    As someone who probably falls on the loyalist side, I've actually fought alongside quite a few chaosdivers and they're really chill people. If I meet one doing a major order, I'll 100% be down to drop where they want, especially if it means I get to fight the bots.
    So glad this video exists to clear up the misunderstandings

    • @Jam0kid
      @Jam0kid  21 день назад +30

      Thank you for saying so. Loyalist or not, we're all playing the same game and are a team. Playing with an actual Chaosdiver is fun, because we're really chatty; lots of callouts, lots of suggested tactics, inquisitive like "How are you on ammo, need a call in?" or "Heads up because we were in a scuffle, your turrets are off cooldown now". I personally drop into game in super heavy EOD kit, bring orbital smoke, ballistic shield or match someone's support pack so I can team reload them. Nobody goes out of their way to really do that and it feels good having someone literally have your back- Making YOU shine.

    • @mitchellbarton7915
      @mitchellbarton7915 21 день назад +3

      @Jam0kid That's a really good setup, I like to run the orbital rail, the commando, emancipator, and shield. (Though I've been trying to switch it up a little more for a bit more versatility.) But I like running anti armor and demolition. If it's big, ugly, or important to the bad guys, just sick me on it. XD
      Edit: for armor I personally like Democracy protects cause I can get away with some REALLY stupid or awesome shit. But yeah, it's woefully underrated to use the co-op weapons as co-op weapons. It's a lot of fun if you can get the flow going. I try, but I fumble and have to go shock trooper mode. Lmao, what armor do you run?

    • @Jam0kid
      @Jam0kid  21 день назад +6

      @@mitchellbarton7915 Marshmallow suit sometimes, I'm normally rolling heavy on the bot front so I bring something with explosive resistance and try to be a wall for my squad. I'd like to bring anti-small equipment, but the AMR for me does wonders in a pinch because I like to keep enemies either at a massive distance or in my face behind a ballistic shield in a smoke cloud. But yeah, give smoke grenades a whirl- I've found that blocking MG turrets on bots and rushing is a good tech. For bugs, smoke is good to get them off your tail; just make sure there's no hunters and you can run through the smoke, lose them and then attack them from a better position. I don't think I've brought something that can blow up outposts for the last like 5 missions, but I use spare ballistic shield drops on what needs to be taken down in a pinch :)

      Yeah, it'd be good. But while it's preferred to not fight bots while they're so close to Super Earth, if you'd like to fight the bots there's no reason why you can't. Sometimes you'll have friends invite you to play, sometimes you'll just feel like you want to fight the bots or the only planet with modifiers that aren't horrible are the map that works against the Chaos Order.
      If you feel like you're conflicted, I'd check in with the community and ask them "Hey.. I want to play on this map, but aren't we trying to avoid this map?", chances are they'll tell you to do what you enjoy before what progresses the Chaosdiver's goals.
      But yes; if the Automatons were close to Super Earth, there will be a general sentiment to navigate to the bug front, even if there is an active Major Order there. There may be a Chaos Order on the bug side in direct conflict with the Major Order, so I suppose observing the Chaos Order for something you'd like to participate in would be the starting point there.

But saying that you don't like roleplaying in the game is far more stupid in my opinion. You have an interesting world with interesting lore and a great humor and want that all to go to waste by playing the game like just another hoardshooter? Your loss buddy!
    There is nothing wrong with what you do. It's just like in politics: The true problem are the radicals doing the dumb-dumb. But if you meet a loyalist on the battlefield it's part of HIS roleplay to look at you all as the same traitor scum...😏

      If I play with pubs, I keep it to myself and just have fun. I used to love when the deployable mines didn't alert enemies to your position because you could lead them out of outposts into the mines, which gave you a way to get in and also drew more into the mines because the explosions were loud.
      It's a shame the optics are as they are on the Chaosdivers because of griefers. I miss when people used to roleplay, like week 1 of the game where everyone was "FOR DEMOCRACY!" on the forums and stuff. That was roleplay and the more time went on, the more those people's passions died out. It's my hope this video can at least give people context, so they can hate the Chaos Divers correctly- Because they love Super Earth and not because they think we just teamkill

    Some people do wanna see it as sabotage, and some who directly participate in Major Orders on either side think the other (bot or bug participators during a order of an opposing side) is "throwing", but I believe that these divers constantly fighting across the multiple planets are actually doing somethin, and this MO has semi-confirmed that for me.
    The reason I think that is players have been fairly evenly spread over the whole of every open planet on the galactic map and since the start of the MO there have only been 2 attacks, and only on the bug side, no surprise bot takeovers or bugs pushing anywhere weird.

    "A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."

    I don't know anything about Helldivers, RUclips just randomly recommended me this video but
    why call yourselves "Chaos Divers" then? When there is nothing chaotic about it. With the way you described their way of doing things they almost can't get more square than this. What's chaotic about following all orders and doing everything a person expects of you exactly in the way they want you to?
    You couldn't even get discharged out of the military with this attitude, if in Hacksaw Ridge he just said well i don't WANT to kill people but if i have to i will, then nobody would care and there would be no story.
    The average person irl is more chaotic and revolutionary than this.
    If you want to do some roleplay you got to commit a little bit more to the bit.

      Fun at the expense of others isn't fun worth having. We keep the actual subversive actions in a bubble, the rp-chat channel on the discord. That, or we drop with other Chaos Divers and work on our orders for the cause. If there was an in-game way to directly work against Super Earth, that is ALL we would do- However, we have to work within the confines of the systems set in place by Arrowhead. In short, if you want actual Chaos Diver story arcs and content the best place to visit would be the discord. You don't need to be a Chaos Diver to join and look around, you can be loyal to Managed Democracy and we'll make you feel welcome all the same because it's a game and we're all in the same boat. Thanks for the comment, InterDylan- Have a great day today :)

    • @InterDylan
      @InterDylan 16 дней назад +1

       @Jam0kid Oh man what a great and considerate response :)
      But i disagree, fun at the expense of others is great actually.
      It allows you and them to achieve peak roleplaying potential.
      The point of roleplay as i know it, is to be able to experience what it would be like to be your fictional character in your fictional setting.
      But sadly you have to fake all the consequences and most of the emotions since in essence you are just writing the story on pen and paper.
      Now games with their ability to simulate stuff and their randomness due to multiplayer can massively enhance this experience.
      So if you want to create a great roleplaying experience ideally you should do it with other people and simulate it in software so it comes to life.
      If you lose a battle you don't have to roleplay being upset, you are actually upset now since you tried to win and if it's a comprehensive simulation
      you have to deal with the greater consequences of losing this one battle in the war.
      This is why i used to play on anarchist-lite Minecraft servers, or Faction servers or would play "Rise of Nations" on roblox.
      Or even just play singleplayer strategy games.
      In these games you play matches that can take from a couple hours to multiple days or even months.
      It's a massive struggle to overcome the other players or nations and to end up victorious.
      It sucks to lose and to struggle, and it can get tedious after like 10 hours of losing but that makes victory even sweeter.
      There is no roleplaying as nation in a war without stories about struggle or domination.
      Stories about enslaving your opposition and forcing them to be mere puppets or stories of you fighting the entire world because they declared an unjust war
      against you and almost not even losing is really one of the greatest roleplay experiences you can have imo.
      Making people suffer is great fun because you can feel like what it would be like to be a conqueror like Genghis Khan.
      And it's great because it allows people to roleplay what it would be like to fight against unwinnable odds.
      Now some people arent up for suffering for the sake of a greater story so i do agree that it should be kinda voluntary
      Like PVP servers in World of warcraft or making custom Faction or Anarchist servers in Minecraft.
      But imo fun at the expense of others, greatly enhances the experience and is definitely worth having.

      @@InterDylan Don't worry, my favourite game is probably Spec Ops: The Line and I've certainly had a Spec Ops: The Line moment playing Edge of The Empire TTRPG before. Our party went down a turbolift unsure of whatever was on the other side, but we knew it probably wasn't good since we were in a pirate's lair sort of deal. So I spin up my VX-Sidewinder rotary auto-blaster as the doors open and gun down maybe 80-90 civillians and 10 hostiles rolling crit after crit to trigger autofire.
      What I'm trying to say is that I never did that to my team and the storyteller still had to narrate the consequences; we certainly found out later that what we did was unforgivable, but in-character we justified it as 'acceptable casualties to complete the mission'. HD2 is a team game and having someone on your team kill you out of the blue is an experience that wrenches you out of the enjoyment completely- Having spent so much time learning that team play is required, reloading your friends, supplying them.. It feels really rough because you can't opt-in to PVP. You can't opt-out of having someone join your game to grief.
      The layer of abstraction we have between the game and the stories we're telling on the discord is important, because as I say in the video we leave our "Vera Libertas" shit at the door when we play the game publicly. I don't know the exact views of the other members of the Chaos Divers, but my vibe is "Enemy of Managed Democracy, humanity". It gives you wiggle room to be a good player, wiggle room to also justify war crimes paving your road of good intentions.
      I do agree with you that insurgency roleplay type stuff doesn't have a whole lot of feedback in the game but that's because if we did just teamkill everyone and get kicked, we achieved nothing but building contempt for the Chaos Divers. We didn't earn samples, we didn't earn XP. You might've had fun gunning down your teammates, sure, but you could already be someone nobody wants to play with without the Chaos Divers if someone wanted to play that way.
      Sorry for the meaty response, too. While I don't share your view, I'm glad you shared it with me. I hope some day the game can have an opt-in/opt-out system for this sort of thing, but Arrowhead doesn't wanna add PVP at all.
      I had a discussion with some people earlier in #general about how this would be added on a technical level, and we thought about "When you return to your ship after a thaw, you awaken in an abandoned research station far from any S.E.A.F outposts and have to either call for rescue from S.E.A.F, or follow a trail of PDA's which outline all the bad stuff they're doing to basically new game+ into a totally separate ranking system which is anti Super Earth". So basically categorizing the players programatically as either friend or foe to Super Earth and bunching players accordingly in matchmaking, having a toggle in your settings to allow hostile incursion just like invasions in Dark Souls. But it's all hypotheticals and stuff like that, what-ifs and what-abouts. As we are now, we mainly just keep our war crimes to rp-chat and not disturb the peace in game with public players.

    • @InterDylan
      @InterDylan 16 дней назад

      @@Jam0kid Yeah i totally get what you mean, the game just isn't designed for it, it's specifically designed against it with how much it focuses on PVE. But you guys clearly love the lore or setting and so if you want to play the game whilst role-playing you have to make a compromise.
      Can i ask you something about TTRPG's since you mentioned that you have played one of those before.
      I always wondered, the internet seems to hate when you use self-inserts, is this actually true that people dislike that?
      Like i said i think the point of role-playing is to experience something you can't/don't want to experience in real life.
      Really i'm just here for the "role" part in role-playing. I don't really care to be anyone else, i think someone on Reddit dissed that as "wish-fulfillment".
      I only really role-play alone and of course i do act as a character but the character is really just me with a different family and role. (I'm my own OC lol :D)
      I always wanted to try table top RPG's someday but i'm thinking that they might just not be for me and that i should stick to sandboxy videogames instead. What do you think, is my perspective just antithetical to a good table top RPG experience?

    • @Jam0kid
      @Jam0kid  15 дней назад

      @@InterDylan Haha! There's some horror stories out there about self inserts that try to be the main character. You can still basically be you but be your character, if that makes sense; just have fun and don't justify dogging your party with "It's what my character would do" and you'll be fine. There's no reason you can't just play a beginner game to get a vibe, there's heaps of places to find groups to play with. Give "Looking for D&D group" a google, you'll probably find a bunch of stuff- Or you can physically go to a local games store which more than likely already has a squad rolling some sort of drop in / drop out games. You'll do great, mate; once you start roleplaying, even as a character like you, you'll find you end up making them a lot more different than you thought.

    Just to add a perspective to this whole thing:
    If you will continue to support the collective effort once it aligns with the rule of "being a team player", wouldn't that render this whole chaosdivers thing pointless? If you're just helping with the MO sometimes doing other things sometimes, that would just make you the average player with a life outside the game and not a chaosdiver, or rather just a helldiver but red. Where does the whole "reaction to the nerfs", and "our arms rendered useless by the ones we trusted" discourse falls in all this?
    You know I'm not too happy with getting shot dead right at the extract after spending an hour maximizing the mission rewards either but this feels like a castration of the whole chaosdivers trend more than anything. It was annoying but it was interesting.
    I don't really know what I would like to see here tbh but there is having our helldivers version of the horus heresy and then just having yet another roleplayers group with one sided mods to adorn their screens and I definitely know which one I would prefer. It's not the latter.

    Interesting! I will admit, I did fall into that trap of believing that chaosdivers were simply griefers or people who hated the game based on the various nerfs. But you admittedly opened my eyes and allowed me to see that this is actually a really cool thing! I think that such a movement is actually positive for the game, by promoting player engagement. If i had to assign myself to a faction, it'd probably be the (non existing) "doom divers". Basically we just want to kill as many enemies as possible, but don't let the name fool you, we're not going to play solo, teamwork is a top priority for a doomdiver, but let's just say that we might not run away from a breach to cheese it and despawn the enemies. It's unlucky our guns are pretty much toys, nothing compared to what our big brother Slayer gets.

    Although the Chaos Orders thing feels a bit pointless as you're still doing them, just passively. Like unless you lone wolf away from your squad alot (which you won't because of the team player rule), you'll still kill the same amount of Titans.
    I also think naming the faction after chaos attracts griefers and associations with such people due to chaos being perceived maliciously.
    Perhaps better names would involve terms more highlighting the passivity and supportiveness of the faction rules or how they are, by my understanding, a resistance group.
