This week's track of the week is 'Listen To What The Man Said', taken from the 1975 Wings album 'Venus and Mars'.
    LYRICS:
    Any time, any day
You can hear the people say,
That love is blind, well, I don't know
but I say love is kind
    Soldier boy kisses girl
    leaves behind a tragic world
But he wont mind, he's in love
and he says love is fine
    Oh-yes, indeed we know
That people will find a way to go
no matter what the man said
And love is fine for all we know
for all we know, our love will grow - that's what the man said
So won't you listen to what the man said
    He said....
    Oh-yes, indeed we know
That people will find a way to go...
    Oh-yes, indeed we know
That people will find a way to go...
    etc. etc.
The wonder of it all baby.....
The wonder of it all baby.....
The wonder of it all baby.....

Summer 1975 was awesome! It was a great time to be a 10-year-old kid, hanging out at the public neighborhood pool every day, fishing, camping, biking... just plain blissful times to be enjoyed with little a care in the world! Life was still simple then too, times will never again be like that. This song was definitely a top hit then, and brings the great memories flooding back!

I was around 6 years old, Bismarck, ND. I missed the first day of school following the garbage truck around the neighborhood. They had a radio on the back of the truck and it just drew me in. No amber alert, just a mother out to gather her wayward child.

Yes, the Dakotas were and probably still are more laid-back and care-free places to live; I lived in Rapid City, SD for several years and just loved it-- the way life is SUPPOSED to be!

I was 10 when this song was being played, all over the radio, in the summer of 75. Every single time that I hear this song, all of the beautiful and wonderful memories, come flooding back, to a much simpler and precious time!! Both of my parents have been gone for years, and I only have one family member left. Life was so darn good, being a kid and spending every summer, at the beach. This song was still being played on the radio, a lot, many summers after it was released. If I could go back to the early 70's, I'd stay there forever!! The world today, is just insane and so out of control and corrupted!

Let's face it, he was a former Beatle and that's why his music was everywhere. That band was an encapsulation of an era! The 1970's. And so it was for a generation of young people, hearing it for the first time, making a lasting impression on young minds still learning. The combination of classical music with electric guitars was simply unheard of!That smooth segue at the end of the song, just when you think it's over, shows the creative, talented musical genius of Paul McCartney! A true artist!

Linda's voice singing in McCartney's songs.
Her voice singing is placed in different spots all throughout the song. What a genius and wonderful guy, he writes beautiful music, marries a beautiful girl, not a professional singer. Yet, he writes music in those years, and he includes her voice singing in various spots in various songs, making his music sound even better. We love you, Paul McCartney.

Sax solo by Tom Scott who played the track while listening to the song for the first time. He says he didn’t know they were recording, he was listening and playing along to get a sense of where he might go with it. Said after concluding that he looked up when he heard applause coming from the booth where Paul and the engineers were clapping. They said a second take wasn’t needed, that they had what they wanted.

In 1975, I was ten years old.. And for the first time, my parents would allow me to walk some distance away from the rest of the family [mom•dad•two younger brothers] when making public outings [going out to eat, to the mall, etc].. First taste of sweet freedom!.. No small thing -at least to me- in laying the foundation of the person I would become.. And this song [along w/others, as well] was both the literal [at times] and imagined [at others] soundtrack to that newfound sense of wonderment.. It can really only happen once in a lifetime.. This was IT, for me.. And I couldn't be more grateful to whatever behind the scenes forces arranged for it to be this way..

@@itperdition It’s a soprano saxophone actually. Played by session ace Tom Scott from L.A. Express and The Blues Brothers Band.

Memories of having no electricity in our house for more than a year, and going around to Mike and Mary Smith's house to watch Top Of The Pops.
My sister had the Venus and Mars album and we listened to it in their house.
RIP Mary, you were lovely XX.

The chorus's guitar riff seems like when the orange light come into us through our eyes and warm our souls... How can you be so wonderful?
