And the bracket screws do not tighten enough to hold the mic in place. Maybe that is a defect with mine but expect better when new. But when it does work, it sounds great.
Thanks for sharing that. For the volume issue you can try to put a compressor in your audio processing that will help the volume for lower voice and higher voice to be closer together.

😂😂🤣🤣 yes it will. You can choose it in OBS or any software as an audio source and control it. I just did a review of the Fifine AC3 mixing board which is my latest video and it works perfectly with that if you do decide to xlr

It's quite easy, just make sure you get a proper adapter, for iPhone 15P/PM and all 16 series, you can get pretty much any standard type-c cable for the connection. But for the rest of the models that use lightning, if you do want to sift through the ones that work because of the protocol, it's better to get one from the Apple store
@@WilliamNevius I’m tryna use it cause I record music on BandLab but it’s not working even when I plug up the mic and it lights up. Is it cause of the device I’m using?
The only way you can use mute function, gain knob and headphone jack is if you’re using this microphone as a USB interface. Once you switch to XLR, all those features go out the window. if you want RGB colors you can plug in the USB-C while using XLR.
I play on Ps5, and the only problem I have is that there's a lot of static and background noise. Is there a solution? I found out the issue. It's the boom arm itself. There's little to no background when it's off the boom arm, and as soon as the mic comes into contact with it, it's like everything is enhanced, and the background noise is horrendous (like slight desk tapping.)
Are you using a cheap metal one? Is your Power connection have the 3 pin for ground? I know mine did that once before, and I had to grip the boom arm and my body removed the static. Is your XLR cable? have a ground? Or are you using a 1/4 connection? I believe the 1/4 may not have a ground depending on your cable..
Does the dual output (USB & XLR) of AM8 operate alternately or can they be used simultaneously? If they can be used simultaneously, is it possible as a backup in case one of them encounters an issue? How about K688? Can the USB & XLR be used simultaneously? I appreciate your assistance.
Yes you can use XLR and USB at the same time. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to do so because your voice would be doubled. So in your stream, it would be twice, and the recording would be twice on different tracks. You can mute a source, I guess, but with the quality of the mic, you shouldn't have to worry about an input failing on you. ALL mics with multiple sources can work this way with XLR and USB at the time. Hope that answers your question
Can we use it with iphone/android?? If yes can you please try it on your own and reply me back with your honest opinion. It would be really helpful to me.
usually this happens when you're charging the controller while using the mic. Maybe gain is maxed on the mic and/or your mic settings on PS5 are overtuned/maxed. If that's not it idk, I'd google around a bit more.
If you use XLR with a mixer you need to mute and unmute from the mixer. The mute on the mic only works with usbc. As far as the colors you’ll need to plug in the usbc to turn those on and off. Hope that makes sense
This is plug-and-play, so it should not do that. Have you tried it on another computer? Or on your computer in multiple software programs to see if it sounds the same?
What is your honest preference for a microphone for this price point that utilises USB audio? I've researched and landed on brands such as the Fifine am8, audio-technica AT2020 USB, audio-technica 2100x USB, and Samson Q2U.
@@WilliamNevius Just mainly streaming, project creation e.g. informative videos/narration, and basic discord session calls. Perhaps these options aren't suitable for these situations, please correct me or inform me of a better solution if possible.
No. If you are monitoring the audio from the microphone.. But if you’re recording yourself into a software and playing back at the saving time, it would obviously be a delay because it would take time for your voice to hit the microphone and play back through the speakers so I guess yes if you’re not real time audio monitoring
I would try seeing if you can return it or swap it out if it’s not working correctly, you shouldn’t have to press the mic game to increase the volume just twist. If you want to open up the Mike, if you take off the foam cover, there are screws that you can remove to get inside. I hope that helps.
Hey William. Thank you or the video. Do you have a video that teaches editing the audio of an AM8 mic?? I just got the mic and I wanna go the extra mile.
Planning to get this however, it concerns me that other people on discord will hear me typing on my keyboard. Is there something that I can do about that?
You can add filters in the app or position the keyboard and mouse away more. I never hear people complain about hearing too much noise typing. Probably won’t be noticeable if you play music as well
go to settings>system>Volume mixer> Input choose Fifine microphone. If you choose Fifine microphone in output of your audio settings when you play videos or any sound from your computer the sound comes out the headphone jack.
I have Fifine A6T, it was great in the beginneing but now it doesnt work anymore, i don't know why. the RGB works and its recognized by Windows, but when i use it in my meetings, people don't hear me. I checked out all settings, I updated the driver, I do all possible things to fix it, but no way!!!!
Can you please tell me or make a video, are you adjusting your sound in OBS or another program to sound that good or is it just your voice and the Mic??
To adjust the sound all I do is adjust the gain knob. XLR sounds richer in audio quality but usb is good too. Maybe try adjusting the gain knob to somewhere between 12 o’clock and 9 o’clock on your mic while using.
Try taking the filter all off. It may be something off with one of the filters you have on. Try it in another program to determine if the mic is messed up or the obs filters.
I’m sure you checked to make sure the game night was up. It starts to distort at about 80% so it shouldn’t be low. What program are you using to capture the audio from USB?
@@WilliamNevius Well im trying to play with friends and they said my mic sounded low so I went to a random mic test site, and it does sound low. I also have all the gain up
hey so i bought the am8 and within the first day of using it i felt that i accidently turned the adjustment knob on the side (barely turning one side and loosening it barely) and prior to that i had not adjusted it to be different than how it was out of the box. after that i untightened both sides and i retightened them fully (until i cant tighten it anymore) im just wondering if tightening it fully is bad. i also now see that the microphone is slightly more to the right than to the left of the stand and im wondering if that is normal or if that was because of how i untightened and retightened it.
Slightly off to the right to prevent plosives when speaking into the mic for “pop” sounds when saying P words? That’s why I do that. But the tightening part is okay to not be extremely tight but not too loose. Don’t want to over tighten and strip the strew.
Word. Can’t really go wrong with a Fifine mic and it’s great for like $50 bucks. The xlr is good especially with a decent audio interface. Sounds pretty similar with either xlr or usb
I just purchased this mic and tested it out yesterday. I don’t know but it seems like the quality of it has changed to the downside. This mic is extremely low even turning up the gain to full doesn’t help
Interesting…have you tried the mic on another device like a phone or another computer to make sure it’s not the computer settings? What program are you recording the audio in
Yo, i have e250u mk2 rn and i was thinking abt this mic bc my current one is super super quiet, do you think that i will not have problems like that with am8? I might be little more far than 6 inches while gaming btw
Fifne am8 is a dynamic mic which usually requires more gain vs condenser mics. Dynamic mics are less sensitive than condenser mics by design, so will usually require you to be right up close to the mic to get the best possible sound (around 2-6 inches from the diaphragm). This applies using usb and xlr but if you’re using it xlr your mixer should enhance the volume. Condenser mics are sensitive so would pickup more background noises vs dynamic mics (Fifine am8) tends to block out more background noise. Hope that makes sense and helps
The volume should be adjusted by the knob on the mic so there is no need to adjust the volume in windows. Rule of thumb is your audio meter on what ever program should never go into the red but be mostly in the green and some yellow. Hope that makes sense and is helpful
@kaiko lol it’s because it’s a special low profile stand with cable management. It’s a super fancy one that’s why. They make more generic ones for less than $40 bucks.
@ivanirias yes they do have a cheaper bundle option but it’s high because it’s one of those low profile super fancy ones. They make basic ones like 30 bucks too lol
@rexlur. Is the gain knob up? You made sure your what you are using it in is turned up and connect correctly? If it’s still not working it’s probably a dub and need to hit up Fifine
I like where the knobs are on the AM8. You can position the mic so that the knobs don't show when you have a camera facing you, but with the K688 the knobs are on the back and are view from a front facing camera not to mention, it's more practical to have the knobs where you can easily access them such as on the AM8.
Thank you very much. I was actually looking for a comparison between these two microphones, and the explanation is more than wonderful. I wish you success bro🔥🔥🔥🫡🫡🫡

@WilliamNevius I'm using the boom arm that came with the fifine mic
Sounds great!
Not bad right! 😄😄
@@WilliamNeviusYeah!
Late reply but yes, only with the USB though
And it sounds pretty similar like if it was in computer so for the price it's pretty good
Thank you for sharing this as I do not have lighting to USB connection to test that feature. You Rock @Altzfr
@@WilliamNevius thank you, by the way great review, this review convinced me to get it. Just waiting it to arrive!
for some reason mine on ps5 has a very fuzzy sound to it to where you can’t even understand me what could it be?
Have you tried on PC to see if it’s the same way? That way you can identify if it’s the system or microphone
usually this happens when you're charging the controller while using the mic. Maybe gain is maxed on the mic and/or your mic settings on PS5 are overtuned/maxed.
If that's not it idk, I'd google around a bit more.
yo forget the mic tell me about that BOOM ARM I NEED DAT LINK
I’m saying bruhhh FiFine BM88W amzn.to/48vJiiS cost is high but dang is it sharp 🔥😩🙌🏽
@@WilliamNevius got that joint coming in TONIGHT 🤣
😄😁😂🤣😇🔥🔥🔥
Is there a way to make it pick up only the sounds that are coming from the front?
No sound can only come from the front capsule. You can’t change that.
For the first mix if you use it with the xlr connected to a mixer can you still not mute or use the lights? 🤔
If you use XLR with a mixer you need to mute and unmute from the mixer. The mute on the mic only works with usbc. As far as the colors you’ll need to plug in the usbc to turn those on and off. Hope that makes sense
When I upgraded my PC the am8 sound robot and glitchy 😢 now I can't use it and idk how to fix it
This is plug-and-play, so it should not do that. Have you tried it on another computer?
Or on your computer in multiple software programs to see if it sounds the same?
@@WilliamNevius yea I've tried on my laptop and it works but my main PC sound glitchy 🤷
Maybe try reseting the sound card on your PC? That tells me it is something up on your PC and not the mic.
@@WilliamNevius hmm ok I'll look up a video on that 👍. Thank you for helping me 😁 you earned a sub
try changing the cable to usb 3.0 cable, that should resolve the issue@@HoopsAndHorsePower.
What is your honest preference for a microphone for this price point that utilises USB audio? I've researched and landed on brands such as the Fifine am8, audio-technica AT2020 USB, audio-technica 2100x USB, and Samson Q2U.
Depends what the primary use for the microphone is?
@@WilliamNevius Just mainly streaming, project creation e.g. informative videos/narration, and basic discord session calls. Perhaps these options aren't suitable for these situations, please correct me or inform me of a better solution if possible.
is there any delay on the monitoring sound ?
No. If you are monitoring the audio from the microphone.. But if you’re recording yourself into a software and playing back at the saving time, it would obviously be a delay because it would take time for your voice to hit the microphone and play back through the speakers so I guess yes if you’re not real time audio monitoring
How do I open the microphone? For some reason, I have to press on the mic volume button for
It to work. How do I fix it?
I would try seeing if you can return it or swap it out if it’s not working correctly, you shouldn’t have to press the mic game to increase the volume just twist. If you want to open up the Mike, if you take off the foam cover, there are screws that you can remove to get inside. I hope that helps.
Hey William. Thank you or the video. Do you have a video that teaches editing the audio of an AM8 mic?? I just got the mic and I wanna go the extra mile.
Hey. What are you using the mic for? A livestream or voice overs for content? What type of editing are you looking into getting better at?
Can this be used with Astro a50s so I don’t have to use the mic on my headset?
Yes of course it can
@@WilliamNeviusthanks. I didn’t know because it’s wireless and I thought it needed a headset wire plugged into it. Thank you
Yea so you’d setup the audio output to be the astros and the am8 mic to be autie input.
my mics really quiet, what are your settings at?
Set the gain to 75% of the way and it works fine. Are you using USB or XLR with a interface?
@@WilliamNevius usb
Check your audio setting on the mic in your computer to make sure it’s up to the max
i'm really eyeing up the AM8, but i'm worried about accidentally muting myself bc of the direction the mic has to be
The button changes colors to show muted as red. or you can monitor your voice audio with the headphone jack on the mic or of your stream.
Planning to get this however, it concerns me that other people on discord will hear me typing on my keyboard. Is there something that I can do about that?
You can add filters in the app or position the keyboard and mouse away more. I never hear people complain about hearing too much noise typing. Probably won’t be noticeable if you play music as well
I am having problems connecting my mic up to the pc and headphones to the mic on windows 11 can you he?
go to settings>system>Volume mixer> Input choose Fifine microphone.
Sorry to hear that man. I’m sure you’ve tried other cables? Try the mic in another computer? Try a different mic in your computer
Could be the setting of the software. Have you tried on other apps? Or just run audio test on the system sound settings?
are these mics good on picking up breathing bcs on my mic i can hear me me breathing and its very sensitive to it which is annoying
What type of mic do you have? Is it a condenser or dynamic? Which one?
@@WilliamNevius dynamic im pretty sure
Can you please tell me or make a video, are you adjusting your sound in OBS or another program to sound that good or is it just your voice and the Mic??
To adjust the sound all I do is adjust the gain knob. XLR sounds richer in audio quality but usb is good too. Maybe try adjusting the gain knob to somewhere between 12 o’clock and 9 o’clock on your mic while using.
the boom arm is made of metal right?
Yup!!
Why does mine sound muffled, have all the obs filters, but it still sounds underwater, muffled.
Try taking the filter all off. It may be something off with one of the filters you have on. Try it in another program to determine if the mic is messed up or the obs filters.
why does mine not sound this good right out the box, if you've made any eq to this mic, please share =)
No EQ. Just straight out of the microphone in this video.
@@WilliamNevius why is mine sounding bad then? Yours have more bass and more highs while mine sounds like a Walkie Talkie
@@AxstroOnMode must be your setting on your pc that if you are using pc
My mic is low can you help?
Are you using XLR or usb ?
@@WilliamNevius usb
I’m sure you checked to make sure the game night was up. It starts to distort at about 80% so it shouldn’t be low.
What program are you using to capture the audio from USB?
@@WilliamNevius Well im trying to play with friends and they said my mic sounded low so I went to a random mic test site, and it does sound low. I also have all the gain up
Check your pc mic settings and make sure it’s all the way up as well as input
hey so i bought the am8 and within the first day of using it i felt that i accidently turned the adjustment knob on the side (barely turning one side and loosening it barely) and prior to that i had not adjusted it to be different than how it was out of the box. after that i untightened both sides and i retightened them fully (until i cant tighten it anymore) im just wondering if tightening it fully is bad. i also now see that the microphone is slightly more to the right than to the left of the stand and im wondering if that is normal or if that was because of how i untightened and retightened it.
Slightly off to the right to prevent plosives when speaking into the mic for “pop” sounds when saying P words? That’s why I do that. But the tightening part is okay to not be extremely tight but not too loose. Don’t want to over tighten and strip the strew.
Not bad but the XLR sounded way better. Sounded less digital.
Word. Can’t really go wrong with a Fifine mic and it’s great for like $50 bucks. The xlr is good especially with a decent audio interface. Sounds pretty similar with either xlr or usb
Welcome
@@WilliamNevius thx
got the same mic but my mic turns on by it self
lol I don’t think it supposed to do that. But if it works it works
Hey, man, how high do you have the mic recording set in Windows settings?
The volume should be adjusted by the knob on the mic so there is no need to adjust the volume in windows. Rule of thumb is your audio meter on what ever program should never go into the red but be mostly in the green and some yellow. Hope that makes sense and is helpful
@@WilliamNevius yes that makes sense, thanks

excuse me why is the stand more expensive than just the mic ;-;
I guess is because there might be a bundle for the 2, I remember seeing one for about 90 bucks, so you're tempted to go for that one.

If it’s still not working it’s probably a dub and need to hit up Fifine
links dosnt works and ty for videos
Which link? I just checked and the microphone Amazon link does work
I just wish the am8 didnt have that big ass knob
I feel you 😂😂😂
I like where the knobs are on the AM8. You can position the mic so that the knobs don't show when you have a camera facing you, but with the K688 the knobs are on the back and are view from a front facing camera not to mention, it's more practical to have the knobs where you can easily access them such as on the AM8.
what boom are is that in the beginning
