Smart guy crazy how he notices where the storm cells might be especially from that far away. I guess pilots go though some sort of training to tell where they should go
Yeah they are retractable, but lights wouldn't increase the parasite drag a hell of a lot. They are landing lights afterall, used for TO and LDG. I doubt they'd be up to reduce drag, considering they are required equipment for RPT IFR. Probably just forgot in all honesty, since it was daytime there is no real requirement to use them to help visibility.
@@JustRememberWhoYoureWorkingFor It moves them only up to 60kts during takeoff, when CLMP appears and it won't move them anymore unless there is a malfunction, or the DFGS kicks into another mode.
"Lets not go through that, or that".
I agree!
Right, lol
I would LOVE to fly this airplane.
Its very hard. even with a license. Cause almost no airliner uses the md-80 plane. Your gonna have to go to cargo
@@gabrielflorentino6080 I know. I fly the MD11.
@@paulnobleii4239 Lucky man.
@@paulnobleii4239 Yeah… very lucky.
Prove it@@paulnobleii4239
Great video. Long live the Mad Dog!!!
Never knew this airport or most other airports even had MD-80's. Great to see honestly.
Nice video. Been to Nashville so many times but never in an MD-80. Mostly Embraer. Long time ago it was the Northwest DC-9 and I enjoyed that one.
That dc9 is a gorgeous plane
MD 80 the best airplane of the aircraft story ! Incredible power like a missle !
Nice video
Departure from banana 🍌
Nice takeoff procedures...
Although the video could be a little bit longer.
Awesome!! ❤❤

Not to mention on board weather radar!
Love the mad dog 80
The MD-80 Sounds needs to be added in X Plane mobile
Nice Plane👍👍👍👍👍👍✈✈✈✈
nice video
American Airlines :)
Live in Nashville!
What the hell is that sound in 1:49
Damm i don't know scary
flight boy 6 Nosegear still Spinning a bit coming into the wheel well
Nose wheels don't have brakes so they use snubber pads inside the wheel bay to stop there spinning, thats the sound you hear.
Ohh i see, on other aircraft that sound is not even close to this one.
CptFinland Well but also this is a much more outdated plane.
❤
Whoops on the landing lights
Why takeoff without the Landing Lights on?
Awesome video nonetheless!
to be more visible to other traffic, day or night.
Yeah I realise, but the lights are OFF...
Seeing how the 80 has retractable landing lights they would keep them up to increase airflow on the wings therefore decreasing time needed for takeoff

Alex Farmer Most likely. Even though it is right infront of him.
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
He points to grass on sides “Let’s not go through that or that “ lol
pointing out weather (storm cells)
Are you a Dutch ?
Coal burning, soot spewing, thunder tube.....
Is that Delta or what MD 80 is that???
Delta flew the MD-88. This had a single cue flight director, all the Delta MD-88s had dual cue.
And that will be the only hints😁
Very aggressive captain. Needs to comb down.
Not aggressive, the flight probably got delayed and the Captain was annoyed.
Hand too close to thrust levers after V1 called. You're committed at that point.
He's "guarding" the throttles in case of inadvertent thrust reduction by the autothrottle.
@@adamant365 I didn't know that, but makes sense. The position of his hand lets him push the throttles forward but not pull them back.
@@adamant365 btw does the md80 have an autothrottle that moves the levers automatically like the Boeing 737?

@@Josh.Davidson hmm interesting, and during flight how does the autothrottle control the throttle?
