I'm guessing that based on Avelo's position they were probably too close to the runway. But why he didn't clear them to takeoff earlier before the bathroom issue, I have no idea
It’s because the 33 hold short bars are closer to the intersection of 33 and 8. Once the plane taxis down that “B” lane, they are technically on the runway and planes can’t land while Avelo is there. Poor on ATC if you ask me.
A couple of reasons There's no taxiway to runway 33. Planes have to back taxi because the spacing between the ramp and the runway is just a few hundred feet. Aircraft lands and/or departs on 33 at BUR on windy days. I flown in and out of BUR many many times.
@Southwest_923WR it's going to be fixed, though. They are rebuilding and relocating the entire terminal as we speak. The current terminal will be knocked down, and two taxiways will be put in its place once the new one opens
3:00 there is no “published missed approach procedure” for the Rnav visual 33. Only to expect ATC to issue 270 heading up to 5000 feet, but there isn’t any missed approach procedure. Poor job with the controller..
1) The vast majority of the time, they issue that as the missed off Runway 8, so it's a habit. 2) For airlines that use an op spec visual procedure, they may have a published missed. 3) Expect 270 and climb 4000 is published. Fly it and call SCT for further vectors.
@@N1120Amy airline has the RNAV visual, and it specifically said there is NO missed approach procedure for 33, however the “Expect” is 270 heading up to 5000.

A RNAV visual approach is where you follow the RNAV (area navigation) instrument approach to a certain point, I guess in this case on the left base leg, and than continue visually to land. The minimums will be higher than a normal RNAV approach that brings you straight in to the rwy. So at your final RNAV waypoint you should have the runway right in front of you. But in this case the final RNAV waypoint will be on the left base leg, so you should see the runway on your left sight (9 to 11 o'clock), and make the final left turn visually.
