Your baby is all smiles this month, and chances are, you will be too. Welcome to month four, the beginning of what most seasoned parents would describe as the golden age of babyhood: several months, or even more, of pure baby bliss. Bye bye, baby blob stage. See you later, screaming sessions. Hello bundle of expansive, responsive baby joy, smiles for miles, delight for days, personality plus, plus, plus.
And here's another plus: your newly social butterfly is still not independently mobile, which means she'll mostly stay where you put her, and as long as she has your attention, she's likely more than happy to do so. And as if that's not enough yummy to melt you into a pool of lovestruck slush, just wait until you hear the world's most delicious sound: your baby squealing, and even giggling. And it won't take much silliness to get that glee going, either.
Baby's an easy audience, and an eager performer. No more awkward face plants. Your baby will most likely be able to lift his head 90 degrees when he's on his belly, thanks to all that tummy time practice you've given him.
Other amazing milestones to look for, your baby will anticipate being lifted when you reach to pick her up, and she'll practically jump for joy as you do. She'll also likely be able to turn in the direction of a sound, like the sound of your very familiar voice, and soon, if she hasn't already, be able to roll over at least one way. Belly to back typically comes first. Watch your wriggler closely, so she doesn't roll into trouble.
You can help encourage these and other fantastic physical feats by continuing to offer plenty of supervised tummy time, but don't stop there. At playtime, get your baby moving by raising his hands up and down over his head, and back to that roly-poly belly. Add some activity into those endless diaper changes, too, by bicycling those dimply legs in a rhythmic way.
Adding to the joy, a new love of toys. Play gyms and activity mats, of course, but also sensory toys that trill or squeak or tweet or rattle when pressed or shaken. High on the fan favorite list are toys that play music, especially in reaction to your baby's movements, and because your little one is reaching for toys now, she'll especially adore any playthings she can grasp onto and shake.
Also this month is some welcome news for sleep-deprived parents. Some babies, but certainly not all, are able to sleep longer stretches at night. Think six to eight hours at a time. There's a really wide range of normal, but you can hopefully expect your sweet snoozer to take anywhere from two to four daytime naps, each lasting anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours. Baby's total sleep per 24-hour day, around 14 to 16 hours, still leaving plenty of time to play the day away. Here's to a happy fourth month.

Mommies, all babies are different. All moms who have had more than 1 baby can attest to this. My first is almost completely opposite to my second. Use the info on this video as a guideline but your baby may still be catching up or a little ahead with the sleep and development.
Don't compare your baby to the babies of people commenting here who you don't even know. You have no idea about their day to day circumstances and past experiences.
Love your babies and do best for them.

Their adjusted age is only about 3 months now, but they’re almost completely on track with 4 month old development. They’re my 5th and 6th children(3rd and 4th biological, I adopted my 2 stepchildren 😊) and they’ve made the most perfect addition to our family. So eternally grateful for the blessing of rare identical twins and I’m just so in love with my babies, they’re pretty much perfect in my eyes 💕

So I stopped trying with the naps and just got out of the house more if she naps she naps it's up to her She was also so grumpy about it all now she naps for 30 mins 4 times a day and has 10 to 11 hours at night and she's a happy smiley baby reaching all her milestones early ❤

My son just turned 4 months. He went through a sleep regression at 3 months, and now seems like he’s doing it again. He won’t stop
Crying when I put him down and refuses naps

My daughter is 3 months and we're going through a rough sleep regression. She was sleeping all night from 8pm-7am, waking every 4 hours for meals. Now she's fighting naps and staying up until 1 or 2 am. She's smiling so that helps with the frustration.

Yeah that’s why I came to this video, it’s been a tough couple of weeks so far. He was down to 1 feed a night but now back to 2. Crying for most of the day, upset belly, very windy the list go on. Hoping this phase go quick 😬

    • @I_am_Spartacus
      @I_am_Spartacus 2 года назад +2

Yeah totally agree! The 4mth mark is meant to be one of the hardest as they suddenly regress yet she mentions nothing of this. Our boy is suddenly sleeping more, eating less but often and then suddenly wails for no reason....

Yes! I was just thinking that a lot of parents might be searching for assurances and help and a video saying it’s easy and great now might make them think there’s something wrong.

My mom gives my baby sister no tummy time. So she decided to do it by her self every 10 seconds my mom was away doing something. And also she laughs when i tell her by a literal operation i was going to have. I'm still recovering (hint: it's the cut)

My first is waaaaaaay different than my second. My newest member is a good sleeper, My first baby is almost 2 and still sucks at sleeping lol. She's never been a good sleeper and it got way worse at 4 months with my first. My second baby just hit 4 months and is a good sleeper. I'm lucky in that category but my firstborn hates naps amd bedtime with a passion.

My bubs is turning 4 months on the 25th and she's been sleeping 8-12 hours and then about 5 days ago there was a shift and now bedtime is a struggle 😅 Pretty sure its her teeth. But man why is my 4 month old extra extra busy ... literally 😩 Her limbs never stop moving and she's almost panting like a puppy she's so busy 😂😂
