    One extra think ill add is that most people think they are doing great as genji but only really do damage with his ult. Any top genji should be doing a lot of damage with shurikens in between ults to really maximise this character! -W
    P.S Thanks for 10,500 subs!! :D

    From one Genji main to another: Jump more! Especially during Dragonblade when you're as high priority target as a High Noon but without the benefit of range. Always jump over their heads while slashing downwards.

    • @yargolocus4853
      @yargolocus4853 8 лет назад +4

      I believe everyone has been against a good Genji who jumps around constantly. It really makes it infuriating to try and hit them.
      Once, I played Roadhog against such genji and I never even scratched him AT CLOSE RANGE.

    • @Accuaro
      @Accuaro 8 лет назад +3

      A good RoadHog would destroy an ulting Genji, for two reasons.
      When Ulting as Genji, there is an animation in which makes you vulnerable to a hook and or shotgun to the face.
      Secoundly, if calm, you can spot an opening for a hook if such Genji is jumping around you swinging in hopes to kill a tank first, if you miss just carefully aim and predict where he'll be next and shoot.
      Genji's ult does 120 dmg per swing, so it'd take time to whittle down a tank such as RoadHog, good Genji players will always aim for Supports first, then the rest of the squishies if in the optimal situation.
      I've got around 21 hours on Gneji, so I know how to both play and counter him really well as I've now started to play RoadHog. While RoadHog does a lot of damage, a good Genji can outplay him, so it's best to not go for a frontal 1v1 situation and try drag/bait him to some other of your team mates. If it's just you, keep calm and think. He's either going to use a dash, which has poor coding + 20 tick servers meaning if he does that Genji can be hooked since you don't move in a dash until it's complete, and being wary of reflect. Once those are gone, he's easy to deal with..

    • @Accuaro
      @Accuaro 8 лет назад

      Also since RoadHog's hook has a lower CD than Genji's reflect, a competent player will make good use of his dash to bait you into using a hook which makes you miss. After a waiting off a reflect a good Genji player will know the Hook CD and will wait before your cool down is finished before he dashes in hopes to make you whiff the hook, be smart and not hook immediately after your CD has finished, someone that is knowledgeable of both the enemies DPS and CD's for their abilities are dangerous to deal with.. So in turn, making them predictable.. but then again, since you're a tank you can afford to make a mistake, but making multiple pretty much means the end

    • @Hockeywizard5577
      @Hockeywizard5577 8 лет назад

      +NeoBlue actually the one hit kill hook has a shorter cool down its 6 seconds, and deflect has a 8 second cooldown.

      what i find helps with sensitivity is you have your mouse in the middle of your pad, aim at a target and move it to the side until you do a full 360 degree turn. If you have to go to far to the edge of your mouse pad then your sensitivity is too low. you could even mark your mouse pad and practice flick shots or 180 degree turns over and over to build up your muscle memory.

  • @mog8396
    @mog8396 8 лет назад +48

    tl;dr?
    - find *your* perfect sensitivity
    - learn to *right click* at close range and against bigger targets like *tanks*
    - pick battles and *only* compensate for enemy movement if *necessary!*
    - choose *your battles* wisely

    in the game play it looked like you were glued to the ground(jump more/take highground)...also your dragonblades were incredible slow paced(More dashing and also don't wait so long for dashing)

    • @YourOverwatch
      @YourOverwatch  8 лет назад +2

      A common mistake genji players make is actually jumping too much and slashing too much when it isnt needed. Swift strike is just as much an evading tool as it is to do damage. This game was 15k damage and 45% accuracy in 1 half of payload which is INSANE, not saying it was perfect as youd have 100% accuracy if it was but games like this are exceptional and even watching it back now i couldn't have done a lot more and would stand by most of the decisions i made :) Hope this helped! -W

    • @painy6588
      @painy6588 8 лет назад

      +Your Overwatch I jump a lot my peak rank is 78 even though my accuracy is like only 30% how do you explain that?:D

    • @YourOverwatch
      @YourOverwatch  8 лет назад +2

      Painy I wasn't saying you were bad as genji just that a common mistake is people over using his abilities when they dont need to. Also 30% is fairly low for 78 so you must get some good use out of his ult and swift strike :) -W

    • @painy6588
      @painy6588 8 лет назад

      +Your Overwatch na man the reason is that I spam constantly cuz why not someone might run around the corner. and what I meant with slow paced...you looked at zarya for example (while ulting) and it took you like a second or so to dash to her and when you dash to every target while ulting you are way harder to hit as opposed to just walking

    • @YourOverwatch
      @YourOverwatch  8 лет назад +1

      Painy i mean i got 15k damage in 1 half man, died only a few times and did my job of killing the squishies almost flawlessly, not sure what else to say haha. No one plays perfectly all the time, everyone makes bad decisions even in the best of games -W

    One thing I've noticed is people talk more about sensitivity now, when they used to talk about grip.
    The low sensitivity crowd is preachier than people joke about vegans being, you will always hear someone telling you that if you're doing more than a 180 degree turn by throwing your mouse down the hallway, your sensitivity is too high. Go with whatever is good for *you*.
    And higher sensitivity players can still do precise adjustments, which is something that the low sens crowd says you can't, if you use a palm grip on your mouse you can still make precise adjustments, even when it takes less than two inches to do a 360.
    However, high sens players like to say that the low sens crowd moves too slow, which for the most part is true, but if they go for a fingertip grip they can still do decently fast 180s, even if it takes up their whole mousepad to do so.

    • @kaskipa
      @kaskipa 8 лет назад

      "and higher sensitivity players can still do precise adjustments" I mean yeah they can, but the difference between a low sensitivity player doing precise adjustments and a high one is huge

    • @SmoothSully
      @SmoothSully 8 лет назад +1

      +SkartMan and the difference between a high sensitivity player and a low one doing a 180 to kill a target behind them is huge as well. In the end it depends on preference. Both have positives and negatives.

    • @echoseven8580
      @echoseven8580 8 лет назад +1

      It really depends on whether or not you are close range, mid range, or long range too. If you are up close the enemies are bigger targets, and move across your screen faster. But at mid range that isn't as true, so you should have a bit lower sensitivity for more accuracy. At long range the targets are small and move slowly across your screen, so have a low sensitivity isn't quite enough anymore, you need something a bit lower than that.

    i used controller for like 15yrs. switched to mouse a couple of weeks ago and my k/d is 3 instead of 2 now. I use 800 dpi and 8 sens ingame. it took about a week to get used too moving the mouse with my arm instead of just using my wrist. seagull says he uses his wrist for small aim corrections and his arm for big changes in directions. it's weird to get used too but if you just go cold turkey with a lower sensitivity it defintely will work out in the end. it took me a week of 5 hours a day to get used to it. approximately

    Deffo, I argue with friends who try to change my sensitivity from low to high saying it's to slow and you can't turn or react quickly enough however when they do higher the sensitivity they really ever score more than me with mine being sometimes a third lower .Low sensitivity rules.

  • @guitaristAustin

    Hi, this way may seem like a redundant question that I could probably find out elsewhere but I like your perception of playing genji.
    I was curious if I'm looking at my sensitivity and my dpi the wrong way playing him.
    So I use a gaming-type mouse, with some buttons on it for moving incremented/decremented in my DPI
    On top of that I have a button that is located somewhat conveniently on the side that is the dpi 'shift' which changes to a certain dpi while I'm holding the dpi shift button down on my mouse.
    So the question is, with a sensitivity setting in Overwatch of 4 (Yes I know, really low) and my DPI setting at 1600 default and the dpi shift at 640 dpi (so if I need to temporarily lower my sensitivity, I can).
    Do you think I'm approaching this the wrong way? Perhaps I'm overthinking the question entirely and that it's entirely dependent on how it works for the player? Thanks!

    • @ilu1247
      @ilu1247 7 лет назад +1

      Mr. Pulsar That is absolutely fine, i have 6 in game 800 dpi and i main genji in the 4300's. Why would you even want to lower your sens with the button anyways?

    • @guitaristAustin
      @guitaristAustin 7 лет назад

      I guess for me it's a preferential thing, but thank you for your comparative advice, I'm glad to hear that. I guess I feel like depending on the hero I'm fighting, a different sensitivity might benefit me and depending on range, I will sometimes hold the DPI-Shift button down (the one that only changes your DPI as long as the button is being pressed) but honestly on average, I would say that I do not switch DPI mid game or really at all, and at this point its become more of a very situational tool that I will use if I'm noticing my aiming to be off. It might help me learn to correct projectile speeds with distance.

    • @ilu1247
      @ilu1247 7 лет назад

      You can even lower your sens a bit, if you have abig enough mousepad and feel like your aim is off, but dont touch the button mid game, its only going to hurt you in the long run

    • @guitaristAustin
      @guitaristAustin 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the advice!
      Honestly though the DPI-Shift, preferentially, works for me but it's not a strategic outlet. I don't plan around having to use my dpi shift but there are times when being able to be more precise rather than just accurate helps.
      That being said I could see why shifting DPI's would hurt someones ability to aim, so I'm going to be mindful of what you said to see if I suffer from using the dpi-shift.

  • @tubester358
    @tubester358 8 лет назад

    I play with 800DPI and about 21 sensitivity in-game. I tried to lower than this but it really feels like my cursor isn't moving, and I'm using a deskmat... I think the best advice I got about mouse sensitivity and whatnot is to set it so you can comfortably make a 360 (not too fast but not so slow you'll have to lift the mouse or anything). I practiced some sniping and head shooting and whatnot in a custom game and my best accuracy with any hero is probably with those settings (think I tried 17 or so and went back to 20-22). I used to play at about 30 for that quick acquisition of my target, but went down to 21 and it seemed just about right.
    I play Genji a lot and have gotten used to his shurikens; I land a lot of them and they're often headshots since I mostly try to aim at head level of whom I'm attacking, especially bigger targets (30% accuracy? Top 17% according to overbuff, lol. McCree's is 44%, top 6%, top 23% crits).

    • @tubester358
      @tubester358 8 лет назад

      ***** I wanna practice with slightly lower sensitivity, but I doubt I can go that low now. I already have a deskmat, but my setup overall feels uncomfortable for me anyway, that's prolly why I don't wanna move the mouse so much but I'll test it out somemore. I actually chose 800dpi 'cause a lot of good players do and it feels manageable. I have a friend that said he plays with 3000dpi.

      Not sure i would say lifting on consoles is all that great, among top players on console they play on pretty low too although for overwatch im sure some characters like genji and reaper probably need a higher sensitivity but those such as widow and mccree probably want lower

    One tip in this video is going to be obsolete after the next patch. You'll no longer be able to cancel your melee with a swift strike. In other words, the melee has to finish it's animation before you can swift strike. You also won't be able to double jump after a wall climb, and of course his ultimate will drop from 8sec to 6sec (which is probably the most understandable nerf he's getting).
    All this because he's being used too much in meta. If a character isn't be used enough in the competitive scene, they buff them. If they're being used too much, they nerf. And that doesn't sit well with me. They dictate their buffs and nerfs based on what a small fraction of people playing the game do. But I get it.

    So when should I use left click? Say close range vs squishy? Medium range? Or only long range at what distance. Is it better to left click or right click squishy?

    All these people talking about accuracy but haven't spoken once that if you play genji, you should, no, you must jump a lot as him so you're practically untouchable especially during you're ult because you become quite an easy target when you do it and dash right after ulting to cancel the animation. (or run up a wall either work) and do the same at the end of the ult to cancel the animation. These are some tips that you definitely need to know as a genji main.

    hey i have some problems with sensitivity. ive watched a lot of videos and they say things like: find whats comfortable, use something thats low, and even some mention templates like if u move ur mouse 10 inches, you rotate this much etc. im actually confused on what my mouse sensitivity should be.. when i have my mouse sensitivity on low, it doesnt feel comfortable but is that something ill just get used to? like in one of ur videos talking about sensitivity (ft. widow) you guys mentioned two sensitivites (for example freedos was low cause he has a huge mousepad). you then say how find whats comfortable. like i dont exactly get what that means? thanks, and just wanted to say your channel is amazing :)

      This sensitivity isnt too high and if you are comfortable with it just try dropping in game sens by 1 or so until you get used to that for a few days and so on. Eventually it should become natural :)

  • @robertotomas
    @robertotomas 8 лет назад

    I was playing at 1600 or 2000 dpi and 35 sensativity but it was too high. I dropped it down to 2000dpi and 12 sensativity and havent looked back. Hearing that you go even lower is inspiring me to feather down more to try it out... do you know if the ingame numbers scale linearly? Ie, is it just multiplication, like 10 in-game + 1000dpi = 20 in-game + 500 dpi ??
    If so, it would definitely make sense to set it at 2000dpi all the time, and lower the in-game sensativity further.

    Everyone comes into Overwatch trying Genji first and then they fall in love with him like I did, then they find out he is a VERY mobile character, so they jump around prancing and miss every shot, because you need to get aim before all that happens, on another video explains how you can get very good accuracy. By not using a crosshair. get used to not relying on thinking Genji=Soldier and you can hit anyone by having your crosshair on them. Well ya cant. so my tip since I'm a console player that is a Genji main is this: Go into the practice range -> play without a crosshair in the practice range for a while -> go to quick play and practice without a crosshair there, and once you get at least 35% accuracy on your favorite hero without a crosshair, turn the dot crosshair on, get around 50% accuracy, then you can do which crosshair you want and become a Widowmaker main or something idk.

    Hey there! I've got a question!
    So, I've never played Overwatch, not once. But I made a bet with my younger brother who has at least a little more experience than me.
    The plan is to play a 1v1, with my brother as Pharah, and little old me as the amazing Genji.
    I'm not entirely confident I'll win, and it's only $10, but I wouldn't mind a victory here.
    Any tips for the noob with an ego?
    Thanks, and by the way, your videos are great! Really precise.
