Hi! I've been enjoying your videos so far! The reviews and all are very informative. Planning on buying a Samsung watch. But one thing I wanna know that's completely irrelevant is what's the title of your outro song?😅
Hey Mike. Just wanted to say, I'm really enjoying your videos! The main reason for that, is you state a favourite in your videos. A few more on RUclips often say "it's personal preference", but you're calling it out and really helping people like me out. Many thanks man!
I got a Galaxy Watch 4 44mm and changed to a regular silicone band without the fishtail extensions. It does not look perfect, but most things in life aren't.
Thanks for your advice I was planning to buy a smartwatch but was confused between Galaxy watch 4 and Fossil gen6 but know I know which one I should buy..
Samsung needs to give all features to all Android phones, allow the LTE for any carrier (Google Fi is not supported), and not require their own wear app on the phone. But I do own a Watch 4 Classic (non LTE) and it is a solid smartwatch. Also, I have heard that the LTE variant has an overheating issue for some people when doing active workout tracking.
I chose the samsung watch 4 over the classic as its the same spec, lighter (but still strong enough), has stronger glass than the classic and £100 cheaper. No brainer in my eyes. The stainless steal is a pointless advantage for me. I do like the fact that the rotating dial on the classic makes it look like full screen but its just too bulky and heavy in comparison.
Ye i agree with you. I mean the classic is like 52 or 56 grams, and the normal one is 30 grams. Thats a huge difference, and for me, I am in the gym a lot, a less bulkier and lighter watch makes all the sense in the world. But I guess it is personal preference in the end.
Right now the Galaxy Watch 4 is $50 off, I'm debating on whether I should just get it now, or wait til Black Friday to see if it goes down more. Is it likely to drop any more at all?
I waited too long for a android watch so I eventually settled for the tic Watch pro 3. I regret it a little bit because now I want that Samsung with android mixed with Tizon.. is it worth switching if I'm a Samsung ecosystem?
Well you do get the all the features of the TicWatch Pro 3. I have one myself I love it although I have a pixel 4a 5g and the compatibility is quite nice with stock Android. I've actually had the Galaxy watch 4 on pre order and tried it for a bit but gave it to my mom for compatibility reasons. So If you want compatibly with Samsung ecosystem, and want Tizen mixed with Wear OS. I would definitely consider the Galaxy watch 4. It's very seemless most of the apps are already on your Samsung device. I had to download everything when I was on my pixel. But when I gave it to mom, with her S21 it was practically automatic sync, no issues at all.
Wonder if the choice of not supporting Wear OS 3 on QC 3100 watches is technical or to push new hardware? I mean Wear OS could use some wider audiance to really gain traction as a competitor to A Watch. Not supporting not really that old watches could push people out of smart watches or towards Apple. Sure tech fans will rush out buy QC 4100 watches or the Samsung but that means that there's an older watch to give to someone not really thought of a smart watch but if that is left behind - it'll just end up getting recycled (or worse).
I think smart watches that are not so old should get the new update. I think it is wrong to sell these smart watches to people if you know very well it is not going to get the update in the future. People should complain about that.
@CGGS_Gaming And you didn't even glance at the basic specs. Take a watch like Fossil Carlyle HR which is not really that old and still being sold. It has the exact same amount of RAM and storage as all of the TicWatches that are rumored to get the Wear OS 3 update.
Got a fossil gen 6 coming tomorrow. I also have a gw4 for activities and general use. I live the gw4 and I am getting about 1.5 days battery which is more than enough for my usage. I just charge it in the morning wholeu coffee brews. I like having 2 watches so I can always pop one on if one is charging. I always wait at least a year after release to get them on the cheap. 🙂
The Ticwatch 3 will be my 2nd ticwatch; which, btw has shown to have blown the competition away with it's buttery smooth processor and hefty battery life! that said, Ticwatch is easily my fav!
Important inaccuracies. All three brands have third market suppliers. Software, accessories, prices, varieties, etc are much better than any OEM. Bands and watch protectors can be changed, according to use, clothing and appearance. Personally I prefer plastic cases, for low weight, better radio use, etc.. My Galaxy Watch 4 gives 50 hours, because of night mode, and indoor lifestyle. Outdoor use, with LTE, will naturally shorten battery life.
They all look much much worse then my 6 year old original Huawei Watch, which also still looks and feels new. I don't understand why they can't make this again, just bigger and with newer internals. Keep sapphire crystal OLED screen (it looks flawless even very up close), the Milanese band (I looove it) and the cold rolled steel with whatever coating this is (it is so strong, and still looks great, no big scratches, no chips, etc). I took this watch everywhere since launch day, even the beach, travelling, lakes, gyms, rock climbing, and more) How can I find an upgrade for it? is there anything like it out there? They all seem to have huge bezels.. and they're new. I don't care much about a fitness tracker. If I would want that, I'll just get a Fitbit. My gf's has like a 1 week battery life. My smartwatch has 1.5-2 days, and this is 6 yrs later.
He dident mention some important things, that the Google Assistent will come to the Galaxy Watch 4 aswell and that if you dont have a Samsung phone, you cant use ekg and blood pressure on the watch 4.
Great comparison, Mike! Have had GW4 (44mm) Silver, Bluetooth version now for 45+ days. Added a Ringke Silver Bezel, so it protects the screen, makes digital bezel easier to use, & looks closer to an analog watch. & swapped the band for 3rd party Amazon ones. Minor glitches, but fixed by updates. Overall, works great (with my S21U) & I'm enjoying it a lot!
The Galaxy Watch 4 does NOT charge on every QI charger. There are hundreds of comments and complaints (including mine) on Reddit that point out that only very specific charges work. Even Samsung's own pads can be temperamental.
I was lucky enough to buy the ticwatch 3 ultra for 195 euros a couple of days ago. I had the 3 pro but it stopped charging after 2 years. I've had a lot of smart watches throughout the years and the battery life was the deal-breaker for me since I don't want to charge my watch every single day. It's enough already doing that with my phone
just took my Galaxy watch 4 back ,,the ECG and BP will not work in the USA and I could not find out when it will,,,what a scam, and it also does not have google assistant,,,not a very smart watch,,I wish you would do a video about this,,Thanks love your vids
My issue with Fossil is that they rate the Gen 6 (and Gen 5) at 3ATM, while also saying you can swim with it (which would be 5ATM). I contacted them about it and they said "we developed our own tests and found that you can swim with it"; what the hell does that mean!?! I can swim on my back, kicking with my feet, and holding my arm out of the water, with any watch and call it swim proof; while an ATM rating is an ISO spec that is universally agreed apon. That being said ... Google really screwed this release up. Android is supposed to be open, not Samsung gets first dibs. If the Gen 6, and Tic Watch Pro meet the requirements, there should be no reason that you cant install Wear OS 3 on either right now. Mobvoi really screwed up by having such a cheap build quality in a "premium watch". And Samsung and Fossil both screwed up by having such crap battery life. A watch with a "classic" look like the Gen 6, but with the battery life, and waterproofing, of the Tic Watch, would absolutely destroy the market.
Uhh fiberglass reinforced nylon isn't "cheap quality", it's literally as strong as metal while being much lighter with higher corrosive and chemical resistance. Fossil is literally heavier while being smaller.
I wish we could get the samsung hardware (health sensors, rotating bezel, wireless charging, and overall build) with more battery and the second screen... without it being a Samsung in any way (restrictions on use for features and stupid skins over OS3). So frustrating having options that are SO close, but just not there.
@@shrimpgordita eh, they have a TON of thermal issues. At least, they used to. But, point taken. There doesn't seem to be anyone that produces a good Android phone that is snappy, has a color accurate screen, a decent camera, an external (not under the screen) finger print scanner, and a decent battery life. Oh, and being stable would be good too.
I ended up going for a hybrid watch based on Mike's review of the Garmin Vivomove range. Hybrids are great because you get the analytics of a smart watch, but the design of a classic watch. Battery life is much better as well, I get 4 days+ out of my Garmin Vivomove Luxe.
The ticwatch is not plastic body. Only the back is nylon not plastic. The body is stainless steel with reinforced nylon. Correct me if I am wrong. I just purchased one.
Tickwris RS cost 34 $ and the battery goes to 50 days. Under heavy usage (24h monitoring) about 12-14 days. IP68 water resistant and you can download or customise from scratch your own watch faces too. Does watches in this vidoe worth the 10x prices?
I have not been happy with my Fossil Gen 6. It does a decent job but text messaging and reminders do not work from Google Assistant. Apparently this is a Wear OS issue that doesn't only apply to Fossil. Picking up my Galaxy Watch 4 today. We'll see!
FYI ,ticwatch plastic material doesnt matter much. to me the glass and bezel material are more important aspect of durablity as both are the stand out parts of watch that most likely to take the hit from bumping on hard surfaces such as cement wall or corner of table, take for example, my garmin fenix 6 has sapphire crystal , stainless steel bezel and quality plastic casing and it has lasted almost 3 years without any visible scratch. plastic is lighter than stainless steel , so much more comfortable on wrist and as a sports tracking.
I have watched a couple of your reviews and it amazes me how you talk about everything else in depth and either do not mention battery life or gloss over it. Especially when it comes to the Galaxy watch 4. I am considering buying that watch and have listened to a couple of your reviews and you do not spend any time (or much time) on the battery life. Please when you review these watches spend more time on battery usage and how often charges are needed. As that is a critical factor in everyday use.
Hey thanks for your video and your honest opinion I like Samsung so I bought the galaxy watch 4 classic and returned it the battery was a disaster I kept me galaxy 46mm the battery is amazing now I just purchased the tic watch 3 and ultra and trying it out so far it's not so bad but I'm waiting on the galaxy watch 5 ultra to see it has to offer
The Skagen Falster 6 is the Fossil gen 6 in a different aesthetic, too, so it probably also belongs in this comparo (as an alternative variant of the Fossil, with the same strengths and weaknesses). I wish Fossil had made the stainless actually clear polished stainless, not this gray variation. The smaller one can be had polished, but with an 18 mm band which I don't like as much.
Ive had all the previous Galaxy watches, and had the og Tic watch...think I'm going with the Ticwatch this time...Have a pixel phone now just got rid of my Samsung s21 ultra....
I'm looking to give a smartwatch to my wife. So TicWatch self-eliminated from the contest since the start due to the lack of options (aesthetic variants are also important). I'll go with the galaxy watch 4, its very versatile, looks nice, and should be more comfortable while exercising and sleeping.
*UPDATES*
So which watch do you like best?? Is Fossil, Samsung, or TicWatch the best for Android users?
Also, I misspoke when I said the GW4 has Qi charging. It is wireless and is very similar to Qi but is technically Samsung's proprietary charging

Would you consider doing a apple watch 7 vs Samsung galaxy 4 video? I would absolutely love to watch it.
It's understated and it's amazingly comfortable to use with the bezel.
true! I have the same and with a metal chain strap and a classic analogue watch face, it goes well with formal wear and looks like a classy (dumb) watch
Having the rotating bezel and no black bezel around the display makes it so. I saw the fossil gen 6 but it has a huge black bezel which kind of breaks that look.
Broo in going to buy it tomorrow*cus i get paid * is there anything you dislike or like about it?
How's the battery life on it? Is it the larger or smaller case model? Such a classy-looking device!

I have been using my Fossil Gen 6 since September 28. I love it and recommend it to everyone who looks at it.
On the fossil you can text back? What about WhatsApp ?
@@jessetrevino9147 I am not a WhatsApp user, but it should be possible to add to apps on the watch through the Wear OS app on your phone.
A Galaxy Watch with the design of the Fossil and the graphical interface (the icons of the Fossil are too beautiful) and the autonomy of the Ticwatch Pro 🤩
Iam eating for Watch 5 come
I got the tic watch and it's been my favorite android wear/ wear os watch ever. A lot of that has to do with the essential mode preserving the battery and only needing to charge it every 3 days or so. I do wish Wear OS/google fit had native O2 sat/sleep monitoring because I'm not wild about Mobvoi's platform. But overall I'm happy with this.
Excellent! Just made the switch to an S21 Ultra from an iPhone 7 Plus thanks to you and others on RUclips. I'm loving it! The watch is next.
@iPeter note is coming next year as the s ultra
Out of the 4, I'd have to say the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic LTE, as I have been wearing it for 6 weeks and quite frankly, it's great.
Bought it this week. Its great but the BIA is bad I would use it twice in a row and get a 2% fat loss. Any idea how to fix this?
How's the battery life? I'm concerned that between all the different models (especially LTE) the battery life may take a massive hit.
Had my Galaxy watch 4 classic LTE for about a month. I'm loving it so far, but do miss the Tizen circular lock screen.
I have ever the watch 3 and its excellent
@@cellofellow5115 battery life could be better. I think I could get 24 out of it.
certain smartwatches tend to get outdated super fast within 2 to 3 years. so choose wisely, if charging daily is not your cup of tea , you will eventually hate your new flashy smartwatch in a matter of months. smart watches that require daily or every alternate day charging will make one feels like they have two devices , i.e. the phone and smart watch that need constant attention to ensure they dont end up running out of juice. better invest in a watch with battery lasting for at least 5 days or even longer to save you from the battery anxiety.
but they still last at least a day and u can charge them once u get home
The frustrating thing about the battery life on a lot of smart watches, to me, is that they advertise sleep tracking and everything. When am I going to have the battery to use the sleep tracking, at the end of the day?
@@Firstfalconfree i chuckled a little
I'm leaning towards the TicWatch at this point, the battery is the biggest issue with my current, ancient smartwatch and I do sometimes go off the grid for a week at a time where it would be nice to still have some tracking and the time.
I can't go back until fossil utilizes the screen and gets better battery life
Have you Been charging overnight?
The battery life makes it so there is only one actual choice
Went with the Fossil Gen 6, couldn't be happier, my brother has the Tic watch, he's also extremely satisfied!
But I preferred the Fossils look!

@Fizzybeard I've actually switched to the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
@@bigshockka2363 would you still recommend the gw4? I'm a. It scared about the battery but it looks and feels better then the ticwatch
@Fizzybeard Ticwatch battery is gonna be better. GW4C battery was super inconsistent. I've owned a Ticwatch B4. Batteries are beast.
@@bigshockka2363 yea I know that but if I get over a day without fearing the gw4 shuts down I'm fine aswell
I'm very ok with Google Fit, it's nice to have everything in one place. My Fossil Sport is not holding up though. Thoughts on Whoop?
Overall it did work well, but 2 major issues for me:
1) Gmail notifications are completely broken right now, as confirmed by several others. This is a huge issue for me as it's one of the primary reasons I have a smartwatch.
2) The fanciest sensors like the ECG requires a Samsung phone
Given those issues I tried the Fossil Gen6.
Like many, i'm also trying to decide between these 3. Ticwatch seems the right watch for only 250 with discount.
Love the minimalist look of the Galaxy watch 4. Would definitely go with that one
What most tech reviewers don't mention when doing these comparisons is Samsung's trade in programs, you have the option of trading up the new watch,if that's your preference
It is available in fossil too
They offered 50 bucks for my old watch. 🙄
Got the Fossil, looked how I wanted! The battery isn't great, but I run with my preferred settings
so it could be much longer, but it charges very quickly!
Perfectly happy with my decision. I got it for cheap!
And yes I've already updated to WearOS 3.
🙂
Awesome video man, love your reviews!
Thank you for all the reviews on these 4 watches!
I think I'll take Galaxy 4 Classic.
ABSOLUTELY!
Good question. Somehow most reviewers miss this point.
Mike...do you think you could make a holiday gift guide? My husband likes all the products you talk about but I have no idea what to buy him
I have been thinking about making one of those. Maybe I will this year!
Hey Mike. Luv ur vids man♥️
Query: If I use galaxy watch 4 on a non samsung mobile, would I miss out few functions which would have been available if I had a samsung mobile.

My two biggest questions are always battery life and waterproofing. The concern I have is that the Ticwatch apparently can't be worn in the shower??? What's up with that. I get that soap is their concern, but if I have to be careful when washing my hands I am giving up that security. Have you had any concerns about this?

@@trav4550 so they all suck??? Haha shoot...
@@LukasTheBlue yeah mate, still deciding if to get a replacement or money back, wasn't really impressed with it
Using it in the shower has less to do with water and more to do with steam. Steam can affect the sealant used to make it waterproof. I don't know the details but I've heard that's the logic behind it.
My ticwatch 3 pro list HR measuring and empty battery icon on decrease even when fully charged, avoid them. Never a ticwatch again.
Mike I'm a big fan of your review videos! First thing, the light behind your left shoulder was driving me crazy. Second, $XXX format 😉. Same here on the green screen, mildly distracting.
Just got the galaxy watch 4. Love your videos they are very informative.
Please make a comparison between the Galaxy Watch4 and the Apple Watch series 7

I do like the galaxy watch 4 looking to buy it to go with my Note 20 Ultra do you recommend that over the other two watches you reviewed.
What is the best android smartwacth with a squared screen? Yep, I'd like to see more content.
Great video. Any chance of a link to where you got the after-market bands? TIA
I have the Galaxy 4. I have a Galaxy S21 Ultra phone, so it was a no brainer. I came from the Galaxy Active 2 watch, which I loved.
Right now the Galaxy Watch 4 is $50 off, I'm debating on whether I should just get it now, or wait til Black Friday to see if it goes down more. Is it likely to drop any more at all?
Get it now, you can always return it if it gets cheaper. At least, that's what I'm doing
TWP3 will be getting the Wear OS 3 upgrade some time in 2022
Wonder if the choice of not supporting Wear OS 3 on QC 3100 watches is technical or to push new hardware?
Reviews of people complaining about water-resistants have me worried about ordering! people are saying it will die in small amounts of water
Wait, I can't use Google assistant with the galaxy watch?
Yes, GA is available now for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
I took this watch everywhere since launch day, even the beach, travelling, lakes, gyms, rock climbing, and more)
How can I find an upgrade for it? is there anything like it out there? They all seem to have huge bezels.. and they're new.
I don't care much about a fitness tracker. If I would want that, I'll just get a Fitbit. My gf's has like a 1 week battery life. My smartwatch has 1.5-2 days, and this is 6 yrs later.
I love gadgets just like anyone but no one needs this much info about their day. Buy the watch that you can afford and that looks good on your hand
He dident mention some important things, that the Google Assistent will come to the Galaxy Watch 4 aswell and that if you dont have a Samsung phone, you cant use ekg and blood pressure on the watch 4.
You can get these only if you have a Samsung phone, not with other android phones.
I got the Ticwatch Pro Ultra. I am 100% satisfied.
It's enough already doing that with my phone
just took my Galaxy watch 4 back ,,the ECG and BP will not work in the
USA and I could not find out when it will,,,what a scam, and it also
does not have google assistant,,,not a very smart watch,,I wish you would do a video about this,,Thanks love your vids
Great video man! Which has a brighter Always on Display? Fossil or Galaxy?
I wish we could get the samsung hardware (health sensors, rotating bezel, wireless charging, and overall build) with more battery and the second screen... without it being a Samsung in any way (restrictions on use for features and stupid skins over OS3). So frustrating having options that are SO close, but just not there.
True of phones too. Samsung makes the best hardware, but you have to deal with their constant tug of war with Google.
Got a broken fossil Gen 5, last for 2 years, so I take the fossil Gen 6 when the price comes a bit down in DK😀
Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the plastic on the Ticwatch
Mike or ANYONE, I have the 46MM classic and 20MM normal watch band it works and looks just fine. I dont know what you are talking about!
Hi, great chanel ! I want to buy Ticwacth Pro Ultra, can you tell me please if the compass app it's still present ? Thanks 🙏
The Galaxy watch is just wildly inaccurate! You’d be better off getting a 10 dollar Casio
Literally watched this video on my Galaxy watch 4 using Samsung browser
