I enjoy listening to Jill Jones recaps of her time with Prince and the others from that timeframe in the 80's. That is when I was really deep into all of the Minneapolis music that Prince had a hand in. Jill does not mince words and I appreciate the honesty. I really hope one day soon that she, Jesse Johnson, Andre Cymone, Morris Day and Jimmy Jam could all be interviewed in the same room at the same time and just let them go...answering any and all questions, or just having conversations about their time as musicians, before, during and after being in Prince's camp. (Notice how all the musicians Prince worked with are well spoken and professional individuals? That speaks volumes too).

Thank you, Jill. What you said at 47:51 really resonated with me. There are so many people that I supported... I stood in the background... I watched them shine... and I never even got a "thanks."

Really good, hope she finds a way to forgive herself for voluntarily holding on so long to Prince while not being priority and knowing his heart was with others. Ppl get star stuck. A lot of pain still there and not sure I agree with her personal analysis of everything however really hope she can heal.

Thanks for sharing, Most people don't understand how painful it is to give your heart to someone, All of your prime years, believing it is forever. And one day someone new walks into the room, and you're handed your heart back. Later on you think "It was all a waste of time ". My time. I understand. And with prince it happened over and over again. He was a heart breaker. But we still love him, doesn't mean we can forget it.

I don’t get why she fell in love though? He didn’t seem to feel the same, she was never a main girlfriend he took in public or made love songs about and she knew it , she knew how he felt about all the other women but she attached herself to him and played her role. I don’t get her, I’m sorry. She seemingly was sleeping with him knowing Susan Moonsie, Vanity, Susannah M, Kim Bassinger, etc was the main girlfriend. He never seemed to lie to her about that. He definitely cared about her, her back grounds vocals were helpful and she said they had lots of fun but not sure why she stayed or fell in love, she confuses me.

Great interview. Those foundational years are the best. Love everything upfront and behind the scenes about them.
But it was Prince that went to Sheana Easton, she didn't come take anything from anyone. I know there were songs that Prince intended for Jill, and gave to Sheena and Sheila E but it was Prince.
Prince surrounded himself with all ethnic groups because it's his prerogative to get the best for what he needed.
Jill has to know she looks European easily. Prince was fair/mixed genetically, and he was just attracted overall to his reflection ie Susan, Vanity, Jill, Sheila E etc

Prince influenced many of us musically, along with his camaraderie of talented friends and associates...as the very intelligent and lovely Jill. Enjoyable video!!!💯

Jill has been my favorite since she was crying in purple rain because I KNEW i was watching a Rock Pic, and that the characters were people he knew were trying to act. Jill seemed different and I believed her performance and then to know that she was part of the band in real life! She was Prince's little hidden gem for awhile and I feel like that had to hurt her in real life. I follow her on socials because i like her bold personality. She was the best actor in Purple Rain.

Takeaways: Prince was a low-key pimp - used mystique to get what he wanted; he was extremely competitive; loved women yet only really love a few; could be giving and self-serving at the same time. He was truly unique.

That whole time back in 1982 early 83 was a great time for music. Prince had this world that I found fascinating. The girls in New York wasn't rolling like that. I was getting into music and entertainment at that time. Studying Prince was very interesting. Especially for a young man getting into sex and all that. The fantasy aspect of it was the bomb. I actually lived that life he was intimating in Europe. My girlfriends would dress up in lingere and had that look. I really enjoyed. I have pics that validate the world I was into. Surprise to see hw many woman was into it...

I believe most of the visuals of what happened were on Jill. She said she didn't want to be another 'Prince girl'.
Prince wanted her to open for the SOTT tour and be connected, but she wanted to go on her own. The video for Mia Bocca was on her as well.

Why does Jill always make everything about her and her feelings of rejection. She just didn’t have what was needed to make it. The Princes of this world are rare. If you don’t have the work ethics or the drive you only get where you work for.

Jill, I thought that was you singing between the Male singers with the long dress to the calf's. I don't remember the song because the camera was all over the place trying to keep up with prince. At the concert purple rain in New York, I don't know how many times he performed there, probably several. The concert that was released about 6 months ago, with the iconic "purple rain " song when he wore the black head cover. Who was that girl singing back vocals? Anybody know?
