They should make a movie about her. Her story is incredible. ❤️
I think they should too it would be really good for people to see her story in a version of a film to understand her better and to understand disability better
I lost my right leg two years ago and I am probably going to lose my left leg. I needed to see this today.
gregl515 how are you doing now? 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
How are you?
Sending you hugs 🤗

Three gullible PC idiots responded to this ''genuine'' comment! d
From a 73 year old with Parkinson's- Thanks for reminding me that I still have value! God Bless!
I hope you are doing well! My grandma has parkinson's and was able to create art for 10 years after she was diagnosed!
she spilled her heart out and I dropped a couple of tears. Damn humans are amazing sometimes!
For all haters and trolls here: “The most pathetic person in the world is some one who has sight but no vision.”
~ Helen Keller
PC woke agitators stirring up hate,... needless hate and anger.
So-called ''discrimination'' has been grossly exaggerated.
Dial it down you agitators.
I initially saw this speech in my Introduction to Speech Class in college in Chicago. I was having a mini breakdown and completely ready to give up and stop trying to overcome the horrible series of events that seemed to be taking over my life. Professor Serres is an instructor who seems to have figured out how to be happy in life, without sacrificing or compromising. She genuinely seems happy. On the second day of classes, we watched Caroline Casey's video as an example of how to not let perceived limitations hold us down. I saw this video at the peak of my mental/emotional distress. By the end, I was in class, in full blown tears. I was so inspired, motivated, and empowered that I could not contain my reaction. That class was last Thursday, and I've shared this video with, literally, dozens of people. I watch it with them, crying each and every time.
Thank you so very much Professor Serres for sharing this with me when I needed it the most. And thank you so very much Caroline Casey for sharing your emotionallly inspiring epiphany!!
12:20 "We're just people, and yet parts of us don't work so well." I LOVE that... SO TRUE!!
this brought me to tears. I am currently going through some very hard times with my visual impairment for the last 19 years. Feelings of distraught, failure, inadequacy has bought me to a place of defeat. She is a deeply moving person ho literally spoke to what I needed most right now.
Hi Sophia,
Byron Katie comes to mind when I read your comment.
With Love Paul
So So Says I’m reading this right now and I hope you are doing a bit better. If you need to chat my email is open to you I have had blindness and visual impairment my whole life. I’ve wrestled at times with it too other times helped others and I’ve been coming to terms with it more as I get older. Just know people care about you like me who never met you. You are worthy.
Dial it down.
"Stop with the limiting labels because we are not jam jars! We are extraordinarily different, wonderful people."
You can hear her heart pumping in the mic. Cool.
I cried through this entire talk. Every word is an inspiration. It was only when I embraced my mental illness that I truly discovered who I am. I've worked at Accenture for 11 years now, and the company has been fantastically supportive of my situation (I was diagnosed in 2004). I'm a co-lead of the Mental Illness and Suicide Support Group for North America, which is a sub-group of our disABILITY Interest Group. A colleague sent me this link knowing how much I'd love it!
Silly tripe.
I was able to hear her speak for a whole hour recently at a conference. TED Talks are great but this is only a glimpse of her passion and compassion and her experiences. If you ever get a chance to see her speak I recommend it.
people who don’t understand how this could happen.. it’s the same as having any sight issues. before i had my eyes tested i thought how i saw was normal. it wasn’t until i was given glasses that i was aware of what i missing.
This is one of the most inspiring Ted Talks I've seen! Thank you for sharing your inspiring story and message. I am not physically disabled, but I've had a dream all of my life that has seemed impossible, yet I never give up. Thank you for reminding me to believe at the deepest level of my being that it is possible. And thank you for showing me how we can make such a difference in the lives and world through revealing our authenticity-being our true selves!
Truly amazing. My friend posted this on his facebook page and I am so glad he did.
Lump in my throat and tearey eyed, but feel inspired. So glad I took the time to watch this. Thank you.
She places her story around finding out she's blind and (re)finding her power. Perhaps her parents made a mistake not telling her, but getting away with being blind not even knowing, for 17 years is amazing too.
Im sitting here crying at how truly meaningful her whole talk was. I cam from Molly's Video, having never heard this womans name before In my life and now it is a name I will never forget.
every second of this, i thought she was going to burst into tears XD lol but very real, moving, inspiring journey she described :)
Witnessed the extended version of this speech today in person....hands down the most awe inspiring moment of my life!!
I was lucky enough to interview her last week. She's fabulous, smart and very funny.
She is so beautiful and inspiring. I love how going after her goals is never even questioned
The way she speaks is so compelling!!
You are amazing, Caroline!! Thank you for sharing your story so beautifully
Caroline Casey you are my hero any time i feel doubt i always come back to this video
As a visually impaired person since birth, this video made me cry. It’s extremely difficult living in a sighted world. It’s incredible to see how vulnerable and open Caroline is about her visual impairment. Sighted people don’t understand what we visually impaired people go through every day. I have my good days and my bad days, everyone does whether you are sighted or not.
Thank you Caroline for being so open, and for sharing your story.
I needed to hear this today. It's amazing how the right message finds you exactly when you need to hear it if you only pay attention. Best birthday gift, hope and inspiration. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Her message is deeply moving. I have had a lot of eye conditions and treatments including multiple laser surgeries, PC IOL and procedures for RD.
I'm color blind and I'm an artist. :)
I felt the same at first but what I got from it was be true to yourself (your passions), and don't limit yourself. A simple message but she was an incredibly engaging speaker, not just with her words but you could hear the passion in her voice.
Being absolutely truly yourself is freedom. You must truly believe from the bottom of your heart
THANK YOU SO MUCH! heart- wrenching and certainly a share worth-while - My students would love this.
One of my favourite TED talks ever. Talk about inspirational. This woman is my hero.
Wow! Such a powerful powerful video! It was affecting me right from the beginning! Truly an amazing woman and a wonderful message!
I love her passion, that was a truly extraordinary talk by an extraordinary lady.
Wow just wow.. I look at myself and have limits and reasons to not push past my barriers. I have it so much easier than she does/did. Good for her!!!!
What a beautiful journey....
From Dark to LIGHT.....
Just people....
How wonderful to know that we are not defined by our disabilities.... but by our BEINGS.
Thank you Caroline for giving a voice to all those who might see but not hear....
My gloucoma is getting worse. I'm depressed right now. I sleep a lot hoping not to wake up with this crappy vision...
And them thoughts of adjusting to this kind of situation came in. I ended up with Shane's video with Molly Burke and then Molly with Caroline Cassey. Then this TED talk. Thank you for pulling me out.
Absolutely awesome!! We can all learn from this !!
Wow she is such a inspiration . Just awesome.
Wow one of the best talks I've heard yet. This is good stuff here. Nothing's impossible if you believe in it.
i am inspired by this talk Caroline. I wanted to be a neurologist when i was young. but i'm old-er, i'm in university studying a totally non related field and drowning in student loans. but u inspired me to believe that it can still be done.....thank you
Very inspiring speech! It's very important to believe in yourself but it is also very important to ask for help if you really need it.
she made my eyes water and gave me the chills!
the message i take from this is our power is in Believing in what you are, after you've faced what you are. vision and maximizing... not delusion. love it.
thank you, i needed this today
@bonzaibb12 I'm a high functioning autistic. The people in my life never hid from me that I was different. They never told me it made me "special". They just treated it like a difference in height. Something that had to be taken into account, but there was no value judgement attached. As a result it's always the person discriminating against me that ends up feeling uncomfortable. I tend to be genuine surprised and dismissive of their attitude, because I'm not worried about who I am.
wow I loved that. We just believe and achieve. We are so afraid to be ourselves when thats what we all should be and never think of others opinions on that. We have to be strong and move forward and pursue great things
Bravo!! Life and its challenges give us the opportunity to be courageous! And when you act from courage... it transforms you... thank you!
Wow, can relate in so many levels
What an amazing woman - incredible story... Entirely inspiring.
Caramba! Quanta paixão! Entusiasmo! Melhor que muitas palestras e cultos...

Thank-you for seeing the point..
Caroline Casey's story is inspirational. She not only makes you want to believe -- she demonstrates the power of believing. Kudos, Caroline.
very moving I have albinism and your right it is exhausting trying to be sighted.
Wow. Thank you. So inspiring. 🙏
Great talk. Great enthusiasm.
You are wonderful & so GREAT!... INSPIRATION!

She is such an amazing woman. Truly inspired me.
acctualy i have to say that´s the first speech on ted woman , that was really good !!!
Bloody brilliant women to be this proud of the person she was is and will ever be. TY for opening MY 👀 👀
I had my hopes up after watching this. And yes, our change into positive transforms won't be unless we give it a shot and try to make our efforts at it.
'the power of believing in the right thing, has just given me the most extraordinary potential'
Hear hear!
@Silenus6 A) I refer you to my 2nd comment near the top.
B) I was answering the comment "how can you dislike this clip?".
C) I don't think she's going to be reading the comments on this, so it doesn't matter much. No doubt she's busy climbing Mount Everest for orphans.
D) I'm not trying to be respectable. I'm expressing a view. This talk makes me depressed, demotivated. I think some will feel alone because they don't understand all these "Inspirational!" comments. I'm with them.
truly amazing.
what a great woman
I LOVE Caroline Casey! How in the world have over 100 people given this a thumbs down?
She's talking about learning to accept & be herself & do what she loves, no matter what the 'disability.' She is really great, isn't she?
u r so inspirational , and just GREAT
Goddammit she is an incredible speaker. I'm crying!
I am who I am because of who we all are ❤️💪
Inspirational - excellent talk - you rock!
Absolutely inspiring.
The same thing can be applied to school
If schools give us a bad score and it makes us depressed. The problem is not about your intelligence, it's about you believing you're stupid
she's far more amazing that i will ever be :) she has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of :)
Thank you
absolutely incredible
wonderful lecture,i like it!
I had to die to learn what she learned while living. Bravo Caroline Casey
thank you Caroline
Great video. Very inspiring
Great talk
Wow. She is a beautiful person, inside and out. That speech was pure vulnerability. Very inspiring. 100% truth. Top 3 TED talks for sure.
This woman is plain amazing.
Excellent!
So inspirational
This is amazing
inspiring...only disabled people can feel and understand what she is speaking. I am suffering from an ACL injury and have been limping on one leg and not giving up. not even using a stick to walk. universe lands you up at the right people to hear them out and implement the same belief in life.
cheers and stay motivated and be yourself
goosebumps!!!
VERY TRUE WHAT SHE SAID ABOUT BELIEF IT COLD TAKE YOU VERY FAR...
