    Video Transcript:
“If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. It is one of the most common emotions in our society. Here are seven ways to get beyond overwhelmed!
    1. Take a walk. Exercise clears our minds. It literally helps our minds rearrange thoughts and ideas in our minds, relieves stress, and releases happy hormones in our bodies.
    2. Talk to someone. Just telling someone what we are experiencing can change everything. Even leaving a voicemail saying, “Hey, Just wanted to chat, feeling so overwhelmed today!” can be liberating.
    3. Do. Delete. Delegate. Divide your to-do-list into these three categories. Divide and conquer. This will help you focus on what’s essential.
    4. Tidy your space. Organizing your work or living space has a way of reorganizing our thoughts and feelings too.
    5. Ask for help. It’s a sign of strength and genius, not a sign of weakness.
    6. Cancel everything that is non-essential on your schedule for a day or two, or a week if that is what is required
    7. Do something. Start doing something, don’t allow feeling overwhelmed to paralyze you. Inaction will only take you deeper into the overwhelmed state. Pick one thing on your to-do list and do it. It’s amazing how taking purposeful action can shift the momentum of your day.
We all get overwhelmed from time to time. This isn’t the last time it’s going to happen to you, but it is time to develop a strategy to deal with it.
In Part Two of this Series we will discuss 10 Things We Forget When We Feel Overwhelmed."

I have two tattoos. My first is a tribute to my family, a celebration not a trauma response. But the other I got after my husband died at age 58. It says, “I only miss you when I’m breathing.” So definitely a response to trauma. I’m 63 now and they bring me happiness and comfort.

I do not have a tattoo. I just have never wanted one, recognizing that once it's there, you can't easily change your mind and getting it removed is expensive and not easy. I have had trauma in my life (who hasn't), but not so devastating that I haven't been able to deal with it, and I've always had a strong support system in my family and God.

Just a few years ago I would have told you I would never get a tattoo and was not pleased when my daughters did so. Well, I turned 60 a week ago, on my birthday my three daughters and I each received a dragonfly tattoo. Each dragonfly is different and in a different place on our bodies. These were designed by my artistic middle daughter with inspiration & input from each of us.
Dragonflies were a favorite creature of my brother Kevin. He passed away unexpectantly, 5 years ago when he was only 49 years old. And yes, I would agree, losing a sibling is traumatic.
Now dragonflies often appear on special family occasions, like a reminder he is still with us. I lit a candle after mass for him shortly after he passed. That evening my yard was filled with literally 100s of dragonflies. And yes, I saw one on my birthday this year!

I got my tattoo when I was 57, in Key West. I had planned to get one 10 years prior while in Maui but was influenced by the critical words of a male associate. He didn't know I was planning to get a tattoo. His critical/judgmental words of his feelings regarding women who get tattoos made me change my mind. 10 years later, I STILL WANTED a tattoo. I chose a compass with a key. I DO NOT AGREE WITH FREUD. Not in my case, at least. My tattoo has been admired and criticized. A sister-in-law called it disgusting... For me, however, it represents my courage and clarity in knowing my direction in life. It has a cross in the center. Always a reminder that Christ is forever my direction.

I do not have a tattoo. But when my sweet doggy Max, an Alaskan malamute part wolf passed away of cancer I was devastated. He was my everything. I was grateful that God gave him to me. He was gentle and kind and loving to everyone. At age 7 I found out he had melanoma cancer, put him through treatment five days a week for five weeks of radiation, and two years later it went to bone cancer five weeks after I discovered that he passed away. It was them that I thought about getting a tattoo and I would put it on the left side of my body because my heart is there right underneath my armpit, but right across from my chest I wanted to put his name with a Purple Heart. So yes, I do think it’s internal Trauma. Then I realized I didn’t need to do that. I just needed to allow myself as long as it needs to be to grieve for the loss of my sweet son. And yes he’s a dog but he was my son and I know what it’s like to have gone through having someone having cancer. I believe God brought us together for a reason and Max taught me so many lessons, and I am so grateful that I was his mama. Thank you Matthew for alway
s Helping us draw closer to our dear Sweet Lord

I do not have any tattoos, however I have many friends who do. I can understand and appreciate those that get them to honor someone or something that is very important to them. I try not to be judgemental, but, I have seen people whose whole bodies are covered in tattoos. I know it is considered an art form, and people are free to express themselves, perhaps to make a statement - besides being very expensive.
We have a young male friend, good-looking, friendly, etc., who had his whole body tattooed -top of his head to his feet. It did not change his personality or inner self, but, what changed was the way people looked at him and became very judgmental. Maybe, because I am in my fourth quarter of my life, I am not receptive to the "new ways" of the world. I'm happy with the old ways!

I have a small sunflower tattoo on my ankle...I got it right before I turned 30 about 25 years ago. I always heard that if you put a sunflower in a darkroom, then poked a small hole in the wall where light would shine, you would almost see the flower turn to the light! It's just my reminder to always try to find the light in every dark situation.

This is kind of crazy - I just got a tattoo a little over a week ago. My first and only. I am 49 years old. This tattoo is representative of SO MUCH for me. My mother passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was 3 years old. I am the youngest of 5. My tattoo is a double tulip. Twenty years ago before my husband and I got married we were at the cemetery and a tulip with 2 heads was blooming on her grave. It became so significant for me. It went on to symbolize other things over the years as well. I'd be happy to go into more detail. I have a picture of the actual flowers, another double headed tulip that I saw this year, and of course pictures of my tattoo.

I've got two. Neither is on public display. One is a small, horse's head that lives under my watch band. It's only for me, as a reminder of my horse who died at the age of 29 after we'd spent 25 years together. To some extent, I guess the trauma of his death motivated me. But it was more a celebration of his life. My other tattoo is a reminder of my many joyful trips to Rome. No trauma there at all. Just a reminder of happy memories and future joyful trips to come for me. I think tattoos often commemorate strong emotion, which can be grief/trauma or belonging/joy.

I agree with Freud. I got my 2 tatoos after turning 55, in a year after my kids left for college and I was really processing trauma from 7 years prior. My 1st tatoo is a heart evolving into a cross, with the words “just breath”, a reminder that love and Jesus are the answer to processing the trauma, and reminding me to breath through the struggles. My second tatoo is of a dragonfly elegantly flying with water, depicting my evolution into a Christ Centered human with my favorite calming natural environment, water.

The butterfly represents me, the heart around it is me healing from a massive heart attack at age 35. The 2 small butterflies and dragon fly represent my children. But, as I have been to beaches in the summer, I see that many people have tattoos and are unembarrassed to display them. I do not understand how I could make a decision about permanent body art when I was, say, 20, and not regret it when I was 40. Since I do not have tattoos, I guess I am disqualified from commenting on Sigmund Freud's opinion regarding tattoos.

Collage students sometimes get tatoos to celebrate some event in their lives, like a challenge they met. I think tatoos express some strong opinion or feeling one wants to remember. It is an outward expression of inner feelings and/or memory. I do not have a tatoo, but I have been with many unitversity students who have gotten tatoos when I was with them abroad. It is an expression of inner self. Since people change every ten years or so, I think I should go into the tatoo removal business! I'm sure it is lucrative even now.

It was something we planned and wanted to do together and we both got an anchor on the inside of our wrist. We love boats and water but for us it also means we are anchored in our faith and to each other. Getting a tattoo was not at all the result of some inner trauma so for me I would have to disagree with Freud and I believe my husband would disagree with Freud as well. I do know others however; who have gotten one because of a trauma and it is something that is a comfort to them of surviving. I believe that there is not one opinion that fits all.

I don't have one. I am 70. Not sure I believe about the trauma and Freud(?).. A co worker had one very tiny delicate looking on her forehead near the hair line as if wearing a green wreath made of vine with a pink flower in the center. It was lovely. Because I can't decide what and where, I haven't got one.

I have two tattoos. The first one is a butterfly on my shoulder. I got that when my mother passed away. The second one is the word "always " on my left inner bicep. It's in my dad's handwriting directly from his birthday card to me. I did that tattoo after he passed away. I do have childhood trauma of sexual abuse, but don't see the connection to my tattoos.

I don’t have a tattoo but it seems to me that persons that do just aren’t happy with their body the way God made it. Years ago there was a movie called the Illustrated Man with Rod Steiger who was covered with tattoos and he was a freak. Now it has become “normal.”

I have no tattoos and was not happy when my daughter, who is covered in them, got her first one at age 16 or 17. I feel it started out as a rebellion thing but since she has grown and is in her mid thirties I think it's for self expression. They are very pretty but not something I could do because 1) not in to pain of any kind and 2) I get skin infections really easily. Not worth me taking the risk.

I personally do not have a tattoo but many people I know have them and reasons vary from trauma and a joyous occasion or a symbol of beliefs. If I were to get a tattoo it would be a symbol of my faith. I am concerned about what is in the Ink and do I want to inject it under my skin. Probably not. I'm 66

I have no tatoos and would never get one, however my granddaughters do and they really turn me off. Ond of them used to be the most gorgeous girl ever, and now she is covered with a snake, and other horrid things that I only can imagine why she put on her beautiful body. The other one is not so bad, and has only two rather large butterfllie, she says indicate hope. The both had a lot of "trauma' growing up with a neglecful but however loving mother. My husband and I did the raising of these wonderful girls, who will overcome, I am convinced. Please pray for all of us.

My husband has two.....the first is cause he got into some trouble and ask for God's forgiveness. It's a cross that says God forgive me. His second is on his arm of an Angel with a hamster. It's for our daughter who passed at age of 9 and her hamster pet shortly after. It has Daddy's girl in it with her signature. So yes I believe it trauma/hurt he experienced and his way of telling his story and keeping them close to him always.

I can't speak for others but, yes, my tattoo does reflect a trauma. My tattoo is a Celtic cross. I lost my son, Tom, at age 24. Tom embraced his Irish heritage and although I had been a vocal critic of tattoos, on the first anniversary of Tom's death getting the tattoo seemed the right thing to do.

But we lost so I did not get one. See alot of broken people with tats. See alot of "normal" people with them too. Just being unquie like everybody else.

I personally don't have a tattoo. Why inflict pain into an already painful body.
My daughter has several small tattoos but one in particular is of a baby elephant with two hearts coming out of the trunk to represent the two babies she lost prematurely.
My grand daughter has several as her dad was in the military and they traveled all over so hers are representing the places they lived. She also has one which contains two, will be 3, different types of flowers and will have a total of 3 special says we as grandmothers always say to her. I am her only grandma left.
My son has an eagle on his whole back with his name and his wife's (though he never goes without a shirt, to express freedom.
In the formost tatoo cases id say it is inner grief being expressed,my son's is pride for his service to our country.
I'm not in favor of tattooing your body just cause it's an in thing, but it is their bodies to do with it as they please.

One modest tattoo hidden by normal clothing or a tattooed body including hands and face? Our goal in life is to love God and others and, to do that, we should follow God's expectations. To those with tattoos, please explain how this brings you closer to God. And how it inspires others to come closer to God. I do not have a tattoo nor does anyone in my immediate family.

I have two… one is a tribute to my children and the other is a tribute to Jesus. I don’t agree with Freud at all… my tattoos have nothing to do with trauma, they’re a symbolism for the greatest most permanent things in my life that I’d like to celebrate. My children will always by my children. My God will always be my god.

I do not have a tatoo. Why would anyone do something to their body that is very difficult to undo?? If you believe the body is a temple of God, why would you deface it? I tend to agree with Freud.
