I remember when the 2012 Seahawks beat the Bears. It was that point where rookie Russell Wilson was really starting to put things together. If I recall, he led a 90 yard drive at the end of the game to tie things up, and then led another long drive in OT to win it. Nothing super special, but just moving the chains consistently. For me, it was that game that made me realize he was going to be pretty good.

After their 7-1 start they faced 6 consecutive playoff teams with 10 or more wins and simply lost to teams that didn’t turn the ball over.
They won their final 2 games vs a 5 and 4 win team as par for the course and missed the playoffs entirely due the timing of that 6 game stretch which made it seem like more of a collapse than in reality it was.

If Washington goes for 2 in the first meeting and Elliott wasn’t Superman against the Bills you’d have two losses right there. Add in the incompetence by the Cowboys in the first matchup and I found those three losses. Hell if the pass from Mahomes is caught in the last 1:20 for a long touchdown in Kansas City they’d have four. That whole season was fluky and as an Eagles fan I felt half our wins weren’t even enjoyable as the defense was atrocious most of the year and Hurts wouldn’t shut up and just snap the ball let alone know how to throw from a rollout. All the signs were there and after the loss to San Fran the players already were showing they were locker room cancer and it became obvious that there would be a collapse. Hell if Tyrod starts Christmas Day they lose both games to the Giants

At least a couple of teams you forgot.
2023 Jags: Started out with an 8-3 record and were competing for the 1st seed in the AFC, but then lost out on the rest of their games except for them handing the Panthers their first shutout in like 2 decades in week 17. Yes, Trev got hurt, but they were more than capable of letting him rest. The defense also shares the blame--missing the playoffs and handing the division to the Texans.
Speaking of the Panthers, their 2018 season was a bit of a collapse as well. They went 6-2 their first 9 weeks, and then, starting with a Thursday night drubbing at the hands of the Black and Gold Brigade, completely fell apart and lost the rest of their games except for the last one, in which they beat a 2nd-string Saints team which was resting Brees for the playoffs before knowing what kind of refball would come to NOLA. No playoffs that year, or any of the next years up to now.
As a Panthers fan myself, that still stings today. We had a talented lineup including Cam, Luke, Olsen, an emerging DJ More, an emerging CMC, Graham Gano, and several others I'm forgetting. Yes, I know that Cam got hurt during the Steelers game, and it probably changed the trajectory of his career, and the entire future of the franchise, and now look at us. I think 2018 was also Tepper's first year and Rivera's last full year.
Shoutout to the 2021 Cardinals for being the last undefeated team then hilariously collapsing.
Finally, I have to mention the 2023 Cowboys for being one of the best Dallas teams we've seen in a while that decided to choke against a 7-seed for the first time in NFL playoff history. Classic.

Going back to the Eagles, let’s mention the season after their first Super Bowl appearance, the 1981 Eagles, started the season 6-0, by week 11 they were 9-2 and a favourite to win the Super Bowl, they ended up losing 4 of their last 5, finishing 10-6 and qualifying as a wild card, and then losing the wild card game to the Giants who were making their first playoff appearance since 1963, their very first playoff appearance in the Super Bowl era, after that season, the Eagles wouldn’t make the playoffs for another 7 years. The 1986 Jets, started the season 10-1, finished with a 10-6 record, they did qualify as a wildcard but won the wildcard game, and that was their last playoff appearance in awhile. Also, the 1986 Raiders that after 12 games were 8-4, 3 of 4 remaining games were against weaker teams, one against the winless Colts, but they managed to lose all 4, even to the Colts

I think the 2015 packers could maybe be on this list too. Yes we did win a playoff game but we started 6-0 and lost 6 of our last 10 games and didn’t even win the NFC North

    Honorable Mention:
Not as horrible, but the 2012 Houston Texans. Started the year 11-1 and then wore those letterman jackets against NE, got blown out, and ended the year 12-4 and went from the #1 seed to the #4.

I can't remember what year it was, but I remember Cam Newton and the Panthers had a season where they started 6-0 or 6-2 and were undefeated at home then lost every game afterward. I think the Giants in 2008 won their first six in a row then lost six in a row.

The thing about that 2020 steeper team. The two or theee games headed into that redskin game the Steelers had played like crap and had closer than they should be type games. So when the Washington game came around I gave us hope to predict it and be right.

As a Patriots fan, the 2015 team is up there for me. Started 10-0. Ended 2-4. Including embarrassing losses to the Brock Osweiler led Broncos and the Sam Bradford led Eagles. Oh, and of course, Belichick deciding to kick the ball in overtime against the Jets.

Don’t forget the 2013 Texans. The year before they went 12-4 and made the divisional round, and was poised to improve the next year. But, after going 2-0 to start the season, they would lose a consecutive 14 games and would fire their head coach and would let their franchise starting quarterback leave after having four straight games with a pick six. Even worse, they brought in Bill O’Brien to “fix” things.

Honorable mention to the 1976 Baltimore Colts, whose season ended in a playoff loss to the dreaded Steelers... moments before an airplane crashed into the stadium. Had the game been closer and/or run longer, that section would have been full, and who knows how many more people would have been harmed.
    Different kind of disaster.

The Eagles mirrored the many iterations of the September/October Cub teams I’ve witnessed over the years. They fell off a cliff, forgot how to not only win but almost a foregone conclusion even to a terrible Giants and Cardinals team.
I bet heavy on Tampa. I’m an expert on teams that fall off a cliff.

What about the season where the Broncos collapsed that costed Mike Shanahan his job as HC of the Broncos. I think they started 6-2 and finished 2-6 down the stretch to miss the playoffs and they needed only 1 win to get in. Or the 2023 Jaguars where they were in prime position to win the AFC South only to collapse and not make into the playoffs because of Lawrence getting hurt and their defense sucking up the joint.

2023 Miami Dolphins? They should have been able to wrap the division up, but they lost to Tennessee, Baltimore, and Buffalo in their last 5 games after the Bills free fell from 3-1 to 6-6, handing the Dolphins a 3 game lead. And with the division and 2 seed on the line, the Dolphins choked against Buffalo, giving the Bills the division. Then the Chiefs beat Miami in the Dolphins biggest stretch nemesis - the cold (yes, extreme cold in this case).

As an Eagles fan this past season may be one of the most embarrassing I’ve ever witnessed - and now, to top it all off, the Niners are one win away from a SB title. Literal nightmare scenario for the Birds.
Losing last year’s SB is going to haunt this franchise for years. I really hate this team.

Cleveland can't forget the 2014 disaster known as Johnny Football (insert any type of puking noise here). Local boy and fan favorite, Bryan Hoyer leads us to a 7-4 start (best since 2007 and finish 10-6 but no playoffs based on tie breaker) and the city and owner wanted to see the: 'swan riding', money phone dialing, fake mustache wearing, girlfriend beater, private jet flying, running from the cops quarterback go 0-5 to take the Mike Pettine lead Browns out of the playoffs.....Yeesh. Good times Johnny, good times.

Not sure if this qualifies. 78 Pats
11-4 then coach at the time Chuck Fairbanks decided to go back to college mainly due to $$$ cause of cheapskate Mr Krabs Sullivan. Instead of being canned he was suspended and reinstated him the following week when they got crushed by the Oilers in the Pats 1st ever playoff home game in Foxboro.
