- It's a long boi! Strap in! Join me on this first exploratory mission to determine routing and necessities and get super tilted at the game's Ashlands performance! I opt for fighting Fader straight-up to make sure I could and see how long it would take but we might settle on some type of cheese in future runs. Excited to make this run faster!

It's hilarious to me that you spent a good several minutes just having a troll knock down trees for you instead of chopping wood yourself. Speedrun strat
So, how did you like living in the Skelly Tower compared to your usual meadows shack? The red carpet was a classy touch! It almost felt like the Oscars-‘And the award for fastest Valheim gameplay goes to… ThreadMenace!’
It feels a little less rustic and viking but I ended up liking it OK! Haha, I'd like to thank the Academy and all the fans that have been supporting me for so long!
Such great content as usual...the tilting is not even on the chart compared to me trying to play! So kudos! Especially since you play as a minimalist. It's simply amazing!

the stairs trick so that the enemies cant destroy your bed is so smart im gonna use that now, also "gimme yer eyes!" made me laugh out loud thanks for the vid
haha, thank YOU! The stairs also allow me to slap the bed in the middle of the base but still walk over it even if I"m encumbered, etc. Pretty convenient!
this must be like the 10th playthrough i'm watching, but it always feels fresh, because although the mechanics remain the same, each run comes with its own, individual quirks and memorable moments.
like getting pushed through a portal by your own cart.

Hi! Strategy question, I know it's risky but is there any time gained from getting Molten Cores and Grausten to make stone portals as early as possible? Using a Carve might make it in time to shore before getting melt by the Ashland water.
It would be a big payoff and, barring catastrophe probably not even really be any time loss but I've actually attempted to sail a non-drakkar boat there exactly zero times. I should really look at that. One mistake and the dream is over though

5:44:25 How do you identify that when there'll be fog and when it'll be clear? I mean you were saying that you missed a night, probably you could skip the fog by sleeping I guess? Is there any set weather cast for valheim world days?
The weather is indeed set (jerekuusela.github.io/valheim-weather/ ). But, I don't use this tool ever and I don't have it memorized beyond day 6 or something. Day 2 is foggy in meadows and forest 100% of the time and I try to plan accordingly. Day 6 evening storm in meadows and ocean, gigafog in forest. In the late game though I just operate on the principle that all weather is temporary, so if I observe that there is currently storm or fog and I have the option to sleep, then I'll do so and hope that it passes as I advance time by sleeping. That's what happened to at the timestamp: I walked into the plains and saw that it was foggy so I just said 'nope' and decided I'd come back later

Pretty certain I'll do that, yeah. Kicking around ideas, might go super heavy on bows and atgeirs since I never do those and swap to magic and see how I fare

I still don't understand your way of marking mountains, how do you do it like what did you see? I saw nothing that looks like mountain.
it's best seen slightly before the timestamp. i see it under/behind the hotbar as i'm stabbing the greydwarf. I don't actually see it while I'm pointing my character at it to mark the map.
if you're on a computer you can use , and . while the video is paused to skip frame by frame. It's a silhouette that's fairly visible before/while I'm saying "yo" but because of my camera movement it's basically gone already by the time i start saying "mountain."
Why wouldn't you make the Fenris Coat first @4:48:00 to get resist to frost? Safely explore the mountains and be a lot safer vs drakes.
Great question and while my heart yearns for a fenris coat the answer lies in longevity and the importance of the root harnesk. We wear the pants until the bitter end and throughout the entirety of the plains, mistlands, and ashlands we want to be wearing the harnesk. Don't wanna pour mats into something we're barely gonna use. We do two things in the mountain: 1) find Moder; 2) kill Moder. I haven't timed it but I think we spend between 25-30 minutes in the mountain? (excluding time in the not-freezing cave) If I'm not geared then I was planning on dying anyway and if I have frost mead up it protects me just as much against drakes etc. as a fenris coat would. The only other times cold is relevant is at night and that's not catastrophic like freezing is and we very often sleep through it anyway
I think a cool strat would be to burn a stack of wood with fire arrows instead of building the kiln (haven't tried it yet so idk if it's viable or even a thing lol, just saying could be nice)
On default settings it only works when you're actually *in* the Ashlands!

isn't using printseeds command cheating? It would add considerable time to the run if you couldn't maphack the dungeon locations
in this category CHAT commands like /die, /resetspawn, and /printseeds are allowed, but devcommands/console are of course forbidden. There are stricter categories where printseeds is banned

hey Thread sorry this is super nitpicky, but could you consider turning up your microphone a bit or compressing your audio more in the future? If I turn my volume up enough to hear you talk it makes sounds like the boars screaming super loud and jarring
Oh shoot yeah there's a limiter on there but I used to have a compressor too and I think I turned it off to try to capture purer sound for something

Spear is the ultimate weapon? 😂
I think for speedrunners, where you only kill what you have to, it probably is because of the ranged option - no need to switch weapons for ranged and it's faster than the bow with low skill + no need to craft arrows. I personally hate spears though, so what do I know 😆
According to me, yeah! Everybody else, NOPE! It definitely has some weak points but I'm a huge fan
