On Sunday evening I attended The Night of a Thousand Balloons....a tribute concert celebrating the Life of Michael 'X-Ray' Macrae, former co-owner and booker of the legendary Horseshoe Tavern. X-Ray was a local music fan, promoter and talent buyer from the 80's and 90's who helped develop come.of Canada's biggest artists, such as Blue Rodeo, The Tragically Hip, The Watchman, Amanda Marshall, and many others.
All proceeds of this event went towards 'SHINE' an annual financial award intended to support young musicians for whom financial barriers are making it difficult for them to pursue their study or practice of music.
Stephen Stanley is one of the original members of the Canadian alt-rock band The Lowest of the Low and has recently released the excellent album "Before The Collapse of the Hive" with his own Stephen Stanley Band. Hugh Christopher Brown is a songwriter, producer, bandleader, and sideman, who has toured and recorded with artists across genres from BB King and The Tragically Hip to DJ Logic and Tom Jones.
FYI, these vids are strictly for the purpose of preserving a few memories for myself and they are (obviously) not professionally done. If any artist would prefer me to take a video down, let me know (leave a comment or you can dm me on Instagram: @thevinylvagabond) and I will do so immediately.
I do not, and will NEVER monetize this channel. Support the artists.
