The issue with Rakim, KRS1 & Kane is that during that time those 3 more than any others were consider 1,2,& 3 as Lyricist, and they all most likely measured themselves against each other, just like the fans of each of them did with the other 2. Let's be honest, with no disrespect to KRS, but Kane and Rakim would have out shined him on his own project.
    Hands down.

Hell naw. LL didn't like the beat and Rakim was hanging around to many street dudes at the time. KRS ONE is a dope all-time great MC and would never be scared of competition.

Rakim was not on Self Destruction because of the goons he associated with at the time i.e the real 50 cent! KRS One thought having Rakim on the track would be a walking contradiction to the message of the song.. LL did not feature due to his management & beef with Kool Mo Dee!

He basically said why - it would not be in support of the image that he already had after having been away for a minute. If he came back talking that 60's talk, he would be grouped in with the Public Enemy, KRS, Paris and other blak panther-like rappers. You can't grow with that image and like P.E., you get STUCK having to keep talking that talk.

Self destruction was a black song for black people LL didn't appear on it because he's white bosses told him it would tarnish his image to this day LL never made a rap song promoting black positivity he's a good rapper but not even close to being #1 he should of been on the album.
