    Transcript:
Maybe you never got around to introducing a bottle or you were too busy getting breastfeeding on track. Or, you didn't see the point of offering a bottle since you could always count on your baby and your breast being in the same place at the same time, or close enough that you'd never miss a feed. Or, you figured you'd get around to introducing a bottle when you needed to, and you just realized, you need to. Either because you're going back to work or trying to schedule your first date night in months, or both.
If you're lucky, your little suckler will take to the bottle like an old friend, eagerly lapping up the contents. Or he may stubbornly snub the bottle crying indignantly every time you push the nipple between his unwilling lips, refusing even a taste.
Sound familiar? Let's face it, your baby wasn't born yesterday, and unlike a relative newcomer, she's already developed a strong sense of what she wants and what she doesn't want. What she wants is mommy's soft, warm nipple. What she doesn't want, synthetic substitute you're trying to woo her with.
Enter bottle rejection. The bottle intro is most easily made in the first few weeks of a baby's life. But if that ship has already sailed, it doesn't necessarily mean you've missed the bottle boat entirely. So, let's get started.
First, choose the right nipple. Look for ones that resemble those made by nature with a wide base and a slow flow. Keep in mind that some babies are pretty picky about their nipples, so you may have to experiment to find one that your little bottle snubber will happily accept.
Then, pick the right fluid. Some infants will open wide for a bottle that's filled with familiar breast milk. Others, reminded of breast milk's original source, are more open to formula or a combo. Warming the contents so it mimics straight from the tap breast milk can help too.
Time it right. Babies are usually more receptive to the bottle when they're in the market for something to eat.
Your hungry baby's not taking the bottle bait, in fact, offering a bottle when he's looking for a breast just plain makes him mad? Offer the bottle for dessert or as a snack between feeds. Let your baby get to know the bottle before getting down to business. To explore it, play with it, who knows, even put it in her mouth as she does everything else. Or, try sneaking it in during sleep as your little dreamer is drifting off, or just before he wakes. Once you've gained sleepy acceptance, you can try when baby's alert.
Remember too, that your baby is more likely to take a bottle when breasts aren't in the picture or within sniffing distance. So for best results, anyone but mom, baby's favorite milk machine, should offer the bottle.
Still facing resistance? Try persistence. While your breastfeeding baby may be puzzled by, or even furious at, this unfamiliar milk dispenser, chances are she's eventually going to open up her horizons and her mouth.
In the mean time, keep the pressure off. Even an infant can smell desperation. Offer the bottle once every couple of days, but don't push it. Try to appear blase' about the bottle, even if you're so not. Here's to happy bottle feeding.

    Mothers read my comment:
Your baby WILL take the bottle. Read this again, say it out loud and with confidence, believe it.
It took several weeks and many bottles/nipples later (emulait, nuk, mam, Philips, haakaa) but eventually fully transitioned from total refusal to drinking 32+ ounces a day.
Persistence! Don’t give up! Offer it at least 3x a day and don’t worry if baby refuses it still after a few days. My baby cried and hated the bottle for at least a week straight. Then each day she took a tiny bit more.
Don’t give up. You got this.
(The bottle my baby ended up liking was the haakaa )

I have to stop and feed because she literally screams if I don’t attend to her right away… i will give her the bottle to play since she starting to grab things to put in her mouth! Since she wouldn't take formula at all .. she was on a feeding tube for a little bit (the nazel one) so that's how she got formula into her. Docs didn't know how long she'd be on there, but yet turned around and would ask me like I'm the one who put her on it... I feel like they failed her so I tried whole milk with her at 11m and she took it right away through the straw cup. I told her new doc what I did too and the situation and the doc didn't say anything negative. Just apologized for the trouble the other docs caused and told me I was doing a good job. But, since our second born and our youngest didn't take to a bottle it gives me anxiety. I'd love to be able to pump a good amount and put it in the bottle and maybe substitute with formula IF NEEDED. I just know nothing about how to pump correctly. @@mytran6936
We were able to solve the problem.
      Our situation:
Our girl was suddenly terrified of the bottle. We have twins and her sister had no problem. She had watched the bottle from afar and never let it out of her sight. Our girl is very sensitive and gets frightened very quickly. Babies have a different logical mindset than we adults do. We assume that at some point she associated a traumatic experience with the bottle. E.g. choked on the milk too often while drinking or we pushed her too hard to drink.
Unfortunately, she cannot drink from her breast either.
We talked to the midwife, the doctor and even the hospital. Nobody knew what could help and had only advised not to feed her for a day and that she would accept the bottle the next day because she was hungry.
      We tried, but no chance.
She screamed, cried and sucked on everything except the bottle from being so hungry.
A midwife recommended that we get teats with a larger hole and a higher flow rate because the Baby might be frustrated of less flow she thought. But that had only made it worse because she choked even more while drinking.
We did our own research and experimented ourselves.
      *Here are our results:*
      a) Let starve for a day until she accepts the bottle: No.
      b) Larger suction cup with a higher flow rate: No.
      c) We had turned off the light and closed the windows. So as dark as possible. That worked for a moment. At some point she understood that and first felt with her hand whether it was the bottle (clever girl) and tried it with her tongue. Then she understood that we set her up. We also tricked her by putting our finger in her mouth, because she accepts the feeling of skin. And fast changing the finger by the bottle. This worked only once. The midwife said later that we shouldn't fool and trick Baby in order to get them to do something. This could led to more problems. So... No.
      d) We have ordered so many different bottles and teats from different brands. She had accepted the teats made of natural rubber best. You can usually only find them on special pages on the Internet. Preferably the broad ones. The natural rubber material reminds the Baby more of the mother's breast.
At least a she drink little better.
      e) What worked best was waiting for her to fall asleep. But do not feed while she sleeps in the middle of the night. Everyone has advised against this, as sleep must be undisturbed at night in order to produce growth hormones.
We always used the moment when she just closed her eyes and fell asleep. Then she drank wonderfully. e.g. I put her on my lap and weighed her to sleep. The bottle is ready. As soon as she dozed off, I gave her the bottle.
In the morning I got her out of bed without waking her up. I didn't changed her diaper but gave her the bottle straight away before she really wakes up. Most of the time she was half asleep or still asleep. After her drinking I change her diaper.
That is why we coordinated the feeding and nap times during the day.
She still didn't drink like she used to, but now at least we didn't have to worry anymore and slowely she lost the fear of the bottle.
It was also important that we always combined the feeding time when she woke up with fun. Smile, cuddle, stroke, talk fondly to keep the feeding in a more positive memory.
From the fifth month we slowly started with complementary foods (carott or pumkin and meat porridge). She eats that with no problem. And we make sure that she doesn't have any negative experiences here. No stress while eating. Fun. Love. And be careful that she doesn't choke and that she likes the taste of her meals.
      Further information:
We worried about malnutrition. We were told that first of all it is important that she eats enough food to at least not become dehydrated. Of course, that always depends on the weight of the child. At that time ours weighed about 5 kg and we should have a minimum of 300-400 ml. The more the better.
It is important that you write down and document your feedings and amounts as well as the times as best you can and discuss them with your pediatrician.
      Greetings from Germany

Shame on you for the tsk tsk. Pumping breast milk and bottle feeding go hand in hand. This isn't a formula-only issue. Not all mothers can stay home all day with their babies, most need to work. Most mothers would like to have a date night with their partner and leave the baby with a caregiver for a few hours. Not all mothers produce enough to continue to breastfeed. Why a breastfed baby needs to be bottle fed has many different reasons and you don't need to shame those mothers that must.

I was part of a large group of mothers all with the same outcome when going back to work.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to comment such a negative opinion on a video clearly intended for mothers that for some reason or another are having trouble with getting their littles to take a bottle while they are away. As if they aren't stressed enough. Support mothers trying to do their best for themselves and their babies, don't turn your nose up and act as if you are so much better.
