  • Two years ago, authorities in northern Minnesota seized more than 40 dogs from a hoarder. The dogs had been kept indoors, isolated from human contact other than then food was tossed from the doorway onto the floor for them to fight over.
Many of the dogs were aggressive and had to be put down. Others were sent to the Animal Humane Society. If they were social enough, they were placed on the adoption floor. But some were very fearful, and needed more rehabilitation before they could be adopted out. Those were sent to rescues for placement in foster homes.
Five of the dogs looked like they might have had some Golden Retriever in them, so they were sent to Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota (RAGOM).
Today, we had a dog party with three of the dogs from the hoarding situation--Rose, Heather, and my little guy Pippin. This video shows just how far a fearful dog can come with patience, training and lots of love. Rose was adopted by her foster family, and now she and her adoptive sister Macy are inseparable.
