Killer Tombstones, Pt 2 Distressing
Can’t believe this is still here kudos to
I hope by now you’ve upgraded to an acrylic router mount/housing ☺️
The Touchstone Home Video promo from 1990 brought me here!
That Traffic noise is too Scary for me...I would go nuts there
Very cool, realistic tombstones. I love the funny puns. Very impressive
Brilliant tip! I have happen to have a Karcher steam cleaner (the best)! Even if you cut in with a brush, you still have to scrape and clean the panes to complete the job. Now, thanks to your incredible ingenuity, I don’t have to cut in at all. Thank you VERY MUCH.
This is literally so amazing! i'm definitely going to be using these ideas for some props for a photoshoot <3 thank you so much!
Easy question “if” you see this. What is the router bit you use? I can’t figure out how to get a smooth carve!
Hello! I continue to refer to your tutorials even after all this time! Do you have a list of the epitaphs you’ve created for your advertising icons cemetery? Pictures would be great too!
I always wondered how to make the tombstones look broken and weathered. Thanks so much for the video. Much more simple than I thought.
Or, Just take a little Acetone on a small brush and it eats the Styrofoam for a more natural look instead of hours carving... Work smart not hard..
You guys rock most severely ! Thank you !
Requiascat In Pacem , Commodore Bol - Man : '(
I like this. There’s been a chicken killing dog coming around here. Thanks
does anyone know if the 1/8th inch Dremel bit is the smallest you can use? can you use anything smaller to do very small/fine areas and details? somet tombstones have the fancy writing with the curves and cursive sort of thing going on-
I used a tiny drill bit in my dremel. Squeaks a little but great detail.
I have a number of Halloween Store, Wallmart halloween tombstones in which I have covered with 2 coats of drylok, and the majority of these have their signature raised designs. Because of their uneven surface I don't know if I could effectively utilize a roller as you do in your video. I have seen some videos use spray paints and then wash some of the paint off with a hose and other videos brush on paint and than wipe off the excess. Any thoughts on which might be the most effective.
Out of curiosity what colors did you use on the Oscar Mayer tombstone?
I can't remember the exact color names, but we used two shades of grey for the base color (one shade a touch bluer than the other). Then we dabbed on various shades of green for a mossy effect. We did another video on painting that shows you how to blend the colors. Look for Killer Tombstones, Pt 3.
@@DevonTT Thanks my tombstones are covered with dark grey drylok so I like your idea of using a blue color as a contrast.
Thank you so much for this! I did a few tombstones last year and had a friend who is a skilled wood carver do the lettering, however she will not be available to help this year and I have been trying to figure out a way to do this and make it look good. Thank you again!
I could definitely love this guy.. I would definitely love to train him for a stability service dog and also autism sensory. I wonder if his temperament is qualified enough? Is he great with people an small dogs an children? Is he house broken? My question is how old is he? I am looking for 15 months old at least not over 3 years old. As at 8 years old I usually have to retire my dogs. It's the right thing to do.
I’m a total Golden fanatic (I have two), and this guy stole my heart. ❤️❤️ I reckon he’s gone to the Rainbow Bridge now, as this video is quite old. I hope his remaining years were full of joy and lots of love.
not professional. Use liquid mask paint smh
Hi, do you ever use a soldering iron for your letters or do you just prefer the dremmel? Thank you
I've never tried a soldering iron, but it seems like it would be messy and not very precise.
Devon TT yes, I just made my first tombstone. It wasn’t messy but the noxious fumes were bad. It wasn’t that precise for me but maybe I need practice. The iron was awesome for the cracks in the stone though! Thank you for your reply
One thing that made me laugh was when you mentioned bringing them in every night. Ive never had to worry about that where I live but I suppose its always a possibility. Ive seen yard vandals on youtube, and reminds me of the people that were vandalizing all the Trump signs before the election across the country...vandals suck.
Love these!! Those are some funny and clever.
Anyone know how these hold up in the rain?
Use latex paint and allow it to cure for a couple of days before you put the tombstones out. Exterior paint is best, but we have used interior latex with no problem at all. It holds up well in rain and snow.
Hello! Thank you for your videos! You both do amazing work! Where did you find the split rolling handle tool?
It was included in a faux texturing kit that I bought. Google "faux finish paint roller" and "woolie". You may still be able to find it and purchase it separately.
I’m not finding any with the two separate rollers on one roller handled tool. I only am finding where it’s a custom one piece roller with a gap in middle. I like yours where you can use whatever rollers you’d like. Would you let me know if this would work? The Woolie Dual 2-Color Split Roller Starter Kit - Faux Finish Sheepskin Painting Ro... www.amazon.com/dp/B00CGKOPEE/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_pssQBbR00AN66
They must have changed the design. But yes, that would work. Just get different tones on each roller.
There's also this one, but the rollers seem a bit far away for working on tombstones. www.zoro.com/wooster-dual-mini-paint-roller-frame-r212/i/G5126904/
Great great great
Or just stick it on and dremmel straight through the paper?
excellent!!! loved the series
Awesome!!!! Thanks for making this video!!!!
Hello! Can you tell me if you watered down the paint to get it to flow through the airbrush? And if so, about what ratio of paint to water? Thanks so much!
Yes, you do have to water it down. I don't have a ratio for you, though. The sprayer came with a plastic dipper stick and instructions on how to know if the paint is thin enough for the sprayer based on how it drips off the stick. If you don't have that, look for a video by Wagner on how to dilute paint for a paint sprayer.
WOW!!!! You two are great!!!
"Mikey" "Get Mikey to try it... he hates everything!" (Cereal) OMG... that is tooo cute... (man do I feel old!) lol
Great video/tutorial Thank you for sharing
Thank you for the video!
greg, used your design and built my own. great job.
Did they catch the Border Collie?
No, they found out that it was a neighbor's dog and asked them to keep the dog home safe.
excellent info...thank you. need to try some of this
Wrong 😯
Cute omg
Good technique. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I will give it a try.
Do you put any kind of top coat or sealant after the painting is done to protect the paint job?
You don't need anything as long as you let the latex paint cure for a few days before putting out your tombstones. It takes 30 days for latex paint to fully cure, but we've never had any problem with the elements as long as the paint has had a few days to dry.
Great work! Are you guys theatrically trained at all? I seem to sense a kindred spirit... I usually make a couple new ones each year, I'm up to 10. From my work at a scene shop I got a huge load of 2" and 4" white beadboard [expanded polystyrene] Pink foam [used to be blue]-or extruded polystyrene is no longer legal in California that I know of, too bad because the fine texture is so much nicer to use. White or regular Gorilla glue lets me lay up layers or add bits and bobs for extra dimension too. I LOVE your lettering, something i've never tried- mine just lurk in the background semi worn away to anonymity. Getting psyched for this year at Foreboding Way [on Facebook]. Cheers! Or should I say, Fears!!
Funny you should mention that! Mike has been involved in theater for many years, but usually as an actor. He has probably been roped into helping with set pieces, though, as he is an artist by trade.
The much better way is to just use a 6 inch joint knife as a paint guard as you paint. Very little cleanup to do afterwards, and can be accomplished with just a utility razor blade.
cool
Dwarf Golden? He looks cool.
Your house is adorable! Wish I lived there so I could bring my nephews and nieces by. The 'Little Caesar" tombstone? BRILLIANT.
these are awesome, Im going to try. Don't think I'll do as well.
Great Job I do a Halloween night for special needs persons as I have 3 boy and 2 of them are autistic. Be doing this for about 10 years or so and although my tomb stone are made of wood now I can still do trhis and add to it with some of yours. Please look at our page on Facebook under T he Liik's family Nightmare before Christmas and like our page if you can and you'll see some of your tips this up coming year thanks Jim LIIk AKA JACK Skellington.
My gosh, this is wonderful! I have to build a tombstone for Ebeneezer Scrooge, and I'm going to try your technique from start to finish, thank you so much!
