Few things to keep in mind, Only dash in if you know you can kill someone so it resets, or you are behind them and you dash through them into your team When you ult your dash resets so if you dash right before you ult you get a little bit more damage and it can help you eat on the point faster Don't stop jumping and wall climbing too often and try get good at swift striking from target to target so your dragon add goes more smoothly
1997 Honda civic probably same with me, i did my placements way back in season 3 and pretty much threw them cuz i was so forward to play comp with my friends. next thing you know i had 1500 sr. i left over watch for one and a half years and when i finally came back to it last season i got placed in silver. it’s such a struggle to get out of silver. but on my alt acc i’m in plat
Pro tips from me ( I'm a good Genji on a PS4): 1.Use your secondary (alternate) fire more than you primary one. (Use L2 more than R2). It does the same amount of damage and is easier to hit. 2.Dragonblade from the back , so that you surprise your enemies and get at least one kill. As long as you do , you're good to go. 3.Use Swift Strike to finish your enemies (Can't be deflected,blocked,dodged,etc.). Also if you get the kill its Cooldown will reset. 4.Use your mobility to your advantage. 5.DON'T play Genji on Defense , accept if you haven't mastered him. Learn Junkrat, Torjorn or Bastion for Defense. 6.Practise ALL of these tips at Quick play. That's it.
I am a master with 70 hours on genji, the thing you should do is try and snap on enemies and practice combos and positioning is very important try to dive with your team and if they don't flank the supports just make sure you can kill them but as i said your combos are needed because all supports are 200hp so kill them and then escape with dash or continue
Am a trash genji but am determined to become a good genji am currently low gold which some people say gold players have a lack of brain cells but it's hard and am slowly getting the hang of him but am going to use this hopefully get better
Another good practice ground for getting good at Genji is playing against AI in a private skirmish on Temple of Anubis second capture point. You make all the enemy team be Lucios so that you can practice fighting against really fast and flighty targets while making use of various different terrain heights and environment types as they are also healing and buffing each other with the occasional surprise Sound Barrier to counter your damage so that you have to constantly have contingencies.
Watching others and pros playing a certain hero helps you learn so much. Also for console once you got your basic playstyle down, try playing with 0 aim smoothing and using the aim technique linear ramp. It will make you play/think faster and you'll become sharper the more you play with these settings. I play with these settings with a 70, 70 sensitivity, 80 aim assist and 55 aim assist window size
I got Overwatch yesterday, and I’ve been finding Genji really fun to play. I think that learning to play him is difficult makes him a really fun hero to play.
I have watched video before, but just wanted to check it out again. As of now Genji is my most played hero on 40 hours, and about 37 of them are from straight up quick play. I used to play him because i thought his character was cool (even though i was absolute garbage at him), once i died in a stupid way i would just switch to a different and easier hero. I always wanted to become a very good Genji, but i played tank almost every comp game. I have had a little break from overwatch, so when i came back i grinded a bit of Genji, played some comp to get points, bought the golden gun and now im an absolute beast. Well... maybe not a beast but i would approve myself as a useful Genji at least. This comment is getting way to long, im bored af, but if you actually read this entire comment, you are an absolute bloody legend
I'm a Genji main playing on PS5. I prefer console over PC although I have a beast of a PC. To play genji, I would go into practice range and shoot you shurikens and make up scenarios where you are jumping and throwing shurikens at the same time. If you master that like I did, you're gonna get better because by jumping, it makes it a bit harder for the enemy to hit you. It also makes it harder to aim but if you can get your aim good while jumping, its gonna help you a lot.
i am a genji main...one good tip is to melee more..dash when they are low..good map knowledge..and u have to know when to dash in and dash out..and also know where the health packs are.
As a genji main something I noticed is hat having a higher sensitivity is better for mechanical purposes, such as the combos, and ghost dashing for example. If you think that the higher sensitivity is hard to handle, try to practice with linear ramp instead of dual-zone, for example. This worked for me and I hope it works for you, it’s not for everybody, but it is something that I thought I would announce
TheBroBroadcast Maybe increase sensitivity? Your sensitivity on Genji is too low, depends on if you're fighting fast movement characters like fighting Tracer, Genji, etc but if you're fighting a slow movement characters like supports, tanks and stuff low sensitivity is fine, higher sensitivity is the better one overall.
TheBroBroadcast You do, practice makes perfect but you've got alot of the core skills down. I could point out some things that seem really minor but really screwed you over or at least could have. One thing i noticed is that at 1:43 you were throwing shurikens in a duel when the Genji wasn't on your screen, that screwed you a few seconds later when you had a clear shot but had to reload. You did manage to redeem it by using swift strike but that was due to a misplay on their part by engaging an enemy with less than 50 health and not securing the kill on you
My main is genji and to play genji you have to constantly wall climb and use the map to your advantage and only dash when your confirming the kill because your dash automatically resets and amazing video
I'm a Junkrat main and all my life wanted to main Genji- adore his design and everything but just could never play- seemed so hard to play; but this video definitely gonna help me become bit better..
What about the button layout? Do you change anything? Usually the layout feelsa clunky for so e characters like Lucio and pharah but wondering about genji so it can be easier tro press certrain abilities easier for easier combos and sucb
Most people get better at something with practice but I seem to follow the opposite when it comes to Genji. I was really good with him when I first started using him and I've slowly gotten worse somehow.
Hanzo and Genji should have an eldest sibling, an older sister. She should have a true dodge mechanic that evades damage, and some for of wall running or jump enhancement. Ultimate is a two handed sword sword strike on a single target for an instant kill⚔️
AAbib 14011 don't try it if u have control freaks you can but oml it messed with my genji so bad the dragon blade is fantastic for that but it's so fast even at 98
I don't remember if you mentioned this but if your swift strike is on cooldown and you get a kill even an assist would work but if you get on and it's on cooldown you get it back immediately ;3
hey bro i just wanted to give you a tip for genj,i u want to save your dash to get out of trouble you dont want to go into a fight with dash unless you can get another kill to refresh your attack
Also junkrat may have hard to deflect projectiles but is limited at long and in my opinion short range so I always swift strike him three stars to the head dead
On ps4 I advise to put the jump button to L3, because that button isn’t really anything from before. The reason I advise this, is because when you move your thumb form the right analog stick to press the jump button, you won’t be able to move your sight or aim while jumping.
I also struggled with dragonblade and I seemed to lose the targets I dashed at. Something I did to stop this were always dash into the air and land with your sword out on a target and jump or double jump. This helps you keep track of your enemies and your own team as well as when to back out. Also, don't use Genji's ult when ur team isn't with you. Genji's ult in an initiation ult that has a team wipe potential, not a "I'll 1v3 because I have my ult" Hope this helps and have great day Mada Mada
Not tryna bash you here or anything but I don’t want bad info to be used. When you blade, if you strand yourself without a dash and can’t kill someone nearby, you’re dead. If you’re losing your targets, you need to save your dash until they use their escape ability, then pursue them with your dash to finish them off. You also want to damage them with your dash every time. The proper way is to dash through your target, then swing while turning around to cut them in the back and swing again to kill/reset the dash cooldown. You also reset your dash when you ult, so another good method is to dash behind the enemy, then pull out your sword, then hack away and you’ll have your dash ready for if they try to escape
To really master Genji I think I have a few good tips. Never be in the same place for too long, even when you're jumping around in that area when in an active fight, you need to do what I call "in-combat flanking" or "active flanking". Stay a reasonable distance away from them and be constantly trying to get around them, but not just with normal strafing. Jump over them, dash through & around them, use your double jump to your advantage. It allows you to change direction in mid-air so use that, jump in one direction and then use your 2nd jump to go in another. And wall climbing is useful for more than just escape and traversal it can make you a harder target and allow you to get a good angle for attack, but don't use it as soon as you're next to a wall. And when engaging an enemy watch other enemies, if they can be taken out with your dash then use that, it can cause the enemy to think you've stopped attacking them or they get confused for a second or two. With Genji the key is to be unpredictable. Never flank from the same direction, utilize all directions, engage & disengage, poke from a distance or force up close, and sometimes the predictable can be the unpredictable. As Genji you are your own distraction, you move through the area firing shuriken from seemingly all directions wearing your enemies down, and by the time they look up you're already behind them up close and ready to deliver the final blow. Hope this helps. 😁(sorry if I got a little too into this 😅)
i played honzo then tried to play widow but thought people would hate that I play that character. i eventually got used to it but ill never forget those first games.
Underwatch Yeah, when multiple people are shooting you when you deflect, you should target a low health hero, to kill them or to lower their health enough so that you can dash and kill them. Aiming at a tank when you deflect won't do much, it might lower their health, but you won't be able to kill them straight away. Aiming at a support character like Mercy is a priority when you deflect, because if you manage to kill her off first, it'll give you an advantage in a fight. Of course, I'm not saying you shouldn't try to aim a deflect towards a tank, if they are low health, then just go for it. But most of the time, if a healer is on them, it'll just give the healer ult charge. So it'll benefit you more to aim your deflect towards a healer.
I just turned up every sensitivity option as high as possible, and I just went to the practice range.. got use to it.Then I went to quick play, and then comp.
Wow, your methods are pretty good, thanks for these. I'm going to try this out (and Widowmaker's one) next time and I hope to see more in the future. I also play on PS4 so I was wondering if one day I could play with you? Thank you so much for all the tips and this channel in general so much once again!
appreciate it, my 6 team comp on PS4 are tanks and healers, I myself an I Reinhardt/zarya main. Due to the new meta I have been running a bunch of soldier, but the time we come up against zippy characters, our healers (mercy/zen) struggle and then the team struggles. I just want to try something a bit different so our team does not plateau.
This comment is probably useless because i'm only a low diamond genji, but you should really practice your combos as genji because the combos do the most damage. Every time you dash, you should melee or secondary fire then melee to do extra damage right after dashing.
If you can do a video "how to find your main in overwacth", that will be great (it is one of my biggest problem in this game). Otherwise, a "how to play mei, torb, rein(for engage/disengage) or orisa" might be great too for competitive. Great video btw...
I main genji and I always put pressure on my self because I wanna be really good like the pros i currently have 19 hrs with him this video helped a lot " don't let genji play you " thanks man #isubscribed
You are not using the ultimate properly First: you must dash too much And jump while slicing Second: you can use the deflect in the ultimate it's so useful Third: you must be fast😇
Hey man, I love how detailed and helpful your videos are and I was hoping you could make a video about the new aiming technique from last patch "linear ramp" and the new slider for "aim smoothing" because I'm very confused as to if it's worth changing anything. Thanks, keep up the good videos!
As a console GM genji main, the beginning where bullets were being spammed at you while you were reflecting and you aiming at literally nothing when there was a 1/4 health Zenyatta an inch from your reticle...that hurt.
I Main Genji on console and I Have 100 Horizontal and 50 Vertical . And when you dash always use fan of blades and Animation Cancel with Dash it does around 78-134 Normal And 106-218 crit. If u do the Normal Combo jump ,dash down , And Fan Of blades Kills squishy heros. When you dragon blade Jump in the air , Dash up Triangle. Y or Q , Double Jump Dash down and Slice. Also To get a little bit more damage Slice ,Animation Cancel and dash to do 170 Damage.
I don't need this but i like watching these to see what i need to work on since i taught myself to play genji but im not like a god but im a good so if i want i just map the controls a bit and practice with those controls if im good i keep if im not i switch but then i just practice after that like playing against actual people instead of bots so i can practice on how people will act on that certain hero such as if i play genji i usually got the enemy team changing to torbjorn, bastion and other toxic crap so i practice on trying to defeat that character but nice video to teach people other people how to be comfortable on him :)
Few things to keep in mind,
Only dash in if you know you can kill someone so it resets, or you are behind them and you dash through them into your team
When you ult your dash resets so if you dash right before you ult you get a little bit more damage and it can help you eat on the point faster
Don't stop jumping and wall climbing too often and try get good at swift striking from target to target so your dragon add goes more smoothly
Omg u must be a pro Genji that's sexy lmao
Epic Pander ulting does not reset dash on ps4 not sure about the rest.

Thanks
Also make sure that when u ult u jump on top of people so it’s harder to hit u

Thanks for the Defense tip.
I’m switching from a mcree to a genji main in preparation for overwatch 2 so this video is very helpful

Starlord Vader also try to coordinate ur ult with other players
Example: nanoblade or grav + blade
I am 327 hours on genji
Watching this cuz i broke my finger so i am returning to console for the meantime (lol cant use wasd)
Hope it gets better
I'm a mid master to low gm genji and this practice mode is great I really recommend it
Divine Jibril finally another high level Genji like me
Am a trash genji but am determined to become a good genji am currently low gold which some people say gold players have a lack of brain cells but it's hard and am slowly getting the hang of him but am going to use this hopefully get better
I’m a Genji/Ana main and your videos have helped me get better at Overwatch. Thank you!!
Btw, I need healing(full health)
Another good practice ground for getting good at Genji is playing against AI in a private skirmish on Temple of Anubis second capture point. You make all the enemy team be Lucios so that you can practice fighting against really fast and flighty targets while making use of various different terrain heights and environment types as they are also healing and buffing each other with the occasional surprise Sound Barrier to counter your damage so that you have to constantly have contingencies.
Thanks bro I’m trying to main genji and I’m kinda bad wit him so this really helped me
Watching others and pros playing a certain hero helps you learn so much.
I gotta say
This video helped me a lot more then me playing 173 quick play matches
I got Overwatch yesterday, and I’ve been finding Genji really fun to play. I think that learning to play him is difficult makes him a really fun hero to play.
I have watched video before, but just wanted to check it out again. As of now Genji is my most played hero on 40 hours, and about 37 of them are from straight up quick play. You are like the only big overwatch youtuber that plays console and omfg is that helpful for people like me
Thank you so much for this video! I have been waiting for a video like this forever. Keep on doing the good work😄
I'm a Genji main playing on PS5. I prefer console over PC although I have a beast of a PC. Aine Aiden melee after fanning the shurikens at close range*
I'm an genji main, I have 95 hours and im still looking for ways to get better. This method has really helped me. Thanks man👌
As a genji main something I noticed is hat having a higher sensitivity is better for mechanical purposes, such as the combos, and ghost dashing for example. Yes.... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO BRO YOU WACK, AND TRUST ME YOU ARE A REALLY GOOD GENJI.
Andersen Lau No, he is good but he's not very good.
Andersen Lau that being said, he has definitely improved
I'm still learning, but I need more definitely gametime to get the right "Genji Mindset"
TheBroBroadcast Maybe increase sensitivity? Questionable Decisions oh god...
I may be late and almost a pro console genji. But it's nice to watch these videos and learn something maybe I didn't know. Keep it up
My main is genji and to play genji you have to constantly wall climb and use the map to your advantage and only dash when your confirming the kill because your dash automatically resets and amazing video
Hey BroYouWack, could you make a video for how to get better at Reaper on console?
I'm a Junkrat main and all my life wanted to main Genji- adore his design and everything but just could never play- seemed so hard to play; but this video definitely gonna help me become bit better..
What about the button layout? Do you change anything? Usually the layout feelsa clunky for so e characters like Lucio and pharah but wondering about genji so it can be easier tro press certrain abilities easier for easier combos and sucb
How do you rapidly do dash while using his ultimate cos I see a lot of people doing that
Did you change the damage of the soldier 76 or changed Genjis damage received
one of my new favorite youtubers now this helped since im a genji main
This actually helped out quite a bit! Especially since I was testing a new controller scheme. Thanks for the help!
Most people get better at something with practice but I seem to follow the opposite when it comes to Genji. I was really good with him when I first started using him and I've slowly gotten worse somehow.

There is a new setting called aim smoothing for console so can u make a video about it . Cause I am not sure what that does
AAbib 14011 don't try it if u have control freaks you can but oml it messed with my genji so bad the dragon blade is fantastic for that but it's so fast even at 98
OGsinatra Gaming lol i play on 50 aim smoothing
Farhang Dilshang god damn overwatch is only game I really play on high sense
Farhang Dilshang yeah, I play on 50 with exponential ramp
AAbib 14011 I play on 0 aim smoothing
What would be a good sensivity for genji
restored my faith in this shamada brother. thank you
honestly pretty cool to know about other peoples ideas of your main
This video helped so much! Thank you!
Also your next hero video should be Zen.
I don't remember if you mentioned this but if your swift strike is on cooldown and you get a kill even an assist would work but if you get on and it's on cooldown you get it back immediately ;3
Dude you actually really helped I did what you did and it really improved my genji plays thanks man
I have over 16 hours on genji in comp and I never thought of this thank you also I play on PS4 if you want to play sometime
How do you set up ur controls for Genji?
Thank you you are a good teacher and helped me a lot and helped me become a better genji.
Hey were you in a scrims match with like imhazza cause I've either played with you or I watched you but I love the vids
hey bro i just wanted to give you a tip for genj,i u want to save your dash to get out of trouble you dont want to go into a fight with dash unless you can get another kill to refresh your attack
Also junkrat may have hard to deflect projectiles but is limited at long and in my opinion short range so I always swift strike him three stars to the head dead
How do I save this custom game?
This video brought me to the Genji main I am now, thank you.
Thank you so much for this video, this really made me feel better about playing genji.
On ps4 I advise to put the jump button to L3, because that button isn’t really anything from before. The reason I advise this, is because when you move your thumb form the right analog stick to press the jump button, you won’t be able to move your sight or aim while jumping.
I have 30+ hours on Genji this helped me get the right mindset with Genji thanks, m y dood
Great job I just subscribed. Your doing a great job :D!
Thank you so much for doing these videos they helped me improve my gen hi gameplay and my widow thank you very much
unless you play claw or have a scuf controller then go to setting and switch deflect or swift strike to A then vice versa
dude thank you so much this video has helped get better with genji much love

Do you change the sensitivity for aim assist at all when you play genji? asking any console players.
i played honzo then tried to play widow but thought people would hate that I play that character. i eventually got used to it but ill never forget those first games.
I noticed when someone deflects, he aims in the middle of all the enemies, even tho it does a single target damage :/ Triggered

How do you make the arcade there’s nowhere to make a match like this
I just turned up every sensitivity option as high as possible, and I just went to the practice range.. got use to it.Then I went to quick play, and then comp.
Wow, your methods are pretty good, thanks for these. I'm going to try this out (and Widowmaker's one) next time and I hope to see more in the future. I also play on PS4 so I was wondering if one day I could play with you? Thank you so much for all the tips and this channel in general so much once again!
thank you sooo much I have been using this and i really have been getting better!
appreciate it, my 6 team comp on PS4 are tanks and healers, I myself an I Reinhardt/zarya main. Due to the new meta I have been running a bunch of soldier, but the time we come up against zippy characters, our healers (mercy/zen) struggle and then the team struggles. I just want to try something a bit different so our team does not plateau.
Thank you sooooo much for making this video this really helped me become a better genji and btw I subbed and liked! 😀
this video was amazing it helped so much it is exactly what i'm looking for thanks TheBroBroadcast
Do you use an el gato HD?
This comment is probably useless because i'm only a low diamond genji, but you should really practice your combos as genji because the combos do the most damage. Every time you dash, you should melee or secondary fire then melee to do extra damage right after dashing.
Nathan DeLeon wow its not like we already knew
Nathan DeLeon That melee combo doesnt work anymore
ArcadeuTV yes it does
Well if someone looked at my smurf they would see an unranked genji main
Bro u back get it my bro is back
Thank you so much this is going to help me improve Genji
i dont have the game but i would play quick play thats just how i would practice genji great video by the way
How to get better at genji:
Step 1: Say I need healing
Step 2: *P R O F I T*
Dude, I don't understand why you get so much criticism when your videos are so good
i may be late on this vid but this was actually great tips and now im a preety good genji thx bro :D
Love this vid! Can you do hanzo next?
If you can do a video "how to find your main in overwacth", that will be great (it is one of my biggest problem in this game). Otherwise, a "how to play mei, torb, rein(for engage/disengage) or orisa" might be great too for competitive. Great video btw...
thank you it helped me alot i subscribed and liked the vid and turn on notifications
This video made me a lot better at genji thanku for making it
Now I'm a pro power ranger
I main genji and I always put pressure on my self because I wanna be really good like the pros i currently have 19 hrs with him this video helped a lot " don't let genji play you " thanks man #isubscribed
Can you make a how to play reaper, Reinhardt, and/or Moira
Thx now I'm a PS4 gm this guide helped me reach gm as genji
You are not using the ultimate properly
First: you must dash too much
And jump while slicing
Second: you can use the deflect in the ultimate it's so useful
Third: you must be fast😇
viola alto you must need healing as well
U shouldn’t really deflect during ur ult because it wastes time while u could be slashing only do it if u have a dash ready to cancel the deflect
Turned on post alert love ur vids keep up the good work I play console too
Holy crap he sounds so calm compared to 2019 bro you wack I dont like this
Ikr
Hey man, I love how detailed and helpful your videos are and I was hoping you could make a video about the new aiming technique from last patch "linear ramp" and the new slider for "aim smoothing" because I'm very confused as to if it's worth changing anything. Thanks, keep up the good videos!
thx 4 the tips really herlped a lot.
good video
As a console GM genji main, the beginning where bullets were being spammed at you while you were reflecting and you aiming at literally nothing when there was a 1/4 health Zenyatta an inch from your reticle...that hurt.
Thank u this helped a lot I'm liking and subbing
I Main Genji on console and I Have 100 Horizontal and 50 Vertical . And when you dash always use fan of blades and Animation Cancel with Dash it does around 78-134 Normal And 106-218 crit. If u do the Normal Combo jump ,dash down , And Fan Of blades Kills squishy heros. When you dragon blade Jump in the air , Dash up Triangle. Y or Q , Double Jump Dash down and Slice. Also To get a little bit more damage Slice ,Animation Cancel and dash to do 170 Damage.
Thanks dude this really helped! One way I use is practice in the training range with the moving bots
I don't need this but i like watching these to see what i need to work on since i taught myself to play genji but im not like a god but im a good so if i want i just map the controls a bit and practice with those controls if im good i keep if im not i switch but then i just practice after that like playing against actual people instead of bots so i can practice on how people will act on that certain hero such as if i play genji i usually got the enemy team changing to torbjorn, bastion and other toxic crap so i practice on trying to defeat that character but nice video to teach people other people how to be comfortable on him :)
somehow i cant find out to change to health packs timers... how the hell do i do that on ps4
Another tip for gengi, dashing up above the action and throwing stars is an easy way for headshots
