The Volkswagen Beetle is a stylish hatchback that mixes modern mechanical parts with a look inspired by the big-selling original from the sixties. It's only offered as a three-door model and comes in standard, Design and top-spec Sport trims. There are two petrol engines available -- a 1.2-litre turbo and a 1.4-litre with turbo and supercharger. The Beetle shares its mechanical components with the Volkswagen Golf hatchback, but has a more flamboyant look. Авто/Мото
AYE!!! THE CARWOW GUY! Looking young there buddy.
Did buy the beetle?
You mean Matt Watson

🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥
The smaller amount of head and leg room in the backseat isn't a problem if you're like under 5'10" or so.
Sarah D. I’m 5-11 and I fit just fine in the Beetle, has plenty of room inside.
I’m 6’ 2” and there’s p-l-e-n-t-y of room. I have no complaint at all.
I'm only 5" tall. I love driving the 2019... I had a 1977 semi-automatic when I was in college..
@@GTO20122012 I meant the backseat
@@larssmith404 My brother is the same height and is not comfortable in the backseat. It's definitely tight back there!
Mat hasn't changed much. Always had an engaging presentation style.
I bought one a Beetle Design and love it. It's fun to drive and handles as well. It certainly turns heads. There was a recall with regards to a window wind fault and I had the lights adjusted as they appeared to be too high and over to the right. The Fender system is something to die for and the Bluetooth is definitely a must have. I do not notice any wind noise and find it smooth and quiet. Average fuel consumption driving it sort of hurriedly is around 38mpg. Not cheap inside as suggested.
It's a lovely car! I wish they kept on producing them.
These review are so unique, i just watch them for fun.
This is my dream car, I'm 28 and have my test booked soon, the only thing that I'm apprehensive about is if I were to have children in the car, I'd love to know people's experiences with car seats.
You pass that test and get that Beetle yet Kelly?

I agree with you there, to be honest some people dislike cars that are unique and cool and prefer cars that are really generic and boring like Golfs and the Ford Focus
I like the interior to my 2015 beetle especially with the red band matching the exterior colour, and it looks really cool in red with the retro alloys setting it off nicely. Personally I think it's really fun to drive very cumfertable fantastic interior a lot better than the old noddy bubble car version of it that was a girls car, this one on the other hand is more sportier very original you can see the old retro beetle in it it with a new twist mixed in. One thing that I do disagree with the bloke is that there isn't any wind noise coming into the cabin at the speed he mentioned to be honest there's hardly any noise coming in just a really nice smooth ride.
I just test drove this today. It is so damn fun to drive!
Am I the only one who wishes more car manufacturers would bring back retro designs and things like the flat dashboards
I love your shirt in this video! :P
But don't button all the way up
Just got my deep black pearl 1.2 delivered, in some design trim with better looking alloys that that. Comes extremely well equipped for a daily driving monster. Small, eco engine but the punch it gets and the roar amazes me. Driving it and looking at the interior is the best part. I cant really compare this to any other cars, maybe the mini, as its those unique, novelty kind cars.
it was part of the fun of getting to mexico city some years ago to ride on one, sadly there are no more of those anymore
my dream car..
emir akbar mine too :)
emir akbar I've just ordered one of these in pure white 1.4 tsi design..takes up to 5 months for delivery because it needs to be built in Mexico.

I sat in one of these but I just couldn't believe the awful interior quality of this car.
That was simply unbearable and unjustifiable for a car that costs 3 million+ yen ( about USD30,000), no matter how iconic the VW beetle is.
I have no idea why VW didn't do the same nice job to this car as their Audis or other VW brothers which are known to have one of the highest quality interiors in the industry.
I really like this new Beetle. It definitely looks a lot more masculine than the last one.
finally matt puts a nice review. everything mentionned and good points. much better than rebecca crap reviews
3:56 the car in the background going by at first I thought it was a shiny effect they added in when it stopped! haha
For all you people who ask why isn't the engine in the back, the reason is because if the new VW Beetle has Rear engine, Rear wheel drive would be too similar to a Porsche 911, and that would severely hurt Porsche Boxster and Cayman sales, the Boxster and Cayman are considered the "Poor man's 911", but with a Rear Engine Rear Drive VW Beetle, more and more people would buy that instead, since it is very similar to a 911 and cost 1/3 the price.
Matt, what type of cars do you like better? DSG, automatic or manual?
Interesting. Here in Australia, there is only one engine; 1.4L 118TSI Twincharger. And the colour coded interior is standard. They're a lot of fun to drive.
i always watch your review, because of hour funny way of infroducng cafs, keep it !
Still cool, I have a 1966 one, still rocking at 50 years old 😎
The only thing I like about that car is the mood lighting :/
try a mini cooper the mood lighting in theres is way better and brighter
Then you are an idiot. The whole car is very cool.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 no not really...
@@Whiponized Yeah really.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 nah are you gay? Not an insult just a question
Mat, what watch do you use in this review ?
They should bring the 1.2 TSI to the U.S. VW lineup in both the Golf & Beetle (and maybe the Jetta) since they don't have the TDI models here. Both the 1.2 TSI & 2.0 TDI get similar gas mileage.
There was a car, which had gap between back seats - Matt reviewed it but I can't find it now. Someone remeber it?
Is it really safe to have the elasticated straps on the door? If a smaller bottle were to slip out it could end up under a pedal
Great review
I have a 2005, 2.0 litre beetle convertible, bit old but fun
This car has its charm and style. I don't deny that it has its fans as well as a cult following.
But because it has problems for even practical usage, it's hard to suggest.
Great review. I hate it when the reviewer get too picky, " at 658 rpm, there seems to be a slight turbo lag".. you didn't do that, awsome. my review of your review, two thumbs up.
I really really want this car! I have a sudden love at first sight of this. I don't know why, but it attracts me so much :3. But in where I live including all the tax, the price is $60,000 and trust me it'd go a little more than that. So...worth the money?
They should have made the dash glovebox open downwards so it can be used as a small table surface like you can in my 67' beetle.
Beetle never fail to attract attention
No sunflower vase or vase holder?
Wait, VW invented the DAB?
VW Beetle the best car in the world. I love Beetle very much.
Mat has gone insane eversince he started his own channel
I understand that VW wants to keep the Beetle name alive. But when that meant making a more odd-looking Golf with less practicality, then I can't see the point.
Come on VW, at least make it rear-engine like the original Beetle!
Because of the color. You get it in black and it is niiiiice. Really classy I think.
i lived in mexico city and i remember flying in and seeing hundreds of green and white taxis.
Exactly, since boot is so small now, it wouldn't matter if engine was in the back and boot in the front :)
That's one fine-looking car.
Great review, thx. Do you guys ever have a sunny day over there? how depressing.
No, we never have a sunny day and it is very depressing. Most people end up jumping off bridges.
I love the interior.
1:49...
Loved that air guitar solo..
It's awesome
Why does he complain that one must upgrade to get the colour coded interior trim (which you want) but then complain in the Up! video that the colour coded exposed metal interior trim (which is obviously standard) is dated looking?
Thanks for sharing.
i see that elastic band on the door sagging in about a year
You could pop up in a mood ring, rock a stack perm, roll a doobie and crash the stock market. Or, for a faster 70s vibe fix, you could just purchase the Beetle. Some fashions are timeless.
Matt, please do air guitar riffs in all subsequent reviews. Thank you. Sincerely, your entire audience.
great rims!
fender speakers i'm impressed.
lovely car, it's so cute!
This car reminds me of Mr Bean
i want that car when i grow up :)
1:47
I never knew Matt plays air guitar 😂
I think this car is mainly aimed at the US market which explains the cheap interior and rear suspension.
moving swiftly on...
I love my beetle.... I got a golf as a courtesy car, the golf felt tinny and unsafe..
Why did not Rebeca review this car?
"Knicker elastic" HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
MAT please do all the reviews on your own.
It technically could be, but you would have to have driven one of the original models because they became cool and cutesy back when the New Beetle (the old new one) came out. :P
I want this car
4:22 made my day
I have to watch this video in mirror mode to match my country... :-D
Mat Watson is now in the Carwow channel
I like the rims :)
1:49 i realy wasn´t expecting that...
Review the alfa romeo mito!
Great idea, Ferrari 458 Spider review, combo review with Mat and Rebecca, make it happen.
Mat. A car. Air guitar. Enough said. The best.
Look cool....
I don't understand why several people mention that's is a Hitler's car. I thing it's a little stupid to make that observation. Of course that the first design was made when Germany is under the lidership of Hitler its a fact. But the VW Group was completed recoverd by the British government after the 2nd War when they are broken down and remains to the present day because of this help from the British. My grandfather has one in the past from the 70's and I missed that car so much until nowadays. I like more a lot this model of to 2012 until 2017 than the model of 2002 don't reminds me the older Beatles. Unfortunately I don't have money to buy it in the present day's and I feel a little sad about it. It would be a tremendous pleaser if I could have one opportunity to show one of this for real and only mine to my grandfather. This is my history with this brilliant car of VW. Cheers for all.
I wasnt talking about practicality and what you say is wrong. There is more head and knee room in 2 door Golf.
Dream car
Ok new car new features but still can't beat the old beetle never forever😎
ghalibabubaker88 Abubaker wish the company renew the classic beetle with new engine and electric stuff and comfortable chairs
Matt Watson is just the best
Could not agree more
They say the new beetle is very similar to the original beetle I don't see how it is
i like it
i love this car i'm only 13! but i would total buy this car if i was 17!! ( i would prefer it in blaxk though!
As Arnold would say, "GIIIRLY MAAAAAAN CAAAAA!!!!" lol
can you do a review of the old beetle, want one of those :)
Dam mat Watson from car wow looks so young there
4:22 :DD made my day
I think it's be alot better if Rebecca reviews such car and you review ones like the Passat CC and the Audi TT, instead you had it the other way round which doesn't make sense
The classic Beetle uses the windshield for an airbag and your legs as crumple zone.
Wow, I actually like it. Much better than the horrid old one!
I think it should have rear windshield wipers.
do you think it's ok for long distances
Milla G. Yep, I have a 13 year old one and drove from Scotland to England in it and back and was fine
Scotland to England is a long distance? Funny how perspectives change when you live on an island
Hamsaphina yes It is long distance
OMG I LOVE THE GOLF MK3 VR6 ON MINUTE 2:34 :3
Wonderful car :)
Where are the racy dials exactly? Because all I see is a hard dash that would be severely criticisized as "cheap and nasty" in other brand cars.
pause the video @ 2:32 Golf 3 VR6 sexiest ,loudest and fastest golf of all time.
i think that VW is really stepping their game up. all of their newer cars are looking great. i wouldnt ever think about driving the older beetle because it looked so girly. they made it a lot more masculine
