Underground Detention Systems are installed beneath redeveloped surfaces, so that more space above ground can be used for other various purposes. They are designed to take in runoff water and store it within the system, releasing it gradually into underground streams to prevent flooding and other damage to underground waterways, and therefore damage to watersheds.
